Sony PSP Go + 10 Games @ JB Hi-Fi - $299 with FREE Shipping

351

For those looking for a PSP Go, I think this is a great deal from JB Hi-Fi.

$299 with 10 games (download off PlayStation Store) + FREE Shipping (when paying with PayPal).

The free games offer is only for Australian consoles, so while you may be able to find a PSP Go for a bit cheaper on eBay, they will more than likely be imports not eligible for this offer.

Great price but the PSP Go is still as unpopular as ever.

    • What are the differences between this and the old one anyway?

      • Smaller, lighter and no custom firmware on it.

      • +2

The main difference is it's download-only; you can't play regular hardcopy versions of PSP games on it. Which is the main reason it's selling so poorly.

        • +2

ye the GO has never really taken off, because its download only and sony controls the prices so hardly ever a good deal on games, games are always RRP and no returns. wayy to expensive too when it came out, i cant see this console ever being good.

        • Go also has Bluetooth 2.0 and a game pause/resume function that allows you to stop playing a game, mess around with other stuff like Internet browsing or music etc or even play a different game and then resume playing the first game at the exact same point you were at without having to reload from the start as it saves the state in it's memory.

        • +1

There was talk of an add-on that lets you play UMDs but I don't know how that's going =\
Some people like the download-only aspect of the PSP go though

          • @76F: It was an external UMD drive developed by Logitech. It would connect through the mini USB port.
I'm not too sure of the state of the project now, though.

so tempted to neg this cos the perty hannah montana psp deal is way better/cheaper ?(yeah, i said it)

    • The hannah montana psp is $250, it's older model psp, and only comes with 1 game. How is it better? Yes you can hack it, but I don't think that should be taken into consideration when comparing.

  • It's worser because the PSP Go doesn't have a UMD slot so it can't play any of PSP games thats on disc. Which is still by large the greater majority of them. PSP Go games have to be bought & downloaded onto memory so it'd also take up a lot of download quota too.

hey guys, pssst, i wasnt serious lol

    • The only good game I can think of that isn't on the psn store is Kingdom Of Hearts. Not my kind of game anyway to be honest so it doesn't bother me too much.
How big is your download quota that you can't download a few games? They average around 300mb to 600mb with a few like Monster Hunter, Little Big Planet and GTPSP just around the 1GB mark.

PSP GO is no GO for me.

    • +5

I see what you did there…

  • Im not sure if that last line is correct,
I purchased my PSPGo from the US and managed to registered it on the Au PSN and get my free copy of Gran turismo and other games.

    • You must have gotten an EU version. The offer is only available to Europe and Australia/NZ. Most cheap ones on eBay though are from the US or Hong Kong.

I love my PSP Go, it's a far better console if you don't have any need for dead media like UMD. I had a few hacked PSPs and to be honest have maybe owned two UMDs, I hate carrying them around. I know we can use a memory stick and buy games straight from PSN but the price of a 16GB MS Pro is atrocious. I have my 16GB Go and an 8GB M2 card. It kicks ass as it is so much more useable on the go (no pun intended) but it is smaller and more portable and fits in your pocket without looking like you have an elephant man boner and it also plays all the emulators and homebrew I want (google "HBL r97")

    • 16GB Sony MS Pro Duo's are down to $66 at MSY or $59 for a Sandisk one. Just thought I'd put it up here. While they are still very expensive, they are coming down in price.

the 10 games are all average
    u need to download it
u need to buy future games online (no discounts), can buy pre owned
    cant share games with friends
if you previously ahd a psp u need to buy those games again
    the controls are different too

    • +2

Sorry to inform you of this but you don't know what you're talking about.

      a) There are discounts on the PSN store every week, I have bought all of my top titles at discounted prices.

      b) Those average games are amongst the best on PSP or any handheld console.

      c) You can share your purchases with up to four other consoles (friends) The games will work on 5 activated consoles, same as the PS3.

