    I'd like clarification on the 10 cards…

    • OK, I'll be the Guinea Pig. I wonder if the points are instant or if you have wait a week or something.

      • Previous experience tells me it's instant. Hence I usually finalize the transaction per gift card so I can use the savings for the next card.

        • +1

Nice. OK. Will give it a crack.

      • If you scan the card at the till, you should see 2000 points on the screen before paying. So buy one to check this is the case, and repeat with a second card - if you see 2000 points again then proceed to scan the remaining 8 (albeit $500 max per transaction).

Q: if this works would anyone go crazy and ask their family members for their rewards cards to buy more?

      • Its instant

    • +5

You will get 2000 points for EACH card, purchase 4 this morning for 8000 bonus points

      • Can you do the checkout one for all the cards, or one by one? Thanks.

  • +9

so really its $5.95 to get $10? seems like a no brainer - also could be a cheap way of getting 870 qantas points

    • I don't think you get both WOolies & Qantas points

      • You can choose "convert to qantas points" in your account to get 870 qantas points for every 2000 woolies points instead.

        • +1

          This ^

Also if I buy using my Amex Edge I get another 315 points meaning $5.95 will net me 1185 Qantas points. If I. An do that ten times that's a great deal. Then just need to find a way to use the 10 cards

        • +3

@digitalane: Use them where they don't take/surcharge AMEX.

    • +1

$0.65 cents if you use eGiftcards… Or ~$0.39 if you have any eGiftcards from 5.25% sales. Unsure on legalities, but many have said they've succeeded in doing this via self serve checkouts.

      • Nope. The cost of QF points in this case is the opportunity cost (the $10 rebate you would otherwise get from Woolworth) hence you are essentially paying $10 for 870 QF points (1.14 cents). Not ideal but okay if you redeem for business flights

        • Did you reply to wrong comment here?

But yes, you're correct, Qantas points aren't ideal. The cost of flights (in points) is usually fixed though, so on good days some flights are around 1.2-1.3 cents a point worth, but Qantas seems to target things around the 0.8-0.9 mark. That being said, the $10 Woolworths Money is only worth $9.45 as is.. So it's $9.45 for ~$7-8 usually, or more on some days.

      • +1

or ~$1.05 if you buy off potm at 7% off ;) then get the $10 back on top of that

    • -1

Just buy woolworths vouchers, that's 95$ for a $100 voucher, without the hassles

      • +1

But that can only be used at Woolies and participating stores. This one can be used at more places than those.

        • The card can, but the $4 you save is only worth something if you shop at woolworths. You also can't convert straight to ff points, only when you hit the target.

Enjoy the deal, I didn't neg it, just not deal worthy of this great site. If you save $4 then great, less money in the corporate pockets.

if you use these as temp cards,/gifts then the deal is worth it.

        • +1

          @SmithInOz:

I disagree - previously I thought the same as you but I've since had it explained the benefits - you buy the gift card with an e-card you buy at say 7% off (potm currently sells them for that) that's a free $7 in $100. Then buy your gift card at $105.95 - That's brought your prior profit to $1.05 - but then you get the $10 to spend on woolies (who in Brisbane at least have a fair few Aldi price comparable staples that I use) so then you've got $11.05 profit. It's a run around - but approximately 10% off your shops at basically an unlimited amount of shops - yeah. I'll take it.

      • +1

Why, when you can double dip for more value?

  • +4

After the fee you save $4.05 or 4.02%.

  • I got one from Coles and found out it is designed to work online ONLY.
Even in supermarket, because it doesn't have a chip, it has to be swapped and put in a PIN.
    BUT THERE IS NO PIN.

I end up use it to buy egift card through cashrewards.

    • +3

Earning you another 5%? Looks like a good way of doing it.

    • +7

so use a discounted wishcard to buy a discounted visa card to buy a discounts wishcard? noice

      • +6

Sounds like Big W gift card inception all over again.

      • Surely that could be viewed as fraud?

