        • Do this post and everyone else here a favour and ignore it. You are embarrassing yourself.

        • -2

          @scuderiarmani:

By stating the rules of ozbargain? Maybe you should reconsider your attitude considering that I'm not the only one who thinks posting the RRP of a product is ridiculous.

What's your defence? RRP is a bargain on a website where the rules clearly state RRP is for the forums?

          Good job man.

    • -4

You seem like you're having a bad day. Perhaps you should be nicer to your keyboard. Why are you even bothered with what other people spend their money only? You need to chill. If you don't like Nintendo or Nintendo gamers, don't come into Nintendo deals. Just so you know, you're the loud minority. I hope what is left of your day gets better :)

      • -1

My days just fine thanks. What I find ridiculous is how brainwashed Nintendo fans are, I've had Nintendo games and consoles in the past, I'm not anti Nintendo for spit. Nintendo have genuinely lost it, but regardless people are free to spend their money on what they want as you said, however that doesn't mean other people like me can't have opinions, specially on the bang for buck part since this is a bargain website.

But the main issue is how RRP is not moved to the forums, If I post a RRP limited edition game as a bargain and it gets pushed to the forums (which it most likely will), I have a right to bring up the argument as to why this RRP post is allowed to stay.

You can't issue rules and enforce them at will.

        • You can't issue rules and enforce them at will.

We haven't issued any such rule and as such we aren't enforcing something that doesn't exist.

But the main issue is how RRP is not moved to the forums, If I post a RRP limited edition game as a bargain and it gets pushed to the forums (which it most likely will)

It would not as previously stated, example of one recently. Can you give an example or explain where this idea has come from? However you should post deals that you believe are a genuine deal, if you are posting something to prove a point or any other disingenuous reason then it will most likely be unpublished.

Mods aren't RRP police, that term itself can be ambiguous. The community decides if it's a good price/deal as previously mentioned

        • It is neither regular or retail, it's a Limited Edition item at this point you can't confirm will make it to shelves in stores. Hamza has already your RRP point as a 'rule' here on ozbargain. Why are you getting worked up for?

  • Stared at it in my cart for a while but not quite sold.

Can someone convince me to buy this (ignoring resale value)? I'm looking for any excuse to pull the trigger but can't find one.

    • +1

Only reason to do it is for the figurine, but if you are not into that sort of thing I would pass, and get a 2nd game at launch instead.

      • +2

There's more than one switch game at launch?

    • +3

If the statue doesn't impress you all that much, just save your money orrrrr put it towards another nintendo switch game :) (thats what im doing)

    • +3

Think of all the additional stuff that is included, and think of how many times (if any) you'll be using it.

I was going to get this too, but then realised the additional items will just clutter up my shelf space and I'm already trying to get rid of alot of things from my room lol

    • Thanks all, helped make up my mind. Will hold off on this one!

  • -2

Is this the most expensive game ever?

    • +2

Ahh no, not by a long shot. If you mean retail, Dark Souls 3 Prestige Edition was the most expensive, which sold for $800 locally.

Other rarer games sell for much higher.

      • And still selling for $800 off US ebay.

    • Sadly No, I own all of The Sims 3 series, I think, excluding subs and micropayment games, that may be the most expensive complete game i have ever bought, albeit over time.

    • No, there was a copy of saints row 4 that was a million dollars.

      http://www.tomshardware.com/news/saints-row-iv-special-editi…

      • This is another case of people not reading up on the add-ons. It includes a trip to space! I am pretty sure that runs at around $10M if you go through Richard Branson, so that would have deserved the front page. 90% off a trip to space plus a free copy of Saints Row.

        • LOL not really, I think Kotaku priced it all out at less than $700k. In any case Collectors/special editions definitely have higher margins than the standard game, but hey, for a fan it's more about sentimental value.

  • +12

I love Zelda too but this is really overpriced for what you get!! Buying this just encourages Nintendo to charge $200 for all their special editions!! Sorry no deal mate!!

    • +2

      Very fair point

    • It is, and I've ordered one. Was much better when I ordered it on Friday and it included a carry case for the console. Pretty frustrated EB removed the case and didn't adjust the price at all. After conversion and tax we're paying as much as the US are for the Master edition which includes everything in this and a case (a plain official one going for $30 locally).

Alas I want the audio CD and statue enough to stick with it.

      • EB didn't remove the case. They just got excited and uploaded the first picture they saw of the master edition before Nintendo announced which regions were getting which content.

        • The picture listed items and the name of the edition changed entirely from one release to another. It was sold on Friday as the Master edition and then got renamed to match the UK version the following day. That said, I'm also sure it was a mistake but it wasn't just an incorrect photo.

  • How many people can their be that seriously think this is just the game????

    • +1

      Quite a few people apparently.

  • +9

    I won't neg this.

However, this isn't a bargain when it's just the regular RRP.

This website is OZBargain, not OZRegular.

  • FYI: This is for the Switch version.

I wonder if there's a bundle for the WiiU version.