This console is not a replacement for the current phat and slim consoles, it is an alternative for those who want a much more portable console and don't mind purchasing the games instead of pirating them.
I share my account with my nephew and a couple of good friends, we buy stuff together and therefore get already discounted games (some already at half price (check out the PSP Essentials sale from last month) at a further reduced price to ourselves by splitting the cost 4 ways. The only game I have purchased full price is Metal Gear Solid PeaceWalker at $49 and that was becauseI couldn't wait to get hold of it and wanted the others to try it out.

      • +2

that is sorting of pirating them….

        • +1

Baby steps dude, I'm a reformed pirate, the first step is to admit it to yourself, lol.

Oh and if you think that's bad you don't wanna see my 1.5TB Jtag 360, the iX 1.6 Live Elite, 16GB AK2i DSi, 750GB modded Wii or the contents of my 32GB jailbreak iPhone (IOS4) :)

  • It should be noted that if you were to go and by "the old" PSP from GAME, JB, or EB or such, that that would also not be able to change firmware.

I bought a red PSP-3000(4) a couple of months ago and am very happy with it, despite since discovering that I will likely never be able to change the firmware - and there's only one reason for me to do that.

The 3000 looks nice, is very light, and nice in the hands. It's a very impressive piece of kit too, especially given it's age. Also I purchased a photofast micro SD card holder that allows you to use 2x8gb micro SD cards as if it were the one 16gb Sony card. It works fine and cost around $50 via crazysales.com.au including 2xgb micro SD cards.

The best thing about the PSP though is the low cost of games. Dick Smith have been having a sale and i've picked up several games for $20 or less. I've got about 10 games now but only played 3 because each have been excellent and addicting - GT, Motorstorm, Fat Princess.

$299 with the 10 games though really is a bargain and you wouldn't go wrong with this purchase as long as you like the look and feel of the Go. If you were to sell it in a couple of years time you'd still get what at least $150, $200.

    • Why can't you change your FW? Not as though anything good has been added for a while, they've all been security updates to block the Patapon/HBL exploit. I'm pretty up to date with PSP stuff. Up until a week ago I ran the biggest PSP hacking site on the web. There is an ISO loader coming for all models of PSP (including Go) It's a matter of time (and not going past FW 6.20)

      • Serious? which site was that.. i visit quite a few

        • +1

You'd know if you use it, psp-hacks.com, I dropped out a few weeks ago after my second spell in charge. Gonna be back in there soon though when I get more spare time on my hands.

          • @[Deactivated]: Wow. I used that site until my 1000 broke about 4 years ago.
Hopefully you can get back to it!

  • This is an awesome deal, newest console + 10 games, amazing. and it's shipped to you, it hasn't been as popular as the previous PSP but it's still good.

a bit of a read if you want to know the pros/cons and how it compares to the old PSP:
    http://digg.com/gaming_news/PSP_Go_is_a_failure_Surprised

can be seen as a bit biased, but it basically lets you know what you may expect of it.

  • Fishpond had a psp go and 10 games for $160 a while back.

    • +2

      1) If so, they probably only had 3 in stock (as they tend to do)
      2) What's the use of telling us now? I don't see it on ozbargain. Why didn't you post it if you knew about it..

      • Al Gore called. He's looking for you.

        • +1

          That's cause he's thuper therial.

      • I think 3 is spot on. I posted it, but I ended up getting it deleted, as by the time it was published the deal was over. Good 'ol Fishpond :)

"If you own a PSP Go and are limited to downloaded games only, you will often need to wait for games to be released on the PlayStation Network after they're released in stores, and sometimes they're not even released for download at all."

    • +3

Your opinion doesn't change the fact that this IS a bargain for those that want a PSP Go. Please show me where you can get a better deal. When you do that, then you can neg this deal. Negging it because of something you don't like is not how the voting system works.

    • +2

      For instance?

Apart from KOF I don't know of any other? Also release dates are pretty much bang on the same. I feel that PSP Go bashing is a trend among those who don't know much about the system.

Also that isn't a worthy neg.

  • No Free Postage but still an amazing deal.

  • Thanks! Picked one up yesterday.

Just to let everyone know. The 10 free games are via redemption so you will be waiting.

Sony claims this takes less than a week in most cases but can take upto 30 days to recieve your code.

I love it tho. Very cool

Update Got my code. Only took 24hrs
