UNI-T and mains electricity. It might be worth pulling the power supply apart to check the soldering, earthing etc, before plugging in to the AC Supply.

    • Looks acceptable here: https://youtu.be/29P0sFswPVE?t=570
      Only one mention on eevblog.

I wonder how it compares to the ~$70 generic ones on eBay.

LOL He does the David Jones voice for "pull it apart".

    • I'm interested in the "DC Power Supply "

Do you expect them to be poor? Is there something else thats a competitive price and available?

cheap bench power supplies biggest issue (typically) is over-shoot which on 3.3 and 5v can be deadly (but is easy to avoid, as long as you power them up THEN connect the device, your good).

The thing that is perhaps a little disconcerting with this ad is that the spec's dont mention the voltage range (in the pics you can see 0-30v stamped on the front and the model number suggests its 30v). Maybe its just t-mart being poor at listing the specs, but it is a fairly important spec in such a device.

On a more personal note, i have 2 bench power supplies. Both are 0-60v, one is 10a (very good upmarket model that i didnt pay for) and a 5a which i bought when i needed a second one. The 5a is a cheap one, its a gophert CPS-6005. Some of the things i do are at 48v so 30v PSU's arent much use to me. The gophert has enough info from real users if you look around to make it a fairly well known power supply (including a number of posts on eevblog).

It does overshoot on power on (no surprises), but its never let me down. Its also quite a bit smaller than my other supply so i find i use it quite alot (and from what i've seen its smaller then most PSU's of similar spec)

But for 0-60v, 5a, Im reasonably impressed with the gophert and its often a little cheaper than the uni-t listed here.

        • Maybe its just t-mart being poor at listing the specs, but it is a fairly important spec in such a device.

I bet the t-mart staff have no idea what they're selling when it comes to equipment like this, so I'm not surprised they missed that out.

Good tip on the Gophert. Kinda looks like an inverter.

    • They aren't Keysight but I don't think they are so bad that you need to disassemble them to ensure that they have been safely manufactured.

I use two Tenma Programmable Single Output DC Bench Power Supplies 30V / 5A. They are roughly the same price.

  • Just picked up the decibel meter for less on aliexpress.

    I'd buy an All-in-One 💡
