iPhone 4 compatible car kit $19.98 plus ~$10 shipping

40

This popped into my email today. Looks like a good deal… includes an FM transmitter and appears to be a rod that pokes out through your car charger socket. It's listed as iPhone 4 compatible.

I've bought one, will see how it goes. I hope it doesn't set my car on fire, thankfully I have fire insurance.

  • I've just bought one as well and gonna to pick it up today. Will see if the sound is clear enought.

Just got mine from their warehouse. As I am too early to pick up, I got their demo unit. (Doesn't matter as long as it works but they missed my remote in box…need to go one more time)

This thing is pretty solid and the arm is strong. The plug have some silicone position fixers, never rotating. One thing which impress me is the sound qulity, really clear and full of bass! Have backlight on the LCD FM setting screen. Also have a USB port at the side for my GPS power supply. The phone holder hold well and have a release button at the side, press to release. That's it.

      • Thanks a lot for reporting back.

        • hi, it's $8 shipping, not $10 :)

          • @ozstock: same as ebay then, great deal

    It's cheaper from here:

    but probably slower shipping.

I own one and it works well.

    • Oh…I got a expensive one… @_@"

    • Yeah sorry. It seemed cheap to me based on stuff I'd seen in Dick Smith, and because I was about to fork out $80 or so on a Griffin Tech RoadTrip.

      • Griffin one always looks better!
Sometimes I prefer a 3.5mm audio jack rather than use the ipod plug to get the audio as I can use on other audio sources as well. Yes, I am greedy. :P

The arm on these things (if it's the same as the DealExtreme one), is pretty much useless - I bought one, and it won't stand upright on it's own, plugged into your Cigarette lighter port. When you go around a corner it will just rotate and fall over… I still use it for a charger + FM transmitter though, just have it resting on my cup holder!

    • I second that. The problem is that the weight of the iPhone is quite heavy to support. So unless the cigarette lighter connection is tightly fitted, then there's a good chance it will swing left or right.
