    • Nice find. If only these laptops came with a DVD drive :(

      • ultrabase + dvd drive , then it comes with the drive . i own a previous model x60 and i have the dvd in the ultrabase which i use once every windows reload….

or use an external dvd for less than 100

    • cant see it any more? bug fixed??

      • bug fixed, processor upgrade now costs an extra $100

    • Awesome deal, especially with the upgraded CPU/downgraded price, hopefully they honour it.

    • Thanks for the link
      http://shopap.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/controller/e/auweb/Leno…

Via that link I can order a tablet from lenovo :D

  • tell me about it. I freaked when I saw that.
I added a larger HDD, bluetooth, webcam and 3g. Came to $1400, but not everyone needs all that. The standard $999 is great!

  • Damn I didn't see the lower processor option… I could have got the same specs with a slower processor for $1200. Oh well.

Time to sell my exist6ing standard X200 (non tablet)

  • What's so great about this tablet laptop? Can anyone please elaborate?

    • you can touch the screen and it makes it do stuff, ie like a touch screen phone

      • "you can touch the screen and it makes it do stuff" haha love it!

        • are you sure it has a touch screen? i saw no mention of that on the site or in 2 video reviews.

          • @Bigsta: there are several versions. If you bought the touchscreen version, then it'll have a touchscreen.

  • the cheaper SU cpu is higher volt, the CULV will last longer on the standard 4 cell it comes with, regardless this is a bargain, no question there. awsome find.

Im guessing theyre clearing to make way for the the i3 and i5 ULV range replacement.

  • Also bought one of the "Cheaper" options with the Faster CPU! Got the bigger battery, cam all for $852.85 Great Find!

    • how do you choose the "cheaper" cpu?

      • Looks like it has been removed now. When you selected the 9600 processor option it took off $220, it now adds $100!

  • "Integrated 3G Mobile Broadband card for carriers other than Vodafone" ???

why would they lock out Vodafone? (and presumably Three)
Any know which 3G frequency the card supports? (850/2100, 900/2100 or just 2100Mhz?)

but good deal….just wish they had a SSD option rather then sata

    • It's probably cheaper to swap the HDD with an SSD yourself anyway.

  • Now, this is what I call a BARGAIN.

  • Great bargain, lack of hdmi is a deal breaker for me doh

    • None of the thinkpad laptops has hdmi port.

  • will it play Starcraft II though?

    • where there is a will, there is a way.

desktop gpu on 1x slot for laptop~(actually it's been around for ages, i think maybe as early as 2005)
http://www.pcworld.com/article/128401/external_pciexpress_gr… (this is one of many example, but just happened to be top link on google)

and if i am not allow external link, search "pci 1x graphic card laptop" on google

This product is valid if you just want a gaming setup at home, but also want the portability of a business laptop on the go

      -neko

    • I would say no. Even if it did manage to run it at the lowest as soon as there was a big fire fight it would really be a big no. would drop down to about 5 fps on average It would be about 12. I couldn't play it.

  • I just cancelled my first order and placed another with the cheaper $220 processer. Included WWAN, Bluetooth, Webcam, 320gig 7200rpm drive, 2 year warranty all for a crazy low $1148 (or thereabouts)

    • that is insane. well spotted mate and awesome first post! Unfortunately I missed out on the cheaper processor upgrade.

Anyone know any lenovo x coupon codes? I want to spec this baby up before ordering.

      • The answer to my question is no, couldn't find a single coupon to stack this offer with lol. sleeping now and ordering in the morning.

  • This laptop is more suited for business related, not games related.
You can use Onenote with this laptop and use the pen and it will convert your hand writing to computer text (i think). you can also search hand written notes.

  • Great price.

  • -1

hmmm, i know it's suited to business use, but for the price, i'm thinking of getting it to use as a web-brower, then connect an external monitor for gaming … possibly …

    • trust me - not so good for gaming.

  • +4

must resist the temptation, money doesnt fall down from the sky…

  • +4

Looks like they have corrected the $220 saving on the faster CPU. It's extra $100 on top of $999 now.

