I think it's just for the first month only.

    • +4

Yes this is just a starter kit, after the first month it will be $29.90/month if you wanted to remain on the same plan.

  • +4

    Vodafone network

    • Vodafone network is generally quite good these days, at least in Brisbane, and so long as your phone supports Vodafone bands.

  • +6

    Great for visitors from overseas!

    • +1

Exactly what i thought. Otherwise, i don't seem to find it suits most people.

      • +27

Suits SIM sluts like me too!

      • Or maybe you are planning to port your number to that company.

      • imho suits anyone looking for data, txt and calls just like any other SIM card? Disregard the international component if not using, still a good local SIM deal

  • Is 10 for first month only?

  • can i port my number from Aldi?

    • +2

Yes, you'll have the option to transfer your number when you activate the sim card, usually only takes an hour or so if you do it on a weekday, may take longer after hours or weekends.

      • whats wrong with Aldi - any issues? - Ive been fine so far with my recent port to Aldi. I get mostly better coverage than TPG, and i found Aldi swaps between 4G to 3G in more trying areas where TPG seemed to mostly jump from 4G to H+. Anyone else care to comment on a Voda to Telstra Port?

        • I like Aldi a lot, but I'm pretty sure H+ is better than 3G. 3G means 384 kb/s down and 128 kb/s up, while H+ means at least 14.4 Mb/s down and 5.76 Mb/s up.

If you are after data, this deal still wins for only $1 : Kogan Mobile Prepaid Voucher Code: EXTRA LARGE (30 Days | 14GB) - NEW CUSTOMERS ONLY with a slightly longer expiry (30th June 2017)

EDIT: Why are people negging? Im trying to help you out and save you $9.

      And you're right too!

"It's much easier to fool a man than it is to convince a man he's been fooled." - Mark Twain.

    • after 30 days, it will jump to $50

      • +4

you don't have to recharge again

        • +1

Spot on. For data ( as well as unlimited calls/text ) this $1 Kogan offer is the best Ever and Great for people happy to only use for first month ( or activate more than one with different details/number etc ), and sim hoppers/hoarders ( bit nicer than sim Sl*ts ) like myself.

        • +2

          @ozhunter68:

I am an existing customer with kogan already with the 10 gig prepaid for a year. I am also a sim slut so I purchased the 14 gig for $1. Now if I wish to buy more $1 deals, how does kogan know if I am an existing customer? when I activate it, do I need to add someone elses details i.e. drivers licence, name and dob?

        • @newjackswing:

Not 100% sure myself on this. Obviously if you connect in different name/address that would have to work, not sure if just connecting new service with different phone number in own/same name as first sim and with all same id details would work or not. This is from Kogan T & C "Unless otherwise stated, only one Kogan Mobile Product can be used per connection to the network." whatever that really means?

If someone here has experience with this please let us know as I have not connected more than one myself yet.

        • @ozhunter68: I emailed kogan with my querry, waiting for their response. Thanks for yours! I will keep you posted if I find out.

        • +3

          @newjackswing:

I think you queried the wrong place as they would not want to give you extra favours. You will get an answer from them, but probably not the one you want and not the limit of possibilities. Someone else might have experience of what worked for them, not sticking 100% to Kogans advice/rules.

        • @ozhunter68: Nah I worded it differently, as if it was a gift for my mum… alas they never got back to me, so they must have figured me out!

      • +1

2nd month one new connection :) primary SIM (PAYG) to receive calls, secondary sim for out goings and data

    • +2

And you can port out then you are no longer a customer, rinse and repeat. I bought a number of these as nbn satellite is locked in at 35Gb in peak hours in their T&C.

      • +1

how do porting work normally? I thought you're only allowed to use/activate 5 numbers or something with each identity per year.. soz i know its silly question

        • You can have more than 5 active sims. The phone company is supposed to ask for more ID if you do.

      • So, even if you have one kogan sim already connected with the $1 extra large deal, if you port a second or more number even with same name and id details, it's considered as a new service? Or port out away from kogan and back again with new sim and new number and specials $1 code?

        • +1

The way I read it when you port out and you don't have any other sims active with them you are no longer a customer. When you activate a new sim and voucher you are a new customer.

