Part of the "up to 75% off floor stock" happening at all Supercheap Auto's today and tomorrow.

  • Bugger, seems to be no stock at SCA around me.

Don't stress about it, you're far better of spending more for an inverter model. They may be $200-300, but you'll not end up kicking the thing because you struggle to get a decent weld and breaking your big toe on it because it's just a bloody heavy transformer.

Geeze - why do you arc up and stick it into this poor little welder?

      • Thanks for the advice. I was considering purchasing this for working on my trailer and ute tray.

    To the dissenters:
Sure you'll struggle with welding car sheet metal etc, but I've saved at least $1000 in tradesman fees doing a variety of tasks, using these welders for jobs they are suited to.
    This bargain is a bargain!

    • What is it suitable for?

      • +1

IMO Thick steel like gate hinges, broken Garage door brackets, trailer rear door hinges etc. I made a Potbelly stove from a 9kg lpg bottle welding door hinges onto the bottle for my motorhome, as an example.
But with great effort, I successfully welded many rust areas (steel plates) onto the thin sheet metal of a Subaru wagon floor, and passed the police pits. So any steel can be welded roughly by amatuers like me.

It can save lots of money doing repairs yourself.

  • I have a Repco equivalent, and it is useful. I do recommend an auto darkening helmet though, makes welding MUCH easier to learn. About $50 online.

  • just grabbed one from Noarlunga (SA) last one :)

    thanks OP
