  • Is still amazes me the amount of effort and careful planning people put into these schemes to save a few bucks.

    • +12

ur on the wrong website buddy.

      • +6

Nah he just has investment properties in Sydney he is well off and picking up 5 dollar notes not worth it. Lol

        • +2

He's probably made enough savings from Ozbargain since 2009 to be able to afford those investment properties.

    • Where else can you get at least 5% off your utility bills/fines/anywhere that accepts Visa(KFC?)

    • +8

Yes, my partner is constantly shaking their head … "not another one of your ozbargain schemes" …

      • +5

Gold, I tried to explain the whole gift-card-inception to my partner last night, she replied with "right, and after all that, when do you actually get to go shopping?".

    • insert saying about earning and saving pennies

  • -2

No stock guys I went to my local one and there was a big hole where the cards were, someone bought them all

    Heard it here first. Haha

    • It starts tomorrow though.

      • +8

He's saying that to deter others from getting it first

        • +2

Just like property reports, FOMO ;)

heeeeee LOLS gotta do everythig to save for Sydney Houses!!

    • +1

I went into the Chatswood store after 8am, but they only carry the $50 card. At least, that's what I was told.

  • Platinum edge points here I come

  • Can someone just clarify two things for me?

If I was to buy WISH eGiftcards through cashrewards, how do you use them at the checkout, do you just print them off and scan the bar code?

Are people to the belief the 2000 points are for each card? So if you did buy 10 cards you would get 20,000 points?

    • +1

That is unknown at the moment.
Personally, I would be surprised if you can do it more than once per account but you never know, it may be possible

      • +2

you can earn the 2000 points upto 10 times if you buy 10 cards. I bought 4 this morning and got 8000 points

        • Did you make an individual or multiple purchases?

        • +1

@lamprey: individual. the register though printed 4 seperate activation slips

    • +7

There is a Woolworths Money app that you can use to store your egiftcards. When you go to pay select giftcard and then type in the number and pin from the app. The app also keeps track of the value left.

    • Select pay with egift, then type in the card number and pin.

      • If it is per $100 card rather than one bonus per account, I'm wondering if I could I can then buy David Jones vouchers (through the entertainment book at 10% off). Does anyone know if you can use multiple vouchers in the check out process online?

Thanks for answering, I'm new to gift card inception, it sounds incredible.

    • +1

If you need something a little more in-depth, I pretty much made a guide here

Look at the part of the description under "To pay:"

  • +2

seems like a lot of effort for $4 profit !!

    • +10

That's still 8x more than what you're worth buddy!!

  • -3
    1. Buy a 5% off egift card
    2. Use the egift to buy a VISA gift
    3. Use the VISA gift to buy another egift
    4. After 10 times, I will have $100 worth of WW points, and a $100 VISA gift
can someone do the maths for me, I am guessing I will be just paying around $105 with $200 back
      am I correct? lol
    • +2

Step 3. Use the VISA to buy another egift. VISA value is only $100, meaning you can only purchase up to $105.26 from CR. Wait up to 24 hours to get the gc details. Then add $0.69 to buy VISA. And repeat the steps. We only have 7 days to do this. Unless we receive gc details within minutes, we won't be able to do it for 10 times. Max is 7 times, I believe.

      • -1

Do you mean not gonna work if we buy VISA with VISA OR Egc with VISA ?

        • -1

I guess he is saying we can't do it for 10 times.
You're right yht, I may just repeat that for 7 times.
I don't know why people are giving me negative votes
I prefer keeping cash in my hands (and maximizing the discount) than 10 VISA gift cards
It is risky when you don't know much about the issuer. It is not VISA, not the big banks, just a random business no one knows.
People should learn from the Dicksmith lesson and try to avoid keeping large number of gift cards in hands.

        • The cards require at least 24 hours for activation before you can use it. Any attempts to use it prior may render the card void and useless. Hence you can't repeat this at the self-checkout 10 times and call it a day.

  • +1

Can we rain-check this item if none in stock :P

  • +8

I can confirm, I just purchased 4 x $100 cards and you get 2000 WW points for EACH card you purchase. Can also confirm I payed with an e gift card that I bought with the 5% discount on cashrewards. Operator advised cards take upto 24 hours to activate. The only disappointment was that I wanted to buy the maximum allowed (10), but there was only 4 cards on the shelves, unsurprisingly there was about 60+ of the $50 cards.

    • Not much stock around. Usually they have a lot more of these cards on the shelf.

      • Ditto. None at my Woolies this morning but plenty of $50 cards. I assume you can't get 2x of those?

        • +1

I'd assume no, 'cause that's 2x the card fees too.

    • +1

Thanks for the update & do these cards have expiry date printed on them or is it 12 mths from activation ?

      • +1

These cards have expiry printed. The cards I got this morning are either 04/18 or 01/19 expiry.

      • +1

The cards I got had expiry of 1/19

    • +5

Can also confirm the 2000 points (or however many points) are instantly available for use. So the best way to buy 10 cards in one visit is in the following way (maximum of 4 cards per transaction at self checkout):
      * 4 cards
      * 4 cards with $40 off
      * 1 card with $40 off
      * 1 card with $10 off

Still gives you $10 on next shop.

      • +1

Can you buy $1000 worth of vouchers on cashrewards to buy the 10 cards? Also will you be getting 3000 Amex point if you buy $1000 worth of vouchers through cashrewards?

        • +1

Yes and yes, but by that time the gift cards may be gone.

        • @forumninja:

How long do you have to wait for the vouchers to be issued? If it's instant then I can just go to the store, see if the giftcards are available and purchase the voucher then and there.