        • @iratepirate:
Thanks for reply. That sounds like it probably could be correct. From what you read, haha, seeing is believing.

I often have to activate with live chat for boost and telstra ( mobile phone sim when porting number back to them ), as my past account details from the last time I was with them ( even though I ported out ) still are on record, kind of like a shadow.
This never happens with both Optus and Vodafone.

        • +1

@ozhunter68: Within a few hours of porting out from Kogan I couldn't log back in as it said my account didn't exist. It only took 10 minutes to port to Aldi - I've got a heap of their sims I payed $1 each for as well.

        • @iratepirate:
Great news from that proven tip. Looks like connect and port, port, port it is. Cheers

    • +1

likely same people that negged me
same vodafone network, $1 vs $10, and 3x the GBs…. no brainer if you ask me.

      • +1

Although I'd say the main thing that makes this potentially better is not having to wait for delivery.

    • +1

Cracked open a new sim today, it's by far a better deal.

    • +2

Thank you EC, I cant believe I (almost) missed this deal.

    • excellent deal, thanks!

  • Do the kits have an expiry date of the 30.04.2017 ?

  • Weird it states activated prior to the end of April, unless these are newer Lebara kits I havent seen they generally dont have a expiry date

    • Maybe that date is to get this special offer.

    • Would better good to have more info on that…anyone?

  • -1

Be careful with this, last time I looked at the Lebara plans it was "up to 250 minutes international calls".

If you go to the website and put in the country you want to call, the number of minutes can be reduced, for example they were only offering 150 minutes to Indonesia.

    • -1

That's why is states "up to" ;)

      • +1

I was referring to the title of this post, which doesn't say "up to".

        • +1

Reckon you would have won the election had you not sniffed the seat mate?

        • @JohnHowardsEyebrows:

There's a very good chance I would be in the very seat I sniffed, it's really unfortunate that it didn't work out for me though.

  • It is actually $5 at AU Post on Feb.

    • You mean it was?

      • +1

        Yup~~ It was

  • Not negging it but despite living in Yeerongpilly (<10km from Brisbane CBD) the internet is shockingly slow (even with my samsung s7 edge) vs Kogan- worked phenomenal. Again, could be just where i live. Porting out today to Aldi for better coverage at work

    • Er what do you mean? Both lebara and kogan use voda networks

      • Interesting

      • He just said he was porting out to Aldi for better coverage.

        Aldi uses Telstra.

        • +3

the internet is shockingly slow (even with my samsung s7 edge) vs Kogan- worked phenomenal

he said that kogan worked phenomenal though… so not sure what the 'shockingly slow' is referring to

        • +1

@lyl: also the same in my experience. I have a feeling old Kogan sims might be somehow limited to 3G. I work centrally within Brisbane, and was surprised that I could only get H+ in the city. Tried all the usual issues, even downloaded their APN package - but no luck. Ported out to Kogan and works a charm

        • @aryan12:
Did you port from Old Kogan sim to a New Kogan sim??

        • +1

@ozhunter68: ported from Lebara (meant to be Voda 4G) to Kogan (which is actually Voda 4G) out of frustration, I dont know what the issue was… but Kogan is 100x better

        • +1

          @aryan12:

Wow, interesting. Sounds like Labara only sometimes uses part of Vodafone 3G/4G network in certain areas unless you call to fix or maybe even renew sims. Sounds like Kogan or Vodafone are safer for better/faster network service.

        • @aryan12: you can find VF Network troubleshooting guide http://vodafone.intelliresponse.com/index.jsp?requestType=No…

        • @Michael09: trust me, nothing to do with me/settings/devices… Some sims come 3G limited. Like others have commented, you may have to call CS for them to allow 4G. The packaging doesn't even mention 4G - I think soke Lebara sims are pretty old (no expiry)

    • +2

When I activated my sim it would only get at max HSPA+ data speeds. Not slow but not LTE which I should have been receiving in that location. I contacted Lebara customer service and said they'd had a few issues with this. 1 day later no signal on my mobile. After a restart, voila LTE all day. Customer service is on : 0404573563

    • drdarsh

Bit confusing not only for me. Was internet slow on mobile or cable? Is your reception slow at work ( not sure where ) with Kogan sim ( Vodaphone network ) and samsung s7 edge? You know that Aldi ( part of Telstra network ) will be better/faster there?

