Apart from adding to rice, can you educate the uneducated and advise what saffron is good to add to / cook with?

  • +1

Bought second time. Thanks op. I can say it definitely gives better colour than the Kashmir saffron i have but not better aroma.

    • +1

      Thanks for the feedback. Cheers.

Thanks OzB, I ordered me some SAFFRON!

Woolworths are selling 0.5G for $7.10

Bit far off with "0.1g for $14"

    https://www.woolworths.com.au/Shop/Search/Products?searchTer…

Therfore, your store is more expensive. Because I added 1 g to my cart and it was $15.98 with postage.

Im better off buying 1g for $14.20 from Woolworths - no waiting.

    Am i doing something wrong?

    • +1

Thanks for the comment. Postage is free in Australia on our website. Maybe you accidentally added 2 x 1g packs to your cart?

The 0.5g Woolies saffron is Grade-2 saffron with colour code of 150. Our saffron is Grade-1 (highest grade) with colour code of 250+. Hope this helps.

      • +1

        Thanks for the reply.

You are right - I did add two.

        So its $7.99 for 1gram.

Woolies is $7.10 or 0.5 Grams.

So essentially, its 87% more expensive from woolworths.

Thats a deal I can get behind.

        Will buy a batch. Cheers

        • Awesome! Glad I could help.

  • +1

Nothing to add, I ordered some on the last deal, the saffron is great and the delivery was quick.

    A++ will buy again.

    • Wonderful! You're a champ. Thanks

The saffron I received two months ago is excellent quality. Made it into a sauce with fresh mud crab.

    Mm. Noms.

    • Perfect! Thank you for the feedback :)

  • +2

Just two years ago you sold 10g for $43 and now its $65 !!!
I very much like the saffron I bought from you, really good stuff. But the price has gone up by more than 20 bucks in two years. I read your blog on prices changing everyday. But I don't think I am happy to pay 65 bucks for 10g.

    • Thanks for the comment and I completely agree with you. We used to buy raw saffron for IRR 31,000,000 per kilo 2 years ago and this year (late 2016 harvest) we had to pay IRR 67,000,000 per kilo!!

Why so much increase in raw saffron price??! we asked ourselves. It is mainly due to:
      - inflation
      - worker wages
      - The sanctions were temporarily lifted from Iran and everyone thought it is going to be free trade with western countries forever so they increased their price
      - later, the sanctions were put back so everyone thought there's going to be a tough road ahead to live so they increased their price.
      - Iran had some harsh weather changes last year so not all the flowers were as good to make the cut for Grade-1 Sargol standard. Hence price increase.
I can go on for a day but yea lab testing price change, packaging price change, custom charges changed due to sanctions etc etc etc

      • -1

Right. And is there going to be a discount for repeat customers ?

        • It wouldn't be fair to everyone if I give you a discount now. However, please email me your request and the saffron pack you're after. I will do my best to be fair and give your desired discount. We want to keep everyone happy :)

        • Don't think that's fair. There will always be price increases it all depends on the COGS and margin. We can't expect the OP to be working for a pittance especially since it sounds like hard work to get the saffron over here.

If the price is too high then maybe buy somewhere cheaper?

        • @jlogic:

If the price is too high then maybe buy somewhere cheaper?

@jlogic, logically, I wonder if that would have dawned on me.

        • @AussieB: Not sure, the tone in your posts suggests otherwise.

If you were looking for a cheaper place, your post would of linked to it.

    • +1

I can see your point, but to be frank. The inflation rate is real though, plus you can't get the same price/grade from supermarket …

      10g … $54.61 - 5% code CAU5 = $51.87 + Postage $4.07 = $55.94

  • +1

    Thank you OP, ordered 2g.

    • +1

Much appreciated. Hope you enjoy your saffron :)

  • Is this organic?

    • Thanks for the comment. What we sell is organic saffron. There's no chemicals involved with harvesting and packaging our product. However, we don't have an internationally recognised certificate. There's no proper lab in Iran to test against organic and generate a certificate. Therefore, I should say our saffron is not organically certified.

how many of these positive votes are related to the store? the price has gone up but the votes greatly escalated since previous posts.
Check the history of the saffron deals.

    • Aren't prices allowed to go up? It's still a bargain if there is promotional price when compared to their normal selling price which may need to increase due to market forces or increasing the margin.

This is OzBargain and not OzClearance or OzRRP.

Still good that we have members that police Reps and Store owners though.

      • +1

This is the normal price though!! Sure its cheaper than Coles but there are many other eBay sellers that are similar prices.

  • What would I expect to find if I used saffron in a dish, flavour-wise? Is it similar to tumeric? I guess not, being two completely different parts of different plants!

    • Thanks for the comment. Saffron does not have a strong Flavour such as tumeric. It will give colour and some flavour as well as aroma. The health benefits are stronger than the flavour. However, you'll feel the flavour a little when you use saffron frequently.

  • What is a couple of members damage about this site? It is cheap, sure they raised the price but even if they doubled the price it is still cheaper than Coles & Woolworths right? No one complains when the price of eneloops goes up, you just get told that you should have stocked up earlier!

  • Thanks rep, I received my order today. Might be a silly question but how are you supposed to open the 2g containers?

    • +1

      We're glad!
      It's a very delicate job! :D
I'd open it on a white A4 paper very slowly. Then if there were any of the saffron left on the paper you can put them back in.

OP why have fake ending times

    • -3

      No fake

      • +2

Okay so there is one day left of what?? What were you referring to? Was it not you that changes the expiry date to keep misleading people even though this is the normal price?

          @Saffron-Store:

Mate, we are not misleading anyone.

Mate, your original title started "New Product Sale!" which you never amended; Moderator hamza23 did. New packaging is not new product.

Today was for our new package introduction and the Heart shaped is discounted.

Discounted from what? A price you have never charged?

OzBargain requires to put Start date and an end date.

Those are not required to be fake. You altered the Expiry from 04 April to 05 April. Nothing has expired.

much cheaper than any other supermarket or website
You cannot find a better deal for premium Persian Saffron!

Those statements are untrue. Member scozbargain and I found several cheaper examples.

@pharcyde: Price increase, fake original title, fake discount, fake expiry, fake price promise (without price matching), fake description of transparent plastic as tin, fake accusation of spam. It's not as if I made it all up, is it?

    Hi All.

Just received 5g of saffron from this store (took 6 days inc weekends). Exactly 5g (checked), quality is better then Woolies one, expiry date 12/2019. Compare it side by side smell is stronger and color a bit darker, after a few minutes in the water woolies one became lighter from the store remains the same.

    https://ibb.co/ho5WFk

From Woolies on the right side, so as u can see the quality from the store is better.
    https://ibb.co/fZ15ak

I'm not associated with the store. For this price and quality, it's a very good deal. So dunno why r u guys complaining about the price 40 cents plus 40 cents minus, but compare to Wollies one it does not really matter.

    Thank you seller.

    • Thank you very very much. Great feedback. Better comparison that we could ever do!

  • Hi Rep

Ordered on 3 april havent received delivery yet. What are normal delivery times for your store

    • Thanks for the comment. We have shipped your saffron on 4th April. It normally takes 3-5 business days for Aus Post to deliver the goods. If you didn't receive it by Wednesday, please check with your local post office and let us know.

      • Ok. Cheers
