  • I have a flybuys offer this week to collect 4000 points if I spend $90. I wonder if I could reach it by combining this deal…

    • +1

no, this is for next week

      • Oh I missed that part!

        • +4

Even if it's in the same week, these flybuys promotions on "spending $x get y points" typically exclude purchase of gifts cards, mobile recharges, and cigarettes.

        • @FOX: mobile recharges are included :)

    • +3

Usually bonus points offers exclude gift cards/itunes unfortunately, unless your offer is different.

    • +1

What clse945111 says, but it would be a good exercise to try it and see if it counts towards your spend anyway.

      • +6

        I tried before, no luck.

      • +5

        The asnswer is NO.

  • +2

So a $30 Hoyts card for $20 effectively.
Which means, @11.50/ticket, its 2.6 tickets for $30

So, $20 gets you 2.6 tickets, whereas if you walk up to the ticket counter, $20 gets you nothing :( Normal price is $21.50

    • How can you get 11.5/ticket using the gift card?

      • According to the OP, you can get tickets for this price via Optus perks, and pay for them using a Hoyts gift card.

Treat yourself. Take your family or friends. Enjoy discounted movies at the cinema from $11.50 for adults, $9.00 for kids and $26.00 for HOYTS LUX. HOYTS sessions can be purchased directly through Book a Session. Vouchers are available for independent cinemas from $11.00 for adults and $8.50 for kids. Adult and kids tickets can be used anytime, except after 5pm on Saturdays.

Surcharges may apply for upgrades such as 3D and Xtreme Screen. Recliner seats have been installed in selected HOYTS cinemas, an additional $3.50 will be charged for Perks tickets to these recliner cinemas.

If you use the Hoyts Gift card to pay for Optus Perks to buy two $11.50 movie vouchers, that means you are left with $7 on the gift card…you might as well pay $3.50 each to get recliners too? Or buy a third voucher? Or pay the surcharge for 3D and Xtreme Screen? From memory its a few bucks? Apparently there is a $3 booking fee for Lux screenings also…

        https://www.optusperks.com.au/productterms

1.10 HOYTS may apply a booking fee to HOYTS LUX Movie Tickets, which will be disclosed to you at the time of booking. There is a $3 booking fee for HOYTS LUX screenings.

just buy the overpriced popcorn, your kids will love it.

        • Can we purchase Optus starter pack as prepaid and use that to join Optus perks?

        • @Lastronin: Yep. $2 I think?

        • @Lastronin: Yes, once you activated the card and registered (not automatic). I had the perks with the $10 starter pack last time.

        • Are recliner cinemas extra on a normal priced ticket?

        • +1

@Lastronin: No, it wont activate unless you put some credit on it !
          https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2619340

    • The tix for $13 on Tuesday for Optus perks.
Think it was extra because of the recliner seats

    • +1

My local hoyts has tickets for $10 so this means I can bring a third wheel for free on date night.

  • +2

I'll personally be getting the KIDS card. Effectively $20 for $30 value at JB HiFi, Toyrus, and Dymocks.

    • If you buy enough of these you can purchase a Bose QC35 for 33% off.

      • +1

        How? It's once per household.

        • We have 4 flybuys card between the two of us. Last time they had this promo we bought the maximum. This time around we'll be buying the same amount as well. This promo happens quite regularly throughout the year.

        • @nightelves: Oh ok. So you would need 10 to 15 though…

        • @nightelves:

So it is per flybuys card, not per hoisehold, isn't it? I got 4 flybuys cards in my house, can I use all of 4 cards and still get the bonus points for each in the same address? Thanks.

        • @divious:

Yes you can. I have tried it.

  • -1

You should have edited out the watermark of another site…lol ozbargain is behind in viewing catalogue and ppl here complained why they can't find any hot gift cards. It is because other site have much more time ahead to prepare ;)

    • +1

don't see a problem with leaving the watermark in, at least the source is getting some credit

  • Can I use the "Ultimate Kids" GC at Rebel to buy Adult Shoes?

    • +1

      Yes.

    • +3

Man, that would be pretty funny if they restricted the gc so you could only buy kid items haha

  • They have the same promo a week or two ago but none of the Coles near me are selling Hoyts gift cards.