      • +1

Internet slow on phone via hotspot. Lebara and Kogan (new number) used at home in last 1 month. Trust me, Kogan is/was (because used all 14 GB in a week) much better.
Did not use the same sim at work. Hope thats less confusing. Glad to know others experienced the same

        • Thanks for reply.

  • +2

Not sure if this starter sim pack is the same one as the National Plan sim from the deal I posted earlier, if it is there than it might not be 4G as advertised. I am currently using (for a week now) the $29.90 National Plan sim i bought from the lebara website for $5 and I have not be able to get 4G network at all, always show up as 3G. I have used the vodafone sim pack bought from Coles for $10 for before though only 28days but at least i have 4G network and fast internet. Apparently quite a few of users reported (if you search for lebara sim review on google) of only getting 3G too.

    • +1

Not for me, excellent 4G reception with the Lebara Sims from the last deal, in.and around the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane.. I get the feeling very close if not better than what I've had with Telstra most places. In fact rarely doesn't show 4G.This is with a Xiaomi Redmi note 3 and Huawei y6 though, both band 28 plus the other 4G bands.

      • I must have dud sim then, no 4g in the melbourne cbd and Hawthorne and caulfield are, this is with iphone 6s plus and iphone 7 plus

        • +1

See my comment above, CS might be able to help.

        • +1

@ynwa:ok, just called that number and the guy said he will look into it then get back to me before COB or tomorrow, now i just have to wait and see if that fixed the problem.

        • +1

          @ynwa: finally got lte, thanks

  • Thanks great timing

  • I like tight arse. I upvote.

  • Is it a prepaid SIM?

Does anyone experience show that is it easy to port in and then out Lebara

    • Ported in and out of lebara few times without any issues.

  • +2

Anyone only getting H+ on Lebara? I have LTE activated in S7 but the csr states only in areas where 4G coverage will work. I have a Kogan SIM and i get 4G in the same area as Lebara…

    • See my comment above, CS might be able to help.

    • I was told that it's only 3G… Is there some elaborate process to get 4G?

  • Thanks OP.
If you want to call internationally, definitely check online as 250 minutes is really as little as 20 minutes for some countries. Also, there is a 6 and 12 month recharge option with an upfront payment of $300 for 12 months (saving $58.80 a year). All of their plans are on special online with the smaller plan offering incentives such as the 2nd month free on top of the discount.

  • Only 3G not 4G. Service was terrible in my area, so I ported to the $1 kogan deal. Way better!

  • Lebara has got to be the worst of the worst. lol

  • What's the cheapest year long sim for just receiving calls?

    • I'm guessing the Kogan with 1GB, costs about $10/month atm.

EDIT: that's assuming you want to make calls, too. I'm pretty sure Kogan/Aldi and the like will sell you credit valid for 365 days, which you don't need to use, but will keep the service active.

    • cheapest would be Aldi $15/365 days

  • went to 3 Coles. All sold out.

    • Call the stores first. If you're in the northern suburbs of Melb, plenty in stock at Brunswick (Barkly Square), Broadmeadows & Epping.

  • Thank. will try Broadmeadows today.

  • 1) It's not in the catalogue. Anyone know the expiry date of the deal ?

    2) Anyone know if Coles do or don't do rain checks on telecom products ?

The local Coles that I went to had ads. all over the counters, still the customer service staff had trouble finding the correct item in their system. When I asked for a rain check, they denied it.
They ended up ordering one SIM pack and will give me a call if it arrived by Wed.

    • Yes, I found there is nothing on the catalogue too yesterday.

Plus, I went to couple of stores (Box Hill, Don Caster), and none of them have stock for brand new Lebara SIM…

  • Argh too hard to get one…any alternative sim that I can get in store (not online due to the need of this on Saturday) for relative who comes over for 2-3 weeks?

    • Lucky, got the last one from coles ivanhoe. The lady said last night the offer ends too

  • It is starter pack, why is there a need to activate so quickly before 30 April 2017?

  • can i keep my phone #? i need a new plan today
