Fuji Xerox M225DW DocuPrint Mono Laser Printer $113.05 (Was $159) @ The Good Guys eBay C&C

1300
CAU5

I purchased this Printer at the full price of $159 3 months ago but it has now gone to an even better price of $119. Thanks to Price Hipster.
Mine personally is working great, the wireless printer works a treat and it scans extremely quickly and I don't find it noisy at all.

Toner can be found on ebay for around $15-$20.

I checked some stock and appears to be plenty available. You could try price matching the $119 price at Officeworks with an extra 5% off if you can find any in stock.

Mod: Updated deal from TGG website $119 to eBay store for $113.05 using CAU5 code.

I too can highly recommend this printer. The ebay toner is also on par with the authentic Fuji toner.

      • +6

is this a printer you buy again when the toner runs out?

Have you read any of the comments?
        Did you read the description?
Sheesh, people take their time to post information and you can't be bothered to read anything beyond the title.

      • i have a $19 dell printer like that, think i caught wiff of it here on ozb many moons ago.

  • Great! I have just found out it has a manual tray as well. I may change all my old HP printers to these. Which eBay seller has good after market toners?

  • +4

Get it off TGG eBay here for $113.05 with CAU5 code if you are quick (expires at midnight)

Edit: Code got extended so I'll add it to OP.

      And cashrewards cashback.

It was $94 a few years ago :)

    • +2

      i +1'd that deal.

      • +2

        Then or now?

        • You can't +1 a deal that's a few years old.

  • awfully good price for it.. And here I am actually in the market for a mono multifunction.

Anyone have any idea how it compares to the Brother MFC-L2740DW. I'm asking mainly in terms of build quality and ease of operation and cost of consumables. Will appreciate it if anyone who knows could chime in.

    • I've been keeping my eye on that Brother model for ages. It has one-pass duplex scanning - not sure if this one does.

      • This doesnt do duplex scanning, only duplex printing. (I have one)

  • I have the older model of this printer DocuPrint CM205fw and can confirm; it's an absolute work horse

  • The printer does duplex printing but does it do duplex scanning? I don't see it mentioned on the FX product page

    • +2

No, I dont believe this model does (at least for the price point). Model M265 z support duplex scanning

      • Correct, it does not support duplex scanning. Multiple pages through the feeder, yes, but only 1 sided.

  • Is it a network printer?

    • +2

Yes, it has both Ethernet and Wireless network connectivity

      • oh I meant is it a printer that can be connected to a computer network and can be accessed from many different computers?

        • +3

Yes, it can, that's what I meant. You can connect it to a network via the Ethernet connection or wirelessly. It doesn't need to be attached to a computer.

  • I purchased this Printer at the full price

    🤕

  • looking for something to spend the $20 voucher from TGG i got today.. could use it on this.

  • +1

Have one of these, highly recommended. Bought toner from AU before through: https://www.inkstation.com.au/advanced_search_result.php?sea…

  • +8

Got a $20 voucher from tgg today I won't be using. Can only be used in store or online (excludes ebay). Expires 4/4/17. If anyone is interested pm me.

    • +3

      Code is gone

      • Many thanks Xpertbastard!

  • +4

thanks OP. I went to officeworks straightaway after reading this deal. and got further 5% off. i was eyeing this for a while already, waiting for my ink printer to run out of ink before i buy this.

  • +1

Awesome printer. I also purchased a few months back at full price, but have no regrets.

Printing is quick and the quality is excellent, whilst having an auto duplex printing option is great.

Scanning is simple to set up and use, and can either scan a single page at a time on the main glass, or scan multiple pages through a feeder on top. Unfortunately, it cannot duplex scan 2 sided documents using the feeder, which is the only negative I can say about it.

Finally the wireless functionality just works. Easy to set up and no problems connecting to it from multiple PCs and laptops.

    Overall, highly recommended.

  • brought this printer from good guys a few days ago for 159, already open and used, does anyone know if price protection work with themselves not just competitors

    • +2

(sigh) BUY another 1, return the new one with your old receipt

      • -1

        serial number doesn't match?

        • +2

          No one cares!!