    • Nintendo will also be selling a Limited Collectable Bundle, which contains The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Sound Selection CD, a rolled map, collectible coin, and a Master Sword of Resurrection figure.
The Limited Collectable Bundle will be available via the Official Nintendo AU/NZ eBay Store.

So you can buy either version then buy the Limited Collectable Bundle.

  • Just get the Wii U version. It'll probably be worth the same as the Australian PAL Gamecube Twilight Princess in a few years ~AU$200.

    • The reason for that is motion controls. Zelda twiilight princess sucked with motion controls.

Then again considering twiiliggt princess is now onnthe wii u I doubt it will hold much value.

  • +13

    This is OzBargain not OzPayFullPriceForPreorder.

    • +1

Sometimes the Ozbargain forum is so critical that it should be called OzJudgemental

  • +8

    $100 extra for a statue, a cd, a coin and a map.

    What's the point?

    • +4

This is banditry against poor nerds!:
      $1 cost for coin
      $1 cost for map
      $1 cost for CD
      $15 cost for figurine
(really you could divide all these by a 3).

(And you have to buy the AMIIBO figures too 5x$15 = $75)

      Save your cash!

  • +1

    Life size sword?

    • What do you intend to do with it…

      • +4

        Slash the price into half

  • +1
  • +5

RRP, not a bargain. (And I'm a big N/Zelda fan).

      • +6

i think it stands for ripoff in this case

      • +4

So every preorder item ever that sells out before release is considered a bargain?

      • -4

You've got Nintendo gamers, fans of Zelda, resellers and Video Game collectors snapping these up regardless of Australia not getting the Master Edition. If you cannot confirm these will make it to the shelves of EB/JB the RRP argument in redundant. Whether you think it's a ripoff, whether you'd pay for it is irrelevant. It's just not RRP if you can't get them and there is no rule here on ozbargain about RRP or pre orders.

Me 2, wrong people on the internet -2 looks to the sky

        • +2

I'm not talking specifically about Zelda, or anything Nintendo. Just your flawed logic that pre-ordering anything that's bound to sell out before hitting store shelves somehow categorizes it as a bargain.

Having to pay mark-up from scalpers makes their prices a rip-off, not this a bargain.

      • R stands for recommended, as in they could go lower and make it a bargain but haven't so it's not. I get this is a big deal but for people who had already decided to buy the game regardless of the price but i wouldn't call that a bargain. I mean you would pay $1000 for a bottle of water if you were dying of thirst but it does not make it a bargain.

  • +5

    900p

    • -3

1080p on Switch and 720p on Wii U, both 30 fps. Already confirmed.

      • +2

Wait, the WiiU console can't do 1080p?

        • Not with this game, no.

      • 900p upscaled actually.

      • Source? I was thinking of just buying Zelda on Wii U, but if Switch does higher res then I may be convinced to, err, switch.

        • +1

          Nintendo stated 900p on switch

  • lol theres heaps on ebay already for $300+

  • +4

Nintendo are trying to be like apple with their iPhone launches. Trying to build up hype by not having much supply. Just did it with the nes and now with switch games

    • -2

So you think they restrict supply so people can't buy their products and in turn hype is generated so even MORE people can't buy their products? Your business logic is flawless.

      • +4

Gets more people talking about it, easier for them to justify $189 for this game. Even watch dogs 2 special edition was only just over $100.

Then with the nes, it has meant each time they release a new batch of the consoles they have sold out instantly because people think they are worth whatever crazy prices they have been selling for on eBay.

        • -1

The game is $89; the game plus the extras is $189. If people think the price is worth what they're getting they'll pay for it, no one is forcing people to buy the limited edition over the standard edition. In the case of the NES Mini Nintendo have publicly stated they did not anticipate a collection of NES games that have already been released multiple times, including currently on Virtual Console, to be so popular. The fact is Nintendo work in an unpredictable business. The GameCube sold 22 million, the Wii sold over 100 million, the Wii U onl sold 13 million, who knows how the Switch will do but if it is a success, then yeah, there will probably be supply shortages for that reason. Nintendo employs many tactics to generate hype, but cutting into their own profits needlessly isn't one of them.

      • +1

The Wii US launch geuninely did use product shortage to manipulate the market and for hype. There were queues at best buy three months after launch. Undersupply truly was a major and defining part of the Wii launch. Business logic doesn't have to make logical sense to still be incredibly successful, as the Wii was based on units sold.

  • +3

Yes. I agree that rrp is not considered a bargain

  • +3

Paying almost $200 for a game is absolutely insane…

  • +4

Not worth it. Vooks reported that Nintendo will sell the LE items only soon. I'm sure they won't be more than $120. Not a deal.

    • -5

      In English, for clarity? 🤔

      • +4

The limited edition items will be sold seperate on the Nintendo AU eBay store for those who want them without the game. The op is saying they won't sell for more than $120, which is the difference between the standard and limited edition prices. Sound logic.

        • Wonder if they will sell the carry case they cut out of the limited edition. The only practical thing I would have used in the pack.