        • how so?

    • Really? Thought it can be used anywhere where VISA is accepted.

      Anyone has similar experience?

PS. I once had an Auspost gift card that didn't come with a PIN. (That's when signing for card purchases were only just phased out so I thought I might have had an old card cos the instruction say to sign when making in-store purchases.) I couldn't use it at Ikea but a supermarket (pretty sure it's Coles) accepted it without a PIN.

    • +2

You can use them in store, use "credit" and sign like the olden days before paypass. Found here

    • +5

No. You can use it in Coles or anywhere in storr that accepts Visa. Just swipe the card and press credit in check out. No pin required. I tried it many times.

    • It says you need to press credit so you don't need a pin?

      • Yes Miss B is right. When you press credit and the machine asks for a pin, you just press OK and it's done. You mah need to sign tho.

    • If it asks for a PIN you should be able to just press ok and it should ask for a signature instead.

    • Coles, Bunnings, & some other independent retailer did not require a PIN. Otherwise you just sign the purchase receipt old school style. If it did not work for you, you might've selected "savings", instead of "credit".

    • terms and conditions included on the leaflet inside say it's designed to be used in a face to face transaction where you hit credit and then sign for the transaction.

  • +1

How is this any better then ordering cards through cashrewards? I'd be about a dollar worse off surely?

    • +7

Buy this and then use this to get the egift card from Cashrewards.

      • +16

Why not buy an eGift Card from Cashrewards, then use the eGift Card to buy this, and then this to buy another eGift Card from Cashrewards?

Or rather.. just use this to pay for anything else.. it's versatile.

        It's a gooddealmate, I tell you.

        • If you do it 9 times in a loop, you'd gain $100 extra ($5 from CR and ~$6 from WW). If they give points for 10 cards though

      • +1

Buy this with an egift card.

      • +1

        Ah I see, thanks.

  • These need to be activated by WW staff? May be hard to pay with wish egift cards if buying bulk cards.

    • +1

I had no issues whatsoever paying at WW with ewish card via cashrewards to purchase 1visa cards

      • See ECs comments on this previous deal about being unable to buy prepaid visa gift card with a wish egift card. He reported payment got declined…

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/258767

How many did you buy in one transaction? I would like to buy in bulk like I did on this previous eftpos card deal at WW. But that card did not need staff activation, so did not have to risk prevention of payment with egift cards by staff (even at self checkout).

        • +1

i bought 2, via self service checkout and the card did require staff activation. E gift card was accepted without any issue at all

        • +4

I just bought 4 this morning, payed with e gift card at manned checkout, again no hassles no issues no questions asked.

        • @MelbBargainChaser77: Good to hear!

  • -4

Petty cash, not worthy to be put up here.

    • If you are already buying groceries then surely the extra minute of effort to save $4.05 is worth it?

    • +3

This is a 10% saving vs everyone is excited when cashrewards gives a 0.75% saving

    • +1

Combine with other offers. Posted a possible method below that results in (possibly) $20 Woolworths money for $1.34, or at least $10 for $0.65.. If it works.

  • -6
    1. Spend $100.65 on eGiftcard ($105.95 value)
    2. Buy this for $105.95
    3. Buy eGiftcard with $100 visa for -5% ($105.26 value)
    4. Buy another visa with eGiftcard +$0.70 ($0.69 on card)

    $20 Woolworths money for $1.34?
    Repeat x10?

Unsure why this is getting negged, I understand it's technically against ToS but it's never stopped anyone before? Multiple people said they tried (and succeeded) in doing similar things on past deals.

    • Your theory per card is corret but its 2000WW points which is equal to $10WW not $20 that you are claiming in your post ;)

      • +3

He's buying two Visa cards in the above example, so 4000WW points.

  • I'm just wondering if it's 2000 points per customer or 2000 points earned per card purchased? Otherwise we may earn 2000 points only when we purchase 10 cards

    • Woolies is not stupid to make us buy $1000 worth of giftcard for a measly $10 off. If they are then they've lost my business.