        • serial numbers are never on receipts otherwise it would be an opened box.

        • -1

          @CVonC:

serial numbers are never on receipts otherwise it would be an opened box.

Sheesh, clearly you have never purchased anything more expensive then a Kmart toaster because believe it or not they put a serial number on the outside of the box for most products sold that have serial numbers.

        • @Maverick-au:

Either way it's still not on the receipt.

        • @CVonC:

It's still not on the receipt.

Some receipts have it, some don't but it doesn't mean they don't record the serial number at the point of sale.

        • +1

@CVonC: Computer shops do it, big chains don't.

    • If you still want to return the printer so you can get this deal you could try returning it under the Competition and Consumer Act. Unless I'm wrong this printer doesn't have a fax function on it.

On the Good Guys website it says that the M225DW has a:

built-in fax enables you to send facsimiles quickly and easily

Which means that you could take it back and ask for a refund since it doesn't have a built-in fax function.

  • If you're interested in really cheap toner then perhaps try refilling. I've bought from Tonerstop before for my Brother printer, and it was a breeze to refill when following the included instructions. Their toner for the Fuji printer is here. They've also got an eBay store that can sometimes be cheaper.

  • I also have this printer, it is one of the best printers I have ever owned, and it is by far the best in terms of value. My whole family loves this printer. It is a tremendously good printer.

    • +8

      Donald, is that you? ;)

      • Username checks out ;-)

  • +6

This is hilarious…I decided to check Static Ice for comparable prices of this printer and found it advertised for nearly $157K!

Good find, OP! You just saved me $156,874.00!!

    • ebay it.

  • Can this printer do ADF double side scanning?

    • no, you need brother mfc-l2740dw for that job

      • Thanks mate :) Do you have one of them, how its scanning performance? does it get stuck all the time, I got a canon MF printer most of the time get jammed.

        • so far so good, no jams
you can also run a quick search in the forum and see how others feel about that one

  • Out of stock in Melbourne, but there is availability in mornington and Bendigo

Delivery at @$35 kills the deal

  • Is this suitable for light home use? My inkjet printer always dries out after a few weeks of no printing then cleaning the head uses up a lot of ink which is a waste. Wonder if laser won't have this problem? TIA.

    • I got it for the same purpose about two years ago and it's still printing off the original toner cartridge (light printing, few dozen pages a month, probably had long stretches without being used at all).

Very impressed overall, hasn't broken down once (unlike every inkjet I've owned). Networking is a bit of a pain but wireless printing is awesome once configured. Certainly don't miss replacing dried out ink cartridges!

    • I bought my first laser 17 years ago after endless ink issues. Loved it so much bought a 2nd for redundancy, even paid for extended warranty and on the original Win XP one could hot swap.
The redundant one never had to be put into service and we had to go overseas for a family reason. 3 years later I started printing again, the first had 3 toners thru it and showed signs of wear so I tried the unused one. Big wide streak thru it!!
Spent endless hours trying to make one good one out of 2. Turned out a monster cockroach gone thru it and I had to write the unused machine off!

Lesson learned: use it or loose it!

  • Do these also wirelessly scan?

  • Can anyone recommend a reliable, wireless colour laser printer with cheap good quality toners available on eBay?

  • Excellent printer. Probably done 20k+ pages on mine by now, had zero issues. Very reliable and fast. Recommended.

  • should i cave on this one? was hoping to get a colour one instead. any recommendations for under $200?

    • i wish it was colour too :(

  • Lucky, if this had been posted a day earlier I'd have bought it. Found a CANON LBP3300 on the side of the road, spent $17 on a toner cartridge, works fine but spent all my spare time the past couple of days trying to connect it to Linux either through my tomato router or my Linux torrent box. Eventually installed a windows VM as a print server.

    InB4: Cool story bro.
    Night!

      Cool story bro.

      InB4: Cool story bro.

Whoops I was so engrossed in your tale that I missed this.

    • bought a Fuji CP215w for $5 on Gumtree, supposed to be out of toner and was for a year under an open patio in the tropics.

Only thing I had to do is to press the WPS button on my modem and it printed like new, plenty of original toner left.

