This is a nice Manfrotto corded remote control for selected Canon DSLR cameras, eg Canon 5D Mark III.
It is down from US$300.00 as part of a "DealZone" offer from B&H Photo but only for about 15 more hours!

Shipping is cheap at about US$12.00 with DHL. Overall it will come to about AUD$114.00, which is pretty good considering that John Barry's in Melbourne has it for AUD$667 - which sounds excessive - and Digital Camera Warehouse has it for AUD$450.

The unit does not have the best reviews, especially at its RRP, however I feel that it is a bargain at this special price. It will allow the camera to be remotely controlled for focus on a jib, shoulder frame, or even on a tripod. Also note that it may soon be a discontinued item, although it is still active on the Manfrotto site.

Good luck and enjoy!

  • I don't get the value of this remote. What can it do that a $20 remote that plugs into the remote shutter release port can do?

Both can focus, take photo's, etc.

Remotes can generally only activate autofocus and trigger stills capture. This is primarily for video use and allows you to achieve a more controlled focus pull - though I understand its accuracy can drift. You can also also zoom into the live view screen. But does anyone still use Canon DSLRs for video?

    • @Wolfshooter. Thx.

I only shoot still photos. So even though I love a bargain, I wouldn't get much value out of this.

  • Videos on YouTube show it as working very well in terms of setting a maximum and minimum focus stop. Then using the variable lever on this remote, it is possible to move between those two focusing points without exceeding either of them. If it works - and does not drift - this alone makes it worth the $114 for video work.

Looks quite useful for me, I do quite a bit of video on the 5D3. Love the focus limiting feature, might give it a go, thanks OP for posting

  • Most professionals use sony now for video?

I found the deluxe version for $10 more, too.

    • Thanks for finding that. I presume that both are about to be discontinued as the compatibility guide for both stops at the Canon 5D mark iii. Did you buy one?

      • Nah. I don't even have a video rig, so I wouldn't have a use for it.
