    Review

    3.8/5 from 88 reviews @ Amazon US

Oh and both are wired :(

    • +57

Personally prefer wired over wireless keyboard and mouse. Hate having to deal with more batteries.

      • +5

        same

      • +4

Prefer wireless mouse, wired keyboard :)

      • Then what should we do with all of the dusty eneloops we got from previous deal?

    • +9

Oh and both are wired :(

Yes. They're products for gaming. There is only 1 (very expensive) wireless mouse to my knowledge that doesn't introduce lag.

      And Amazon reviews are worthless.

      • +3

        And Amazon reviews are worthless.

You mean the ones that answer assumptions like yours:

which is presumably a close copy of Cherry MX blue switches. They might be slightly modified to better suit gamers.

All right there in the reviews if you actually want to research your purchase.

Oh wait, those reviews are worthless… ok you can go in blind :)

    • +9

Wired is good…less/no lag/latency. No Batteries.

      • Theres no subtantial/noticeable gain to use wireless unless your Desktop Case / Monitor is far away from your peripeheraul.

        • +4

For keyboards, yes. For mice, I find the wire can get in the way sometimes.

    • +1

With all my eneloops I never have an issue with battery's when a pair die.

      • +2

It's 1.02pm and All OUT OF STOCK.

        Edit: stupid Daylight Savings!!!!
        It's 2.04pm in Sydney :(

    • +2

Oh, it has blue switches :(

      • +1

Disregard, they are blue as per the description :P

      • How else are you gonna satisfy yourself yet annoy others with the sound of a majestical key click?

  • GAMDIAS Certified Red Switches. whatever these are.

    • +1

The MSY description says Blue switches which is presumably a close copy of Cherry MX blue switches. They might be slightly modified to better suit gamers.

      • +1

One of the reviews above says they are actually Kailh switches

        • Which are cheap clones of the MX switches, from when Cherry's patent expired

        • Not even Kalih.. They are TTC switches from a review

        • @OzFrugie:

This is unlikely since all of Gamdias' other mech planks use Kailh switches. But for under $50 for a full sized, backlit keyboard, anything but rubber domes is a bargain.

        • +3

There not even TTC, they are just shredded up newspaper.

        • @Nukkels:

I got that info from this review https://youtu.be/wh8nbFc_nlI

Also looks like Gamdias do use TTC switches based on this article

          https://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=http…

Could explain why its so cheap compare to other mechanical keyboards

  • +1

wanted a mech keyboard for using with my laptop. Can't go wrong with this.

  • +5

    Amazon questions
Hi. How many years manufacturer waranty does this unit have?. Thanks
    Half years

    • +8

      dog years?

  • -2

I'm gonna get one try to get one to try out MX Blue keys.

    • +5

to try out MX Blue keys.

Umm… how? Keyboard doesn't have MX Blue, don't confuse the readers.

      • True it has Blue clones.

    • +16

Anyone using spreadsheets. I'm the opposite, I miss having numpad on the laptop.

    • +5

People who type lots of numbers.

    • +3

It's not a keyboard without a number pad. Seriously, just wrong.

    • +10

Anyone who actually works on a PC?

    • +4

      Bill Gates

    • +1

      Filthy TenKeyLess Peasant

  • 1-5pm EST I presume….

    • +3

You're missing the D (daylight savings time)

      • +6

Sounds like he doesn't want the D?

  • +2

    comment from Amazon

    • This also features Gamdias-certified switches, which when you pull off a cap is actually a blue Kailh switch.
  • +3

Is this good for non-gamers like programmers?

    • +1

I would also like to know this.

    • +1

Why wouldn't it be? It's a mech keyboard. Only way to go IMHO.

Though it's worth noting that these are not Cherry MX switches. They are clones.

    • Different people will have different opinions, but to me, these blue mechanical switches are great for everything EXCEPT gaming.

They are very satisfying to type on but are quite loud. You can easily get use to it though.

The quality of these kailh switches aren't very good though. Once you get use to it, you start feeling the inconsistency of the keys. They might've improved the quality, but the keyboard i bought with these switches 2 years ago certainly had this problem.

So yeah, I'd say go for it. It's a full sized keyboard with what appears to be a standard layout, a numpad and cheap!

      • Why are blue switches bad for gaming?

I currently have Cherry MX Reds on my mech keyboard and was wondering what the major difference would be.

        • I think they're said to be bad because the tactile bump gets annoying (eg. FPS movement) and you can't double/triple tap them as quick (eg. RTS).

Also if you're trying to do double/triple taps the click noises would probably get pretty annoying to people around you and maybe even you. Better to go browns if you like the bump so much.

        • +1

Blue and red switches are very different. Red switches are linear, so there aren't any bumps along the way.

Blues on the other hand, do. A very significant one too. Compared to the red's it takes a considerable amount of effort/time to actuate the switches back and fourth, so when you are doing very movement dependent stuff or even just double tapping, it takes significantly longer and is more inaccurate because of the significant reset distance.

Sounds silly, I know. I didn't think peripherals would actually impact how well you game until I switched from red to blue switches, while playing guild wars 2. There are these "jumping puzzles" which require accurate movements, so for the first time I actually found the peripherals actually impacting my game play. You're also more likely to experience finger fatigue going from red to blue.

I would still recommend you give blue switches a crack if you have 50 bucks to spare. Who knows, you might find the potentially more satisfying typing experience worth overlooking its downsides while playing games.

        • Reds have no bump. Remember those ancient clicky keyboards from the early 90s? Blues are more like that. They are noisy. And clicky.