Now that I have put in cheap ebay toner gone are the nice skin tones…

      • Gotta love free (or practically free) stuff.

I looked at the picture without my glasses on, immediately clicked thinking it was a classic nes

    • It's the new Micro NES. That black rectangle is the USB port.

  • really a "Brother" in disguise, ow sells the grey dearer than the white so they must be racist…

proven "dinosaur" technology very hard to kill

  • Can anyone help with A3 colour laser multi function printer that doesn't cost a fortune?

I can't understand why going from A4 inkjey to A3 costs an additional $100, but going from A4 to A3 Laser costs an additional $500.

  • You can pick up a Colour Laser printer for that price these days

    • +2

      multifunction ?

  • pricematched at officeworks.. they were a bit moaney as its listed on TGG website as "clearance". but honoured it in the end w 5% price beat.

    • Why would you want to price match? Or did you manage to price match it at $113?

    • +1

Why price match when you can get it from TGG's eBay with CAU5 and still come out tops with CashRewards in tow?

  • +3

Wow I usually check every 5 minutes when I put something up to see if it's getting any votes, then it only gets around 10-20 votes if I'm lucky.
For this one I don't check for 12 hours and all of a sudden it is up to 68 votes! Glad I found a good deal for you folks out there!

  • We bought this printer after quite a bit of researching others. If you dont need colour, this is a great machine. Initially had issues connected it to the wifi and then getting a Mac to print to it but once you download the software and then connect the two with a cord its pretty straightforward.

    Can definitely recommend.

    • I am considering getting this to replace my current printer because the wifi printing is flaky - did you have to revert to using a USB cable from your MAC to the the printer ? Or did you plug the printer into your router with a USB cable?

      • +1

        Sorry, I wasnt very clear.
I downloaded the software and connected the cable to the printer which started the configuration process. Once it was completed I was able to disconnect it.
The printer has built in wifi so can be placed anywhere in the house and can receive print jobs from pc, mac or mobile phones. Only cable now is the power cable.

        • think i figured it out!

    • Can you tell does the toner require microchips to use generic?

The brother version of this one does not

  • Just bought one at my local Officeworks for $113.05 using pricematch - excellent value!!

I'll be using it to replace a Canon MX885 colour inkjet printer/scanner (I can't remember the last time I printed anything off in colour), and a Brother HL22700W. They're both on their last legs - needing cartridges/toner/drum.

The Fuji seems a bit flimsy compared with both these - but hopefully I'll get my money's worth! Pretty positive comments here!

For anyone who lives in Brissy, Officeworks at Windsor has just received a whole pallet of these printers - so plenty of stock!

  • Does this need to be left on all the time so the ink doesn't dry up or anything or can i turn it on only when i need to use it?

    • Uses toner rather than ink, so shouldn't suffer from any drying out when on or off. Not as much of an issue with inkjet these days either.

  • I bought this printer last July from Bing Lee for $120. I loooove this printer. As echoed by everyone here, so reliable, does the job well, connected and setup was easy, scans direct to chosen PC from menu screen (as long as PC is on of course). Don't hesitate. I only just replaced the 1st toner a couple of weeks ago and print quality is excellent. Double-sided printing can curl the paper but then again I buy the cheapest possible paper at $3 something per ream.

  • -2

    Printing is so 2016.

    • But hey, trolling is so 2017!

  • No stock in SA left it seems, so no C'n'C available.

  • +1

Picked up mine from TGG NarreWarren. Replacing a Brother DCP-1510 which stopped scanning apparently due to some mechanical fault. Thanks OP!

  • Damn, can't find any stock around Sydney suburbs!

    • +1

Still available on their eBay store for $119 if you don't mind paying for delivery.

      • Thanks for that. Still deciding if I want to pay for postage.. I'm a bit cheap :)

  • +1

Thanks op. Got it from Officeworks with 5% price beat which works out to be the same amount. Just easier as they have more stock & more locations.

  • +2

I've got 2 similar fuji xerox printers. A black and white and a colour one. They are awesome. Everything works. Wireless printing and scanning from every device I own! It's taken me 20+ years to finally be happy with a printer.
