Posted this yesterday but the price increased after a few minutes so had it removed, seems like it is available again now (hopefully it stays like that). It beats the more expensive and shorter cable AliExpress deal which was posted yesterday afterwards (that deal was also expired for most of the day, shortly after posting due to a price rise). Thanks to camel_racer for the heads up.

    showing Au $7.29 to me

    • +2

shows as $3.99USD (or $5.30AUD) for me.

      • I bought at 4 at $5.30. I lost like 50c. Its okay, not worth the time to fix it.

    • +4

It takes a few seconds for the page to update from the old price, it will flicker the 22% off price initially then update to the 43% off price. Try refresh if still have issues or it might fix itself in cart anyway.

    • I had to refresh a few times to see $3.99.

  • Great cable, have used it for the last year or so, very happy with it.

    Why no USB-C to USB-C :(

    • I'd love a certified USB-C to Lightning at 2m length cable at this price too.

  • Sorry for being oblivious but does this support QC?

    • +1

technically I think it shouldn't - afaik, Qualcomm QC (eg. QC2.0/QC3.0) is not compliant with the USB-C standard. USB-C "quick charging" is done in a different way than Qualcomm QC.

do you have a USB-C device that supports qualcomm QC? (I'm not even sure if that is even possible! there are chargers that can do both, but not sure about devices that use both. but I haven't kept up with the developments on QC, so I don't really know!)

edit: just did a quick search - it looks like there ARE devices out there by HTC and LG that use USB-C and QC3.0 (Google devices use USB-C quick charging, not QC). technically these devices are non-compliant, but qualcomm says it's fine to use QC3.0 over USB-C.

      https://www.extremetech.com/mobile/227188-google-engineer-wa…
      https://www.engadget.com/2016/04/24/qualcomm-defends-quick-c…

given the advertising says it's compatible with QC2.0/3.0, I'm assuming they will work with QC (even if that is non-compliant with the USB-C spec!).

      • This cable supports Qualcomm QC3.0. Works on my LG G5, displays fast charging. As above, the specs list that it supports voltages of up to 12V and amperage of up to 3A at 12V. I've got 5 of these cables; 1 in each car with a quick charge adapter, one for my phone at home, one for my partner's phone at home and a spare one for the lounge room.

Qualcomm quickcharge just needs the cable, charger and device to support voltages of up to 12v at around 1.5A off the top of my head. I think the newest standard has variable voltage up to 20V. QC over usb-c is listed on the qualcomm site https://www.qualcomm.com/products/features/quick-charge

The only device that comes to mind that this cable may not support at full speed charging is the oneplus 3t. From the specs, that device's quick charge works at 5V 4A, whereas this one is rated at 3A. Might need someone to test charge times or use a battery testing app to confirm.

      • They don't support USB-PD, and just implement the protocol over the data channel like they did on USB-A.

        • USB-PD needs a USB-C to USB-C cable as far as I know

        • @twister292: The initial PD pre-dates USB-C.
          Rev 2 came out with/for C.
The upcoming rev 3 will support 10 mV steps amongst other things - should allow for some fancy stuff.

        • @McFly:

Yep, but using USB-PD for higher power outputs means the USB-A ports don't normally support the standard…it's only implemented en-masse on USB-c devices AFAIK?

Is this a good usb c cable according to benson leung?

    • afaik, the previous model was tested and approved by Benson, but this model has not been tested.

  • +2

what is the point of making USB-C cables that are only capable of USB2 speeds??

    • Cheaper than USB 3.1

    • +1

A better question would be why are practically all mobile USB-C devices only 2.0.

      • Apple and Google want to get people out of the habit of connecting their phones to their computers to sync data. It is the 21st century after all, the cloud and wireless connectivity is meant to take care of all that.

        • +1

This is true. Too bad Australia's internet f**king sucks, and will do for the foreseeable future. I'm still on ADSL2 with no sign of NBN for at least 18 months (more like 3 years) and iiNet throttles our speed every second day for 1-3 hours during peak times, from 12mbps to 1mbps. Then they blame 'intermittent line anomalies'. Bastards.

        • @bohdud: Also yes, cloud storage, where they can make a profit off charging subscription fees for storage while they analyse all your photos and other data for marketing purposes. Genius.

Apple and Google want to get people out of the habit of connecting their phones to their computers

I don't care what Google wants, and as for Apple…

        • @bohdud: Well Google Photos is completely free for photos of up to 16 Mega Pixels so no subscription there. They do analyze the photos but because of that their photo searching ability is extremely powerful and handy.

      • I guess this helps justify 2.0 C cables. I hadn't thought of that. The only C devices I own are SSDs and flash drives capable of 250-500mbytes/sec. I suppose part of the answer to your question is again cost and secondly size. I imagine the extra data pins for 3.0 would mean extra circuitry, chips, valuable space inside a smartphone. I mean when they are ditching microSD slots to save space, that illustrates how cutthroat the miniturisation business is haha.

    • 1.8m ???
      I haven't seen USB3 cables longer than 1m.

      • +1

3.1 gen 1 cables can be up to 2-3m - it's gen 2 that only allows up to 1m.
Anyway, this cable is USB 2.0…

Don't suppose anyone would know if this suitable for charging/powering a Nintendo Switch?

    • +1

Should be fine as long as you have a outlet (power bank, wall socket) that can provide at least 15V 2.6A/39W output. Also note that the switch doesn't support quick charging.

Whats the point are posting stuff that has a 50/50 chance of turning up?

Bangbad are useless on tracked goods. Unless I'm missing something this is untracked - better off playing a poky.

  • Damn! Got so excited about price and bought two without realising that they are not for iPhones. Damn damn… I have emailed support to cancel the order, does anyone know if it's easy to cancel it?

    • +1

Just following the OzB way. Buy 1st, ask questions later. Stick 'me in the drawer, you'll need them one day

    • You'll just have to sell your Iphone and get a real phone ie. one with a USB-C connector.

    • +2

All sorted, they were kind enough to cancel the order.

  • Would this cable work with the OnePlus 3T Dash charging?

    • I had time to check, apparently it does not support Dash Charging. Only OnePlus offers them, at least officially.

  • I have an LG G4 and a reversible blitzwolf cable, which falls straight out any time I try to plug it in. Won't 'lock in' to my G4 but has no issues with my Samsung tablet and my partners Samsung phone.
Anyone else have this issue? This does seem to look a little different to my older cable.

    • +1

      ?
      G4 isn't USB-C.

  • can anyone recommend a power wall plug to go with this?

    • If you need to get a new adapter anyway you may as well look for a USB-C one…

  • Is it coming up as $7.13 for anyone else?

  • Bought one for my OnePlus 3T, hopefully dont have to wait a month for this.

  • Does anyone know car charger for this cable with output for single usb port up to 12V/3A ?

  • Looks like it's available again at US $3.99, let me know if you don't see it.

  • Bought one now for my Redmi Pro :-)

  • Please read the reviews about the seller before purchasing anything… They are not even registered in Australia and ACCC does not accept complaints. I haven't received my product and lost my money inspite of going through PayPal, ANZ (cashback), auspost and now ACCC!

  • Use "12blitzw" as promo code on Banggood.com when buying those cables (appears to be working with all sellers) for an extra 10% off.

  • its no longer that price

  • Mine arrived today

  • Mine came Thursday (3 weeks exactly).