    • yeah…bugger…i had it sitting there too long thinking about it, and by the time i wanted to add it to the cart it had updated already

      • same here.. :(

        • with the extra $300 cost now…there goes any original tax savings…!

    • Well - lets see if the Honour my order with the cheaper SL9600 CPU. I've got the "Order Confirmation", including "your order has been received and is processed"….I'm seeing Offer (me) and Acceptace (Lenovo)!

      • I believe Lenovo will honour the order, good luck!

        • I am in the same boat, and while Lenovo are usually pretty good, right on the last page it says they can cancel the order at anytime.

  • The tablet is a nice unit (this offer was going a few weeks ago and I am typing on one)however the X200s is the bargain for its weight and battery life, especially with MBC.

    • -1

the offer a few weeks ago was not for the tablet

      • it was a few months back

      • Yes it was because I bought one, 24/6 to be precise and has been on the website since then:

  • only if i didnt bought an asus after i missed out last time when this was on sale… DAMMMMITTTT

  • I really dont want to write a whole review as I am on a x200t right now. This is the most horrible computer I've ever used. Lots of HARDWARE problems and I'm known to treat things like they are all glass. Hardware has being a big issue with lenovo and on the x200t, the pen, lcd, hinge, HD, HD cover are all very vulnerable to breakage. Most require warranty, but going through there customer service isnt fun either. I wouldn't reccomend this tablet.

Also i own the previous edition, the x61t. Thats just even worse. I wont bother describing it. I got it from my institution at a discounted price and i HATED it with passion.

    • +2

But ive been reading reviews and it generally has good positive scores, most mentions build quality being excellent, can you elaborate further.

      lol name

      • +1

lol his name? double lol yours! lol lol :D

    • +2

Why did you buy the new one if you had issues with the previous version? I am on my 8th X series (family gets the old ones) at present, never had any breakages, but then again it lives in a protected carry bag when not on my lap. Lenovos are well know for being tough, totally the opposite to what you are saying and my experience.

      • institution…

    • What was the screen resolution on the x61t?

      • 1024x768. Pain!
        (there's a 1440x1050 option)

  • Newbie Q - Anyone use MoneyBackCo on these?

  • +2

I heard the reviews are all good too. Really can't be faulted anywhere. You could have purchased a lemon

  • Any coupons for lenovo x series atm?

I had the chaeper cpu option in cart already and then in checkout, it went up 320$… Oh well. If anyone knows how to bring down the price further it would help ease the pain lol

  • That's a really good deal.

I ordered one X200T this morning and found that if I upgrade the CPU, the price will fall $200?

i just want to know will Levono cancel my order? I don't think it's my fault.

  • Worth going for the bigger battery pack??

    • Yes, its much cheaper than buying later, I get 8 hours on my tablet with the wireless on.

  • Guys

    Which CPU is better??

Intel Core 2 Duo Processor P8600

    or

    Intel Core 2 Duo SU9600 processor (1.60GHz 800MHz 3MBL2)

    Thanks

    • Both are good

for a more powerfull laptop get Intel Core 2 Duo Processor P8600 2.13ghz

for a laptop that last longer ie uses battery more efficiently get the Intel Core 2 Duo SU9600 processor (1.60GHz 800MHz 3MBL2)

      • Thanks for the quick reply!

  • Damned, My wife firmly rejected my application of buying another laptop. Missed the best deal so far this year. :(

  • +1

Placed my order. Fantastic deal… saving of almost $3500!!!
Will have to please the wife tonight! ;)

  • Looks like the tablets have sold out!

  • Its probably worth noting its not only the x series on special, a desktop for $350 and the T series are good for games and they are around $1K as well.

  • no more x200 tablet ?

  • Wait to see if Lenovo will actually honour the deal or not.
    Would be quite interesting.

    • they rang me up this afternoon to confirm my (partial) card details, delivery address, and a few other things. Sounds good!