        • @nightelves:

          Up to 24 hours

        • +1

@nightelves: Usually it takes at least a few hours for the Cashrewards WISH eGift cards to be issued. It's not instant.

        • @forumninja:

Can you walk me through this as this is new to me. You go into cashrewards, then click out to woolies website where you can buy the giftcard.

To utilise this deal you will need to buy 2 x $500 and then later use this to buy Visa giftcards?

          Is this how it works?

        • +1

@nightelves: Yes. You buy 2x$500 for 2x$475. Note your local Woolworths is probably out of stock by now.

        • +1

          @forumninja:

Thanks a lot and I hope you enjoy the 20k bonus points from Amex. :)

        • @nightelves: Thank you.

      • +2

I went through self checkout this morning and purchased 5 cards. On the 5th card it had a quantity warning which required the Woolworths employee to come over and have a look. It still allowed the 5th card, but easier to just stick to 4 per transaction.

        • +2

Yes, some attendants can be nosy. Some may think there is a restriction on the number of cards you can buy. Best to avoid any interaction with people and stick to machines.

        • +2

Any gift card transaction more than $500 will trigger staff, because this card is 105.95 so max checkout is 4 cards

        • @samehada:

So based on what you're saying I can buy 4 at self checkout with staff intervention?

        • @nightelves:
          Without staff intervention: 4 cards
          With staff intervention: 5 cards

        • @forumninja:

So if you put through 4 cards you get 8000 pts in one hit?
I thought it would have to be done separately

        • @hellohello123: Yes, you get 2000 points per card. You'll get 8000 points in one go.

        • @forumninja:

Fair enough. I thought you had to do it one by one

      • Were you able to split payments for these cards?

        • +1

Yes, payment method is no different from a regular shop, so you can mix many payment methods (and as many as you want).

      • It's actually 4 without supervisor approval.
        5 with supervisor approval.

        I bought 10
        5 cards
5 cards with 50 dollars discount.

        • Then you still have 50 dollars credit in your Everyday Rewards account.
I also realised it's probably best to buy the cards one by one so you end up with the maximum number of 4c fuel vouchers.

        • @forumninja:
The issue is if you buy 10 cards your have 10 4 cent discount expire in 1 month. If you put fuel in once every 3 days it's great value.

As Caltex Woolworths is normally one of the cheapest in WA lve seen one person fill up 3 cars and use 1 voucher. The limit is 150 litres.

And they didn't use the same pump.

        • +1

@pandadude: Please tell me he used discounted WISH gift cards to pay.

        • @forumninja:
I never really paid attention. I would assume they did.
It surprises me the logistic they used to line up behind 3 pumps during a cheap petrol day.
To be honest it would make more sense to line up behind the same pump.

    • no stock at wynyard, heaps of $50 cards though

  • -5
  • Is the 2000 points working in Woolworths Metro store locations as well ? Anyone bought from any of the Melbourne CBD woolies metro stores ?

    • Wanna know that too.

      • +3

Damn, let's meet up and find out citygal :D

        • +1

          ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

        • +2

2000 points alone for this comment ^

    • Tried Sydney Metro stores, staff said only normal stores have it and some normal store stock it, some store don't.

      • I tried a Melbourne Metro store and they also didn't stock this gift card.

  • Anyone wanna test the 11th card and see if it gives points?

    • Too risky. Better just use your family's rewards card.

      • True. time to sign up all my family members

        • My dog can have one? Part of my family.

        • @Turd:

Is the dog's name Santa's Little Help? If not then it shouldn't be allowed it's own rewards card

    • It's easy to test, just do a dummy checkout and see if there is something on the screen when saying "Congratulations you have saved $10 for the next shopping". There is still chance that the point doesn't add to the card despite this message.

    • +1

It works for my same reward card even after the 10th cards.

  • Guys had a look at the offer in store. There isn't a limit that's stated.

  • No stock guys, all over Sydney. One or two Sydney siders bought them all. They must be now able to buy Sydney Houses!!!

Many woolies have no stock of $100 cards :(

Good luck finding $100 cards now 12noon 22nd February.

    THIS SUCKS!!

    • No $100 stock at Macquarie Centre. Plenty of $50.

  • Seriously if you find stock in Sydney you are very lucky!!

    • The Metro stores have them

      • Where??

Last time during the $88 promo they had not many $100 ones, heaps of $50.

Who in their right mind buys these ones LOL

        • I searched a few and none has gift cards…

        • I'm glad I missed out on a lot of the $88 ones last time. Those ones can only be used in store and $88 is an odd (or even) amount. These ones are $100 and can be used both in store, online and have longer expiry.

        • @forumninja: You need to sign if paying instore

      • Which Metro stores?

        No stock:
        Chatswood Rail
        Macquarie Centre
        Wynyard

        • Warringah all gone

        • None in Gordon. Only $50.

  • No stock in Midland gate…do they typically re-stock this some time later in the week, or will they all magically re-appear next Wednesday once the deal is over?

    • Nothing at Mt Hawthorn and Dog Swamp WA as well.
Pointless promotion if you don't have it at 9am on the first day.

      • That's how they drag you to get groceries !!! You get all gift cards and now gotta spend on other stuff

  • Anyone tried using the Visa cards before the weird 24 hour time limit?

    • +2

      Yes, failed

      • Serious? Does the Visa card become void?

        • +1

Once upon a time I bought a VISA1 card from Coles. Tried to use it within the 24 hours to pay a bill, it said declined. after 24 hours I used it again and it worked.

          YMMV.

Just try your one and if it fails it fails wait 24hours.

The card will still work once it is fully activated.

        • @Turd:

          Cool thanks mate
