  • Nice specs for the price.

  • What's difference between lenovo zuk pro and z2 plus?

  • +1

I think this is poor value when compared to the Zuk Z2 for $100 less.

    • +4

More than $100 and bigger battery too

      • My ZUK Z2 from the recent $227 Banggood deal arrived on Monday. Immediately unlocked the bootloader and installed LOS 14.1

        Love it!

I've been holding onto a slowly dying Nexus 5 running CM 13.1 and this is almost exactly the same 5" size which I thought I'd never find these days. Boots and runs significantly faster too. Not used it much but already feel it was incredibly good value for money.

        • When was your phone despatched? Mine was despatched on the 19/12 but I still haven't received it.

        • @HandsomeMonkey: Sorry just saw your question. I ordered on 5 Jan, delivered on 15 Jan via DHL from Singapore

        • @overcoat:

You're lucky. I still haven't received mine yet. It's been over a month already. Bloody Bangnotsoogood. Gearbest and Geekbuying was faster when I bought from them.

too bad no band 28 telstra.
i wish there is only 1 band exist in the world. cant imagine how much efficiency human can get with that. and save tons of $$$ too.

    • I'm on the Telstra network with a non-band 28 phone. I live in the metro area, so I'm almost always on 4G. When I drop to 3G, I hardly notice the difference. But then again, I only have a 2GB plan, so I don't watch lots of videos or do much data intensive stuff.

      • Band 28 LTE rocks ……. But then I did 21gb data in 14 days ….. TPG broadband was dead so we put the SIM into USB dongle with LTE band 28 into our router and fed the whole flat ipads, PCs the lot, and we are surrounded by more flats

I use Optus but also tried Telstra as they offered double data for 7 days , it also locked to band 28.

        Very fast

    • +1

It's not just the band but how much spectrum they have licensed in that band ….Telstra bought the most for $600m in band 28/700mhz followed by Optus in band 28.

I would be checking all phones coming out of China for malware/spyware before using them at this point.

        • Absolutely. For PC's, laptops, and tablets, even if they are purchased here, Lenovo have had pre-installed spyware.

        • +1

You might want to do that for 99% of all models including Samsung, Apple, Microsoft, LG, Sony etc - since these come out of China.

        • I've heard Xioami and Oppo have that problem, but the fix would be downloading the official ROM from their website and installing that. It seems the apps were installed by a third party, usually the phone seller.

You reckon the official OS has spyware in it?

        • @bchliu:
Why, where is the reasoning behind your comment? Is there any evidence to prove you will likely get pre-installed spyware on any of the big reputable brands you rattled off?

        • wish I went to the forum before buying an elephone S3. great phone, awesome price, constant overlay ads that can't disable, not so great…

        • Stuff like WeChat taibo etc are popular apps in China …… Not spyware it's bloatware and you can uninstall it .

        • @chyawala: rr64: "I would be checking all phones coming out of China for malware/spyware before using them at this point."

My comment was to remind everyone that almost every phone comes out of China. rr64 should have been addressing "Chinese Branded phones" moreso than "all phones coming out of China"..

@garage sale: there are underlying libraries and system software that is preinstalled with "phone home" features as much as Google Services and Apple's iOS libraries phone home to report on where the phone is and what it is doing (yes, all modern smart phones do this).

Difference is - you are buying a Chinese phone with potentially Chinese ROM, of course it will report home back to China.

        • @bchliu:
Whoa they make electronics in China? I just teleported in from last century and I didn't know yet.

I mean exactly what I said in my comment. Why would you not check your new smartphone when you know there are people out there doing this?
Usually bogus software additions come from someone dodgy in the supply chain trying to make a few extra bucks, often it has nothing to do with the manufacturer. So I really don't see how buying a big brand phone completely protects you from this.

      • BTW.. you do know that China does not have or allow Google Apps (GApps) to be installed by default on their devices? Instead, there are a number of alternative apps and appstores that require connectivity back to China as does Google Apps does.

I remember how dodge it was when i tried to install their version of google maps when i was there by accessing an external non trusted site directly on the phone. On a funnier side, i remember using an android phone i bought from china delivered to aus and when i used it in beijing, the camera started to work from nowhere and it repeatedly took pictures and also asked for system passwords. Might have been because i was using other languages to communicate with friends visiting beijing at the same time and their spies started going nuts.

I'm always surprised at our cultural ignorance towards our biggest trading partners.

      • +1

as opposed to all the non-Chinese brand phones which come with NSA/CIA spyware pre-installed

        • +4

Joke is on them. My life is ugly and uninteresting ;-)

      • People worried about their privacy, yet they install Google Chrome on their Windows 10 PC's and buy Android phones without thinking twice.

        Funny world.

      • Google are the biggest spy's of all and you happily share most things with them…..if you are worried by Chinese spyware …..Huawei is used for a lot of our 4G network and also land based broadband…..But a foil hat stops them controlling your thoughts …….

I'd be more worried about the stuff people load from the play store and mindlessly allow access to contacts to. Or the custom rom ….. What makes you think the rom is clean …..

        • Keyboard…..broken?

  • Guys.. Once you are connected to Internet there is no more privacy…

If you read this means you are connected to Internet.

    • Haha, I'm wearing my tinfoil hat! Take that CIA!

    • yeah, android wasn't invented for privacy, and to make it useful you need playstore, and accounts, and to share data with those apps and google.

I went to see how many of my details google tracked, they allow you to do this ………it was hundreds, and worse was you can't do bulk delete all ……you have to delete them one at a time ………gave up after a while.

Scary how they link the cookies from my phone and PC when my PC uses an outlook account and phone a Gmail account yet they target ads at me across platforms based on stuff I've browsed or bought.

Not too bad if everything to do with your Gmail and Google account is fictitious, not good if you used your real details like name birthdate, etc.

But then ads is their only source of revenue so they need to be good at it. Might need to get an IPhone again when I have the money.

    • What privacy? I only watch porn!!
