Good find, so how about the warranty, if we have problem, how it can be fixed?

    • No idea, NetGear states it will accept warranty on any product bought from an authorised seller.. Of course they forget to include a list of these authorised vendors..

Great router. I upgraded my crappy Telstra one to one of these and it has never missed a beat.

    • quick question mate - does the r7000 serve as a modem too? I want to ditch my crappy Telstra modem/router as well but not sure if this will serve?

  • No cheap D7000 (router+modem). :(

    But thanks anyway OP.

  • Good router, excellent price

You can get it here for $199.20 with the 20% discount code.

  • Forgive my techie-knowhow fail, but… if I connect this to my less-than-awesome Telstra modem I'll notice a big difference?
    (FTTN)

    • Yes.. i use it with my crappy TPG FTTN modem and its flawless - super quick wifi and downloads

    • +1

From what I know it will make a big difference to your wireless network only. So if you've got your pc connected via Ethernet cable I don't think it makes much difference.

  • Bought, thanks

Before spending money on Netgear, please have a look at their rather massive security holes in other devices. They refuse to fix them once Netgear considers the device to be EOL.

Highly recommend Ubiquity rather than Netgear. At least they are serious about security.

      +1 for Ubiquiti

However you could always install an opensource firmware to this such as openwrt.

I would be checking compatibility with community-maintained firmware - at least then you are not tied to the manufacturer for ongoing software support and have another option.

  • I'm currently using an old Belkin modem connected to an Apple base station router for my ADSL2+ which works perfectly for my needs. I'm wondering if i will need to upgrade either when they put the NBN here ?

    • Google whirlpool NBN approved modems, can't use most modems with the new nbn

  • VERY Good router!

  • Sorry guys, noob question. Is this just a router? or a router/modem? Can I buy this and ditch my crappy Telstra modem/router?

    • router only

      • Cheers