      • -4

Probably the most informative neg vote, shame its incoherent

    • +2

GameTraders is also still taking preorders, this deal is a dull

  • I haven't read much about the new Zelda and Nintendo switch. But is this the only limited edition version for the Switch? Anything for the Wii U?

  • I'm going to Japan in May, I might just wait until then.

    • +1

I think Zelda in Japanese might be the second most impossible task in gaming behind the Banjo Kazooie quiz level in Japanese.

      • its region free, so theres a good chance itll have subs

  • +2

Preordered this when EB had this listed as the Master edition. They removed the carrying case and called it the limited edition and replaced my order with it. I thought it was overpriced then, now it just seems a rip off. Will be cancelling the preorder.

  • +2

This is the RRP for a newly announced preorder of a game. No bargain to be had here.

  • +2

The ozbargainer in me just makes me want to hack my Wii U and play zelda on (or before??) launch day on my wii u for $0.

Compared to $660 for the switch + pro controller + game, or (profanity) $770 or something if I decide for this limited edition one.

I even have the money, but the switch is just so overpriced right now and with no good exclusive games. aaaahhh nintendo whyyyy

    • +2

Don't forget the microsd you'll need down the track..

    • +1

I'm gonna wait for the Switch Slim or Switch XL. Give them some time to work out the first gen hardware issues.

      • +1

Xbox and Playstations have a history of first revision issues, but Nintendo doesn't have a bad history of launches. The build quality of the launch 3ds is actually better than the New 3ds after they got economies of scale (but the bezel design wasn't great). If you remember, the later Gamecubes had their fancy AV output port removed. Nintendo often remove features with later editions. The wii lost gamecube control ports. Nintendo often go through cost cutting measures, reducing buttons and ports.

    • Certainly am nearly convinced to do the same. Very tempted just to get the wii u version and grab a ps4 pro with the change. Nothing I want till Xenoblade 2 and I am willing to bet Nintendo will have to drop the price before that comes out.

  • +2

RRP no bargain should be in forums

  • +2

    Coin? What happened to rupees?

    • +1

After that public misconduct and malicious damage charge, last time I tried to withdraw a few rupees, I switched to cash.

      • I'm trying to make bitrupees happen :p Getting the bushes to accept the exchange is proving difficult.

  • +2

Would it have killed them to throw in a BoTW Amiibo?

    • +1

      Considering there are 5 haha

  • It costs $189 and $75 for the Amiibos. I honestly wonder if somehow the Japan version will be better in some way, so I might wait and find out.

    • Japan is getting a Collector's edition containing the Switch game, Link (Riding) Amiibo, map, sound selection, and extra game cover.
Also a deluxe edition which is the collector's edition plus the Master Sword figurine and 20 postcards.

  • +1

I'm a massive zelda fan and even I know this is far from a bargain.

  • You know as much as this is getting a positive momentum and as harsh as everyone is being to Zylam Marex he does have a point. This can only be considered a bargain in comparison to how much everyone will resell it for. But by bargain standards this does not actually meet the "unspoken rule" of ozbargain. And that is to find good bargains, not buy RRP.

Its good for notification but i think all the down votes against him. For stating what is potentially true in most of our minds, is a little harsh.

If i posted the watch dogs 2 rrp pricing it wouldnt have got this positive momentum.

    • Not really, looks like every store is getting this Limited Edition, most likely will be sold in your local BigW cabinet 6months after this launches.

      Mod earlier said:
"However you should post deals that you believe are a genuine deal, if you are posting something to prove a point or any other disingenuous reason then it will most likely be unpublished."

      Honestly is no deal here

      • According to Vooks, the Limited Edition is only to be sold by EB and JB in Australia.

      • It is a deal. Even if it sucks and you don't want it.

Think about buying shares that instantly skyrocket in value after you buy them, stay up and never go back down.

        That's what you're buying.

If you're purchasing it to open and play, then I agree, it's a bad deal. But that's not what a lot of people buy these LEs for. It's basically a golden goose.

  • Just Pre-Ordered 2 Instore :)

  • Or get it for $20 next xmas / $299 switch included. There are a billion other AAA titles you get get and play on the cheaps atm

    • +4

Zelda game for $20? You are dreaming!!!

    • Or get it for $20 next xmas

Mate can I have whatever you're on???

  • anyone preorder the switch yet? i want to know where is the cheapest place to order one

    • $469 seems to be the standard price - Noone will dip below this for some time I imagine. Though they might announce a bundle deal with a slightly discounted game with the console.

      • +1

$469 is priced to fail. It's either a very expensive handheld (mum! It's the next 3DS! "$469? Hell no.") or it's a console that's significantly weaker than XB1 and PS4 base models but more expensive.

This is more expensive than the Wii U, and we all know how that one turned out.

        • I think they try to compare itself to an iPad price. Don't think they put Mario Run on App store for no reason.

        • @wtfnodeal: It's not comparable in any way to an iPad. Desireability, build quality, specs, attractiveness, in no metric can I see this winning over an iPad. iPad is sold at a premium for a reason.