      • Will they regain your business at the next gift card promotion after this?

        • +1

I tend to stick with Coles because they have better flybuys promo and their points get credited within 48 hours unlike Woolies which takes 2 weeks.

        • +1

          @nightelves:

What? According to first comments points are credited instantly.

      • It's very hard to say. I'm sure Woolworths isn't dumb to know this may be coming- free $100 per person n many people scam the deal

  • +1

Spend $100 to save $4.05. May as well buy Wish gift cards at 5% off.

    • +9

If you pay with a wish giftcard bought with 5%, $100 visa GC will cost you 105.9*0.95=100.65 and $10 in the points. So you will get $100 for $90.65, or 9.35% discount. As well you'll can expand your discount world by using them in places other than Woolworths.

      • +1

This should be made into a sticky. Like seriously.

      • -3

Can you buy wish gift cards with wish gift cards?

        • +1

          Yes, you can. In Woolworths.

        • @Cupa: Hmm. That's no use then.

        • What do you want to achieve? It's pointless doing that

      • You shouldnt deduct the $10 "savings" from the $100.65, cause its in the form of Woolworth credits. If it was cashback, it's them giving away free money.

        • +3

For people who shop in Woolies it is pretty much money, I believe.
Actually I was wrong, considering the fact I used wish giftcards bought with 5% discount , the real value of those 2000 points is $9.50 (or even $9.40, considering Coles CC points).

    • Why not both?

    • Wish gift cards only usable in wow group. These usable anywhere.

      • -2

        I know. But 5% beats $4.05.

But you gets are getting clever nesting your GCs. I don't think I will go through the trouble. Plus it's a waste of plastic.

        • +5

Then you're on the wrong site.

    • +4

You are still young in the force aren't you. You must get familiar to wish-gift-card-inception

  • +2

This deal, when combined with WISH eGift cards via Cashrewards, makes a trip to Woolies worthwhile. All as a prelude to a super bonus trip to Dan Murphy's.

  • How many points do you get if you buy the giftcard from Cashrewards using the Platinum Edge?

    • 3 points per dollar.

      • +2

Sweet! First class here I come!

  • can you buy the 1st card then use that card to purchase the 2nd card?

I know you cannot use gift cards normally to purchase another gift card, the system doesn't allow it from past experience.

    • Beware, if I remember correctly, this particular VISA card takes 24 hours or so to be activated. There's a warning message on the packaging stating that if you try using it in less than 24 hours after purchasing, you risk voiding the card.

I don't know why they are allowed to run away with this when we are 3 years away from year 2020.

      • Yeah I saw that also. The cashier said that once they scanned it that it should be activated. This is the only Visa card that has that warning. Didn't think that was legal.

    • +1

Unlike in Coles, this card needs signature in Woolies.A waste of time doing like this.

    • Not really- because the value of the gift card is only $100 which is less than the amount required to purchase the egift card on cashrewards especially with the $5.95 admin fee. You won't have enough fund to pay in full.

  • Receive 2,000 bonus Woolworths Rewards points (giving you $10 off your next shop)

Are there any exceptions to the $10 off the next shop?

This is a good deal if you shop at Woolies as the ~$4 saving is tied to woolies.

  • Can you use WW reward points (ie. $10) for Opal top-ups?

    • +1

      Yes you can. I tried.

    • You can also get rewards points every time you top up as well by topping up at woolies and scanning your rewards card at the checkout

      • +1

Pretty sure Opal top up is excluded

        • No. My partner and I tried and it worked.

        • +1

          @citygal:

          maybe check your point balance?

I used to have it, then it stop. emailed Woolie, says opal card no longer earn points

        • @zoecot:
What I mean is that you can use the Woolworths points (2000 points) to recharge your Opal card. Yes you're right- recharging Opal card won't earn points tho.

  • Anyone know if AirBnb accept payments in increments of $100?

  • Will be interesting to see how this turns out…
