I use letsencrypt on all my sites now
Its better because
1 - they are $0
2 - I will never forget to renew certs again because they auto renew.Shared hosting? With?
I have just asked my host Lunarpages. They don't support letsencrypt.
To get https, they want me to purchase a Comodo Standard Certificate for $109.00 pa.
Also they say for a cert to be installed on my account I require a dedicated IP for $4.95 a month.Any suggestions?
Switch to a better hosting provider. Dreamhost supports Let's Encrypt.
Normally 10.95USD per month, but if you use an affiliate link your first year will cost you 69.40USD (average <5.80USD). Which I suspect works out cheaper than your monthly Lunarpages fee + the static IP charge. After the first year it is 119.40USD per year. You must change your Hosting provider which offers the third party SSL Certificate installation support. Comodo PositiveSSL certificate will be best option as it will secure your website for 1 year, eliminates browser warning and allows to install SSL on multiple server.
Additionally, Comodo PositiveSSL Certificate do not required the Dedicated IP address, you can add it on shared IP as well but make sure your server muse be SNI enabled.