    • +1

Very subjective. If they are blue switches, they are quite loud and can be annoying, especially at night. The majority of the noise of most mechanical keyboards comes from the clacking of the keys against the deck though, and a cheap $1 set of silencers (from eBay) can help a lot but also might ruin the feel as you lose some of the drop distance.

As for feel, they feel great - I like the feel of having a slight drop followed by a sharp click at the actuation point and then a linear drop, which you don't quite get with a membrane keyboard (best I can explain :P).

EDIT: Have tried the Kailh Blues and MX Blues and couldn't find much to distinguish between the two other than the pitch of the tactile click.

    • +2

Seems like the left-hand Windows key has been swapped for a Fn key :\

No good for me, I use that button with my left hand frequently.

      • What a weird design flaw. If anything, the left-win key is considered to be the primary and typically it's the right one which is replaced by Fn.

        • +1

Yeah, agreed. Having Fn & Win key on the left would be fine, as most laptops do, but removing the left Win key is terrible.

        • I hardly every use the LHS winkey. I use the right one, but I guess I mostly just use it for locking and bringing up the run command.

      • Can that left Fn key be remapped?

    • +1

I have a blue and brown keyboard. I work in IT, pretty much type all day and I prefer blue switches. I'd use my blue keyboard in the office but it's far too loud (small office). I used it in a large office in the past, had a few complaints but didn't care.

Brown is fine in the office, but not as nice to type on.

      • +1

That's subjective. I have both, but much prefer the brown to type on.

    • Depends where you are working. Home office Blue are great. In a workplace you may find them a bit loud.

I have gone for brown for home and work now just to stay consistent (About 40 developers in my non-home office, so I don't want to annoy too many people).

  • -2

Mouse uses office sensor, avoid it for gaming. Very, very basic sensor.

    • Do you know what sensor it uses exactly? Can't seem to find a source :/.

      • -2

it says optical. laser is best

        • +1

Well Logitech's $200 G900 mouse, as well as their G502 and many other gaming oriented mice all use optical sensors so I wouldn't say it's necessarily a bad thing…

        • +1

laser doesn't mean it's better than optical. they're just different products.

        • +2

Optical is better than laser in most gaming mice provided you have a nice mouse pad. If you are trying to use your mouse on a strange surface or hate the idea of mouse pads then laser is for you.

      • A5050

    • @Droidyy

Which sensor does the cat use then?

  • -2

I second that. Although I haven't used this mouse in particular, I have used something similar…
    http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=Ga…

They all have a slick design, maybe some flashy lights, but they're rubbish. Also, the one I used had a huge click force for activation, nothing like the easy one on my razer. Buyer beware IMO

  • What color is backlit?

  • i dont understand the difference btween red or blue switchs can someone explain please :)

    • Blue has a tactile click- i.e. in this case, when the key is pressed down around 2mm, there will be a tactile bump/click that you'll feel.

The red switches are linear, so you won't feel any sort of click (basically just a key on a spring).

      • +1

ok thankyou i understand now im more interested about the backlight for the keys do you know if they can be changed to diffrent colours or are they only red ?

        • Looking at the product page, it's just a red backlight. An RGB keyboard in a bundle at this price would be crazy.

        • ok so you think this deal is 100% definitely worth getting ?

        • @Taipan20:

Can't really go wrong for $49 delivered. Do keep in mind that the blue keyswitches combined with the clacking from hitting the keyboard deck will make this keyboard much louder than any standard membrane keyboard though.

What keyboard are you currently using?

        • just a very old basic acer one and the left click on my mouse is damaged i need to get a new mouse anyway. idc about the clicking keys or the sound. the main thing for me is those red backlights on the keyboard cos i hate not being able to see the keys in the dark.

        • @Taipan20:

In that case, I'd say that it's definitely worth trying.

        • +1

i jst hope when i open their site at 1pm to order one their site doesnt have a crash or meltdown from all the traffic or theyll all be instantly sold out :(

  • Is it worth upgrading from an old membrane G510 with steel series sensei raw?

    • yes, pretty much any mechanical > any membrane imo

    • It depends. The keyboard is quite loud if you are doing a lot of typing and may annoy others around you.

  • This is so gonna get OzB'd. Get your browsers ready!

  • I actually prefer typing with reds.. call me insane, but I never found that I could touch type only to the activation point where you feel the bump, I need to bottom out every keypress.

    • +1

      OK. You're insane!
      :)

          @clintyip:
          +1 paid shipping

        • +2

Store Rep, I just purchased one from SA Online store, but as others pointed out, the shipping is not free (different from what's advertised!).

I've got charged $14.89 for the shipping to NSW and also it seems there is a surcharge of $1.26 for handling fee?!

All these charges are not mentioned in the ad.. It just says $49 delivered(free shipping).

Can you please advise if you will refund $16.15 ($14.89 + $1.26) ?

          I paid via Paypal.

          Order figures details:

          Total products (tax incl.): $89.00
          Total vouchers: $40.96
          Total shipping (tax incl.): $14.89
          Total $62.93

          @allenhori:

        • +1

          Ditto, charged shipping. $69.34 total.

        • Hi hung861988

I think I stuffed up - I changed store to Kingsford as it said there was low stock. But when I got to the end it looks like I requested in-store pickup? Is there any way I can get this changed to delivery? Kingsford is a long way from my place… Can discuss on PM if you like.

        • +1

          @OzFrugie:

Same for me. $14.89 + $1.26 handling fee I was charged.

We better get refunded these amounts.

        • -1

Sent you a pm. Please look into this. Thanks.

        • @jeefbeef:

Or else.. report to ACCC! Misleading ads!

      • Hey Hung861988

Can MSY handle the traffic this time? or is it gonna be another site crash
