Great TV, highly recommend. Best bang for buck definitely. Amazing picture quality.

A note for potential buyers: "STOCK DUE AFTER 22nd MARCH TAKING PRE-ORDERS"

    • Luckily I don't think this TV has a microphone? :P

      • Speakers can behave as microphones. If you have a set of headphones, plug it into a microphone port and speak into them haha.

Bought this on the TGG sale back in Dec. What an awesome TV. Who cares about proper HDR? I can't notice a difference.

Totally worth the price (I paid $950 at the time)

Bought it during the same sale and very happy with the picture for the price.

The only regret is during the Boxing Day sales the KS8000 55" dropped to $1,400 and I would've rather gone for that instead as it supports the Samsung BT keyboard.

I had picked up the Samsung BT keyboard from eBay and was hoping to use it to browse the web and stuff and the 6000 series doesn't support it.

      • Haha had the same problem. Supports USB keyboards though so I'm using a wireless Logitech I got for cheap (also via ozbargain)

        • I had read reviews online that said with the USB keyboard the onscreen keyboard didn't 'auto-hide' so you ended up with wasted screen space.

Is that true? Does the TV know you are using an external keyboard and thus not display the onscreen one?

Does a mouse work? I was thinking of getting one of those Logitech or Microsoft keyboards with the touchpad on it.

        • @dbun1:
Yes it works. I have a logitech tk802 and the touchpad and keyboard work without the onscreen keyboard.

        • @blergmonkeys:

          Awesome! Thanks for confirming.

Bought this in November also from TGG for $956. I cracked the screen when I was placing it on a shelf and it fell on my head. Luckily it was covered by my credit card insurance (Coles Mastercard). Had to fork out $40 for the repair report though (literally calling a Samsung Service Centre, giving them the model and serial number of the TV, told them the screen is cracked, and the quoted a repair of $4000). $40 for like 5 minutes of actual work sigh.

Then I purchased the Series 8 model for $1495 during the Christmas sale. However, it developed a horizontal line across the screen. Got it replaced by Samsung with a Series 9 model because they ran out of Series 8.

3 brand new TVs in 3 months lol.

  • EDIT: Apparently can display HD10 ?

Rtings updated their review to say its HD10 no HD8 http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/samsung/ku6300

"Good for HDR gaming. Picture quality is good. Supports HDR10 but can't really benefit from it due to lack of local dimming and no support for wide color gamut. Input lag is low even in HDR mode. Motion blur is good."

      HDR has several components

      *Higher Bit depth
      *Higher Peak Brightness
      *Higher Contrast
      *Larger colour Gamut

On these points, this TV compares as follows

      *Good, true 10Bit
*Ok, only up to 400nits, HDR recommended is 1000nits
*Ok, has good native contrast but no local dimmming (OLED/Plasma would be ideal)
*Poor, has fairly poor coverage of DCI P3 (Better than non-HDR TVs but very low compared to HDR TVs)

So overall, won't give you the 'full experience', you will get better color detail but it won't match the punchiness of top end HDR TVs, but overall probably the best at the $1k mark.

  • How does this TV Compare to the Sony KD49X8000D 49" that is also currently 20% off?(https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/296825)
