    dupe

    • tomasco - pardon the play on words here - stupe - read the rules on negative voting. One word comments like "dupe" are NEVER valid for a negative vote

      • I sincerely apologise.

    What's the dupe with?

This isn't the same as the free day on Friday.

Or is this different? too much compensation flying around at the expense of taxpayers.

    • That's for the lateness in total in June.

On top of that you can claim just for the lateness of Tuesday.

And then on top of that you can claim for the lateness for the whole of July (when they eventually publish the performance results next month, which i am assuming will be under target)

Sorry all, I'm still waiting for a real negative justification. The link is for 2 "free" daily compensation. That is normal, I've been using that form/link every previous month.

The link i provided is specifically for the disruptions on the 27th July. Which means for the month, eligible users can 3 (THREE) "free" daily tickets.

        don't be sorry ausooi.

Some people just can't read properly and shouldn't have access to the internet to begin with.

        • +1

That's right, it different two compensation.

for 2 free June ticket plus this one, totally 3 free daily tickets.

      • @Which means for the month, eligible users can 3 (THREE) “free” daily tickets.

3 free daily ticket? How? Metro site says you can get one free ticket for disruption on 27 July.

  • Really is this a bargain?/ Its good info for those affected, but ts not really a bargain or deal. Probably better for these to be posted in the forums. Left at this stage for discussion, but may be removed later .

I somewhat agree with you here, but the regular compo posts still make it on (seems to be every month these days) - so I would reckon this is just as valid as any of the other ones. Not really a bargain but useful information

      • Agreed as well. I dont feel it should be in the 'bargain' page, but there has been similar posts that stayed on. Probably one for the MOD to clarify.

      • what fattyboombatty said.

        Iffy - but:
        - there's benefit there that some members don't know about and can claim
        - we've left these in the past
        - ability to pool resources to get the benefits (eg on the other thread, someone noted that the company's changed what that link is going to and hopes someone has a copy of the original claim form)

        I'd support leaving these here.

Maybe next month we should change it early on to "claims for this month" before we get too many independant threads going on

        • As a Sydney-sider, I have no issue at all with this staying up.

The breadth of impact is more pertinent than whether it's really a bargain or not (which it is not).

  • "Metcard
active for the first day of the
    compensation month in question
     on our train system"

Am I reading this right? So the delays happened on the 27th July… if you buy a monthly ticket it must have been activated by the 1st of July to receive the free ticket? So therefore the only valid monthly tickets that would get a free ticket would have a 4 day window (27th June - 1st July)? Or will they accept monthly tickets that were active on the 1st of July even if they were expired by the 27th July?

Considering the time it takes to print out the form, fill it out, send it off - it's hardly worth it for most people.

Don't know about this one - I am a regular monthly ticket buyer, but I have so many free dailies saved up that I have been using them for the last week rather that buying a monthly to replace mine that expired on the 16th

I applied for compo with that ticket - says "valid on the first day of the month", which it was, even if it wasn't valid for the day in question. Reckon they'll just grant it to avoid any further hassles.

Oh and it does not take much time at all to complete the form and send it off. Don't let these guys off the hook - ALWAYS apply for your compo.

      • Seeing as you've filled out a large number of these forms. What number do you put down for the ticket number? Is it the last number on the backside (white side) of the ticket or the number under the black strip on the front (coloured side)?

        • the ticket number is the one on the coloured side.
The number of blanks in the form is exactly the length of your ticket number btw.

          • @amkssg: but there are 16 blanks on the form and only 8 digits in the number on the coloured side, which is clearly not the same length. =s it's still the number on the coloured side though, right?

            • @waterMILK: That is correct.
You must have bought your metcard from a machine an i right?

In general, most people would have bought their tickets from convenience stores or over the counter, in which your metcard would have a 16 digit number ABOVE the black strip.

In your case, you have a 8 digit number below the strip.

    • The form is full of errors.
They took the "monthly compensation form" and amended it.

Ignore whatever the top of the form says.
Firstly, it needs to be valid on 27th July, NOT 1st day of the month.
Secondly, you can claim if you are on a weekly ticket even though it doesn't say so at the top.

  • So where can we get scan of monthly (july) metcard?

    • uh - photocopy your metcard? Is this a trick question? I would imagine each metcard ticket # is only eligible for 1 compensation ticket

  • Thanks for the information.

Normally, I will keep last month ticket just in case Metro cannot meet the target. When they release the report early of the month then gave the last month ticket and then photocopy the current month to claim the compensation.

  • Hasn't this already been covered here: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/29034?

"Yearly, monthly and weekly ticket holders will be able to apply for a free daily ticket as compenstation for the disruptions on Tuesday 27 July. Please complete one of the following forms to claim…"

well, looks like that link was updated. I was quite sure when I posted this, it didn't mention it.
Regardless, happy for the MODs to do whatever with this. My intention was purely to notify ppl about this "deal".

    DUP

  • With the "Free" Friday, did we ever get a statement saying that Metro is paying for any of it or does it still look like it was just a tax payer funded PR exercise? :(