  • Hmmm… Ok, so I'm going to get ultimate kids gift card, use it at CottonOn. There is 30% off full priced kids and Baby items till 18Apr, which is a pretty decent discount for cottonon. I guess you can buy adult clothes too using this voucher. Free shipping over $55

    • +1

12% cashback via cashrewards at Cottonon and giftcard is not restricted to buying baby or kids stuff.

      • So you can use this at Cotton On and not just Cotton On kids?

  • With the new Coles UI,can eGiftcards be used to purchase these giftcards?

    • -1

Confirming yes. I just went through self-checkout with a $30 Ultimate Kids gift card and paid with Coles eGift card. Actually did it twice with two different Flybuys cards. Here is a breakdown of how the checkout operators fit into the process:

      1. scan Ultimate Kids gift card
      2. self-checkout terminal said 'wait for assistance with expiry date'
      3. checkout assistant had to come over and swipe their lanyard pass then input the gift card expiry on screen
      4. scan my flybuys card
      5. select 'pay amount due with card'
      6. scan Coles eGift card barcode and input pin in eftpos terminal.

Pain free and no guilt from the checkout assistants either

      • +1

Dont post on a public forum. Like qantas if things are in the open they will shut it down

        • -1

Do you know of a private bargains forum? I'd be happy to join and post my findings in there. Otherwise how else would we share information?

        • @tomclancy:Probably? I dont know. This is basic knowledge with people in the know about the use of it and using common sense to do it. Anyways… I digress.

      • Thanks for sharing. Promo says "Bonus Points can only be collected once per flybuys household". When you did it twice with two different flybuys cards, are the two cards registered to different name and address ? Trying to figure out what constitutes "per flybuys household".

        • +2

Both flybuys accounts have the same home address and both were credited the points :)

        • +1

@tomclancy: Flybuys credits 2000 points as default. You can buy a GC with an unregistered card number picked instore. You will see the points when you register it even after many weeks(at least 2 days later).

Address does not matter at all.In the case of my exp,an unregistered card has no address obviously.

        • @tomclancy: Great!

        • +3

I think "flybuys household" refers to multiple flybuys cards (up to 4) linked to the same account.

        • +1

@jackofspade: Won't it be clearer if Coles just says "Bonus Points can only be collected once per flybuys ACCOUNT"?

        • +1

@F1ngolf: and make it easier for people to game the system.

      • Where did you buy eCold gift card with a discount? Thanks.

        • Plenty of places, at least one of your memberships will have access if you dig a little. I can buy from AGL rewards, MLC rewards, Bupa, union shopper etc. Look at all your memberships and you may find one sells them

        • @tomclancy: I'm with Bupa for health insurance. Did not see any discount offer for Coles gift card under membership benefits. Did I miss something here ?

        • -1

@F1ngolf: Ah sorry, they must have offered it previously and not anymore - like EB. I normally get mine through AGL. If you are a member of Union Shopper you can get the discounted Coles eGift cards (when you register just put any union name in the box and it will accept your registration)

        • @tomclancy: No worries, mate. Thanks.

  • How do you know what is on special next week? I mean, if you know, I wish to peek the whole specials list:)

    • +1

There are always insiders around.Woolies will have 10% off Jetstar Giftcards promotion from the coming Wednesday.

      • +2

Yep. And from 19th April $50 Netflix Cards with 2000 woolies points. 20% off.

  • How long do the Ultimate Kids cards take to activate? ie. could I buy it in Coles, and walk next door and spend it in JB? Or is it overnight?

    • 24hrs I think, so next day.

      • Cool, thanks.

    • Instantly, I used immediately after purchasing.

      • OK, will give it a try today and see. I'll report back so we know for sure.

    • +1

Immediate for use.I bought them yesterday and used all in an hour.

      • +1

Can also confirm it worked straight after. It even says it's "activated immediately upon purchase" on the rear of the cardboard thing that comes with the plastic card attached.

  • Successfully bought a Hoyts gift card using a Coles Myer group gift card to pay at self check out.

    • Tried to do it at a manned check out but the manager said no. I should have tried the self check out

  • Thanks. Just saw that I got the bonus points on my account.
