However, these are not very good for sweeping. The bristles are purely decorative and are awkward to use and do very little.

These brooms are crap at sweeping - the bristles are made from some sort of really awful cheap wood and don't sweep anything well. I think there are probably only about 30 bristles, too… insteadof hundreds or thousands on a normal broom.
