I want to see more gtx1070 or gtx1080 deals so I can replace my aging P170HM

  • +1

I'm more impressed by this deal!!: http://www.kongcomputers.com/product-detail/gamers/metabox-a…

Do you know where my closest store is to Brisbane so that I can go and see one of these in real life?

    • Thanks, yes we just dropped the price permanently by $100 on this one too. Was $1479 last week.
There aren't any stores where you can view the laptops unfortunately, just online. The N850HJ is a new model and arrives soon.

      Cheers
      Kris

      • Looks like I may have to make a Sydney Trip!

        • All the laptops ship directly from Metabox in Perth to the customer. So they don't come via us in Sydney. We don't hold stock.
          Cheers

I've purchased P670RS-G from Kong computers on last sale and received it just over a week ago.

So far I'm extremely happy with unit, great build quality,I would highly recomend it if you looking for 17 inch with 1070, unless you want Kaby lake.

Happy to answer any questions :)

      Cheers.

      • There's not much reason to want Kaby Lake other than 4K Netflix right?

  • Will everything work with Windows 8.1?

  • +1

Are the benefits of the kaby lake significant. I just want to play games

  • Hope you guys do a sale around March, keen on a new machine but waiting for FBT year to salary sacrifice it

    • +1

Yes I think we will have something for you in March as well :)
      Kris

  • Which model is the lightest?

  • this seems like a pretty solid premiere pro laptop to me :) Any way for us to get an idea of display quality? like the gamuts and max black - and how the different options compare?

    • +1

      Hi getho,
Thanks for the message. Yes the i7-7700HQ will be fast for rendering and exporting out your projects in Premiere Pro. I would recommend at least 16GB RAM.
Here are the specs for the last model with the same panel.

FHD Panel - LG Philips LP156WF6 - Adobe RGB rating is 55% (Review on the panel can be found here, just scroll down to about half way - http://www.notebookcheck.net/Schenker-XMG-P507-Clevo-P651RP6…)

4K Panel - SAMSUNG LTN156FL02-101 - Adobe RGB rating is 48% (Review on the panel can be found here - http://www.notebookcheck.net/Asus-G501JW-Notebook-Review.141…)

      Cheers
      Kris

      • thanks kris, ho hum, 55% srgb isn't enough for photo editing. Do I have to look at the p750's to get a jump in display?

        • I have been asking Metabox about the IGZO displays so hopefully they will get some in, but they are expensive.
As for the P750DM2-G, I will need to double check the screen info and get back to you shortly.

          Cheers
          Kris

        • @Kong Computers:
          Hey Kris
What about the 4k panels? Any info on them? Been searching and can't tell (also would be good to know if the 120hz and gsync panels are all different manufacturers. 95% sRGB would be good)

        • @getho:
          Hi getho,
I had put the 4K panel in the post above. It is this one :) Same as the Asus G501JW.
4K Panel - SAMSUNG LTN156FL02-101 - Adobe RGB rating is 48% (Review on the panel can be found here - http://www.notebookcheck.net/Asus-G501JW-Notebook-Review.141…)

          Kris

        • @Kong Computers:
At this stage the 17.3" models only have the 120Hz screen option but I am just checking on whether they are different manufacturers.

its either this or the alienware that was on sale hmmmm

    • +1

The alienware R3 has gone back up to normal price by the way.

  • Trying to decide between the prime P641HK and the Alpha N850HK. Other than the 1" difference in screen size the only real other difference seems to be the battery. The specs are the same and they are listed at the same price.

Am I missing something here? Which one would be the better purchase.

    • +1

      Hi Luke,
Yes the specs are very similar.
The N850HK does also have a RGB keyboard compared to White on the P641HK.
The keyboard on the 14" P641HK is smaller and doesn't have a number pad on the right either. Just numbers across the top of the keyboard.
I also did read that the P641HK has now received an all alloy chassis but since the stock doesn't arrive until the 8th Feb I can't confirm this yet.
      http://www.clevo.com.tw/clevo_prodetail.asp?id=1014&lang=en

In the end, what size would you be more comfortable with, and would the lack of a number pad on the right bother you?

      Cheers
      Kris
