  • I am looking for a Surface Book deal but did not come across any.

Then I noticed in this Cyber Sale, Dick Smith is selling most of the models. I am very keen on the 256GB i5 model, but not sure if I should just throw another $320 to get the i7 (is it worth it?)

How reliable is Dick Smith with delivery of these products? Are they packaged well and arrive in tip top condition? I would be shattered if it came dented or anything like that due to a careless postie.

PS: Sorry - I am a new user, not too sure how to make a new entry, just sharing what I just found
PPS: You must use CYBER code, and make sure you don't have more than $5000 in your cart, as max discount is $1000.

    • In terms of day to day usage, an i5 is generally sufficient for the average consumer. It is really dependent on what you're going to use it for to see if you can justify a 320 dollar margin. Unless you're doing heavy computation that runs over a considerable amount of time (rendering, number crunching and statistical modelling), you won't notice a significant difference between the i5 and i7.

I can't answer for the rest because I haven't purchased anything from Dick Smith before.

  • +1

Just received notification that mine has been shipped for the 256gb 8gb ram model

    • When did you place the order?

      • 16th of March

        • My order seems going to be dispatched tomorrow as I ordered on 17th :)

        • +1

@yxia: Once shipped seems it arrives very quick. Just received mine today in 24 hours

        • @yxia:

Did you get a tax invoice with it? I want to claim back the GST on mine when I go on holiday in three weeks.

        • @littlegreenman: They still haven't sent yet…

  • Finally got a reply and still not shipped yet. Think they are really struggling to get stock! I ordered on the 19th. They said 10 business days before shipping, which would actually be tomorrow. By how they replied, I don't think the customer service person realised that.

  • Missed it. Bugger

  • it's taking soooo long to arrive!!!

  • No word on shipping, no reply to my question on Friday last week about expected shipping or stock. :( i5 256gb 8gb version

I skipped out on other deals for this one, if they cancel I'll have nothing to fall back on :/

    • Ordered late on 17/03 btw. Has anyone who ordered around then had theirs ship?

  • Update : Finally got a reply from Dick Smith. They are blaming customs for the hold up and that I should be getting tracking info by Tuesday next week. They also offered a $50 Dick Smith evoucher as compensation. In my email to them I was complaining about the delay and how it has inconvenienced me and if some compensation could be offered

    • Thanks for the update! I purchased the same day as you so lll be in the same boat. Been itching for it to arrive, a bit annoying we have to wait longer for it but i oh well, better than getting a refund.

  • Woohoo posted today

    • Received today. Mine is a UK/Singapore plug. They sent a separate parcel with a white AU plug cable. Unfortunately its got a stupid right angle on the plug

  • The invoice has GST for the i5//256gb/8gb version. Now to claim the GST component