  • The tablets aren't there anymore! :(

    • You can still access it on that direct link someone pasted up the page! :)

  • the RRP is ridiculously overpriced ? lol From: AU$3,915.21. i hate it when they put up the highest price where no retailers would sell at that price just to make it looks good

  • Best Laptop deal i've ever seen on ozbargain. Congratulations to poster and everyone who purchased.

  • from cnet

RRP: AU$5,517.33 • Where to buy? $2,447 at 1 store

  • i cant make the prize below $999.00..
a bit of help will be appreciated..

    • +1

you cant make it below that mate, they have fixed the bug which brought the price down when you tried to upgrade the processor. the cheapest is now $999 - which is still a bloody brilliant deal.

  • Yeah I picked up a X200 tablet when they were still available - kitted it out (4Gb, 2.13Ghz CPU, 7200RPM 320Gb, BT, 3G radio +GPS, 8 cell battery, camera) for $1437 and saved $3350 off "RRP". Even if it were half price, I would have still saved $906!

Ok, so the CPU is a generation behind, and maybe the X201s have better touchscreens(?), but these are pretty massive savings! I'm pretty chuffed… too bad I missed out on the bug, I wonder if Lenovo would honour it?

  • +1

I guess at the end of the day they probably will honour it as they are trying to get rid of them. If they go ahead and cancel some of the early orders then they will have to go back and add the laptop to the clearance section. I really don't think they will be stuffed doing it.

I got mine with the $200 bug, so I went to a faster processor for a lower price :) Brilliant I say.. Bloody Brilliant.

Anyway $999 for any of the remaining laptop is still a damn good price. If you were thinking of a netbook, get the X200 instead. You will be glad you did for the extra $$

    • thanks again for your shared information.

  • I could be wrong but it looks like some are popping up on e-bay already! http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Lenovo-X200-X200T-Tablet-PC-MultiTouc…

  • Anyone know what is the main difference?

    ThinkPad Wireless BGN

    Or

Intel WiFi Link 5300 [add AU$26.70]

    • if I was you, I prefer to choose the cheap one. No differences for normal use.

      • I went with the Intel wifi card just for future driver updates. If I still have it in a few years, I'd expect Intel to have more updated drivers than a thinkpad wireless nic.

        • I have to say that Lenovo has an awesome track record of updating drivers. My T41p still gets updates.. :)

          • @mashimus: and for multiple operating systems for the one unit unlike other companies…

            • @Mikinoz: What you mean???

Also, anyone know about these card will be supported by Hackintosh?? Just out of curiosity!

PS: Thanks for everyone's replies so far. Really appreciated.

              • @Jacku: for example an x60 you can get xp, vista, and windows 7 drivers for the laptop if you want to upgrade operating system

another example if you buy this laptop with xp you can upgrade to windows 7 and probably the next operating system knowing they will cover it for hardware drivers.

  • OK - Just got a call from Lenovo saying they are calling all who ordered the X200 Tablet with the cheaper SL9600 processor to say they orders will be Cancelled and did you want to play an order for the $999 with the standardard processor as the SL9600 procesors are end of life and it was an error.

In a polite converstation with the rep, I pointed out the the Invitation to Treat (the web site) was followed by my Offer (the order) followed by two e-mails confirming it (the acceptance) so I did not at this stage wish to either cancel my order or place a new one. He understood and is seeking further instructions from Mgt on what they want to do or offer.

If you ordered a SL9600 version of the X200 you will be called soon (if not already).

    • Now I got the following E-Mail …

"Due to the overwhelming response to the X200 Tablet clearance offer we are unable to fulfill your order. Please allow 3 businesses day for credit authorisation reversal.

If you would like to place an order for another clearance model please call us on 1300 557 073 option 1 (Mon - Fri 9am -5pm AEST). "

      • I also got the email. In fact one more email saying it's snuffed.

"This email is to confirm that all or part of your order has been cancelled. If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Lenovo Support Center: 1300 557 073 OPT 2 or email us at: [email protected]"

Not any different to dell I guess.. my wife would be happy about this..

  • what's the screen resolution for ThinkPad X200s?

    • 1280x800
