  • Thanks OP needing something healthy after a big weekend

      Is Boost juice healthy?

      • +1

I'm going to say it is healthier for you since they have fruit and vegetables on offer.

My favourite is Protein Supreme (usually $9, but will be $4.50 :-) tomorrow). You could say that the sugar content is high but that's only because it has dates and honey in it - but aren't those food items supposed to be good for you? Read it how you will, because I need my half price Boost tomorrow!

        • +4

The blending process destroys the fibre and other nutrients. Eat the whole food instead

        • @Skimpywallet:

          http://www.incrediblesmoothies.com/green-smoothies/faq-green…

Besides, if it's good enough for Bruce Lee to blend his food (including meats), then I'm on board :-)

        • +2

Honey is much higher in calories per gram than sugar (from sugar cain). Yes it has some other properties that are good for you, but if you want to maintain a healthy weight it won't include honey or very little of it :)

Eating full fruit is the way to go.

      • +3

I was going to ask the same thing, however, I've noticed they've really watered down their drinks and for the price it isn't worth it if it tastes like water.

        • +2

Mate I'd be more worried about your water if it tastes like boost!

        • +2

Definitely noticed the decline in their juice quality. I sometimes get the caribbean green or 5 vege drink and they're so watery :/

      • compared to 30 nuggets and chips I would say so

      • +1

You should have 2 servings of fruit a day, due to the sugar. If you look at how many servings of fruit are in a Boost, it's a lot higher. You end up having 3+ days worth of sugar in a single drink (you should be having 20-25g of sugar daily).

        • Isn't that just added sugars? Not natural sugars found in fruits etc.? That being said, my assumption is that boost would use some products in their drinks with added sugars.

        • @jjjaar: All sugar is natural. If it's blended and not real pieces of fruit, your body processes it the same which is usually converted to fat. Fruit juice isn't healthy because it's hi GI.

        • @simmomelb: I meant natural in its purest form vs refined sugars that are added to products.

    • Do they actually make juices with real fruit/vegies or is it essence from a bottle these days.

      • +1

Real fruit and veggies my friend… you can watch them make it.

  • +1

not sure if the store in UNSW will honour the deal?

  • +6

It's claimed to be healthy but with all th sugery content it's a different story. But for half price my friend go for it, it's more healthy then a 7-11 slurpy for sure!

    • -3

Sure but it's natural sugar depending on what you get

    • +4

if i wanted to be healthy I would just eat an apple. And let's all be honest, nothing healthy will ever taste this good.

    • more healthy then a 7-11 slurpy for sure!

If they both use HFCS, they're about the same. Certainly won't kill you, if you partake on an ozbarginers schedule.

      • Sure about that? next to no soft drinks in AU use HFCS. USA is a different story

        • We use cane sugar, which is practically the same thing. Fructose (without the fibre of the fruits body) over long periods shows much of the same symptoms as alcoholism, since it is the unfermented form.

But to not sound like a hysterical facebook mother, the volume over time has to remain high. Im sure ozbarginers are far more picky than that.

    Age of Mythology ftw!

    • +2

Age of Empires II > all

  • Is this deal cheaper than those recent $5 Tuesday deals?

    • +1

Yeah coz the normal price for an 'original size' (aka big) is $6.9. This should make it $3.45 instead of $5.

      • $7.30 i saw yesterday no?

        • I've only been to 2 or 3 and they all said $6.90 although it'd make sense to have different prices depending on location.

  • +1

What's with all the discounted Boosts recently? Who wants to bet that sales aren't so good. Large sizes are upwards of $6 (6.70 if i remember correctly). It's just not worth it, especially considering the sugar content.

    • +1

      Declining sales plus winter coming

      • -1

Is that a game of thrones reference I see in there?

        • Needed the 'is'.

        • Typical, game of thronie's.

    • +1

I honestly dont think too many people take advantage of the FB/app offers. Plus, boost seems to get busier in the afternoon, perhaps they need to keep the skinny 18yo blondes they employ busy during the mornings too

  • +4

The thumbnail pic must be a depiction of the Canadian version, aye?

  • +9

I hate how the founder comes across as such a biatch on TV. Such a nasty person.

…has a nasty habit of always saying, with a smile 'I think you/you're idea/business are bullshit'… then after lowering everybodies expectations & completely bagging the idea makes an offer!

Here's a fact Janine, you're juices aren't healthy, with more sugar than coke. Your marketing is full of lies, or rather, bullshit.

    • +3

She's also really greedy on shark tank lol; she was my least favourite shark

  • +1

Anyone tried making their own boost juice at home without all the unnecessary sugar crap?

    • +6

What makes your juice at home any better? Are you saying they add extra sugar crap in to their drinks?

  • +2

Boost Juice’s ‘Brekkie to Go-Go Super smoothie’ contains 2560kj, 500kj more than a Big Mac (2060kj) and 18 teaspoons of sugar. Alleged Govt. funded health program:-

    http://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/health/diet/new-survey-find…

    • That's outrageous considering recommended sugar per day is 9 teaspoons for a male! It looks like in one awful smoothie you have twice the amount! That's bullshit Janet!

      • +1

        Hello

        • +1

hi there. are you Janine in disguise?

        • +1

@hell0: is it me you are looking for? I can see it in your eyes… i can see it in your smile

  • +1

    Brilliant…breakfast sorted…thanks OP

    • +1

Hope you've got your health insurance sorted too lol

  • +11
    • complains that boost juice is unhealthy and has too much sugar
    • has no problem scoffing down 9 pieces of KFC chicken or 20 nuggets in one sitting

    OzBargain logic.

    • Tbh if you don't eat a lot of fruit it's probably not bad for you once in a while. Deep fried nuggers are always gonna be bad for you lol.

    • +11

But KFC's marketing doesn't claim/imply that their chicken is healthy - it's more that OzBargainers don't like being misled.

    • Let's be honest, only OZB neckbeards would be eating that kind of food any more than once a week.

    • -2

24 nuggets for $10 when the deal is on thank you very much, and currently 30 nuggets + 2 Large sides for $15.95 using the Xpress App

  • +1

Just got mine from cbd.. it's so watered down to the point of being almost gross.

When i get boost from outter suburbs it's not half bad as this

    • got mine from hurstville westfield (sydney suburbs) and it's watered down as well. I guess it's nationwide then.
I won't bother with this stuff anymore.

      • Yeah same.

Actually maybe after tomorrow they have a $5 deal on a Choc Chia smoothie, damn i can't resist

  • I got a protein supreme.. just sensational!

    • Same here. It taste pretty thick and healthy. But I'm a bit suspicious regard protein content. I normally get a protein kick but I didn't feel anything after gulp down this tasty shake.

  • Thanks for posting the deal! Got my entire office to pickup a smoothie for breakfast.

  • +5

Haha 100 student long que at Melbourne University boost with 5 mins left

  • No line at Rhodes this morning, give or take a few office workers and I had my rather gluggy smoothie within 5 minutes. The new chocolate Chia one was not as good as my usual "weekend warrior" but hey I paid $3.50 for it so I ain't complaining

  • So is it 12pm or is it 3pm?

Why isn't this expired? Post title says 12pm

    • +1

Think it's to do with time difference between western and eastern states

    • 12pm local time.

  • I'm not sure why Boost is so popular.

People think it's healthy when it contains a crapload of sugar to make it taste good.

  • Was perfectly timed for a post-tooth-extraction cold drinks day, thanks OP.
