Holy shit never realised there is such thing as frozen onion rings. Will give this a try.

    • They're not bad. Got some on a not-so-great saving from Woolies last week. Added them to my tray of chips as an extra side. Thumbs up.

I love onion rings - these are pretty crappy. Might be ok if you've never had the real thing, but these are pressed onion sweepings coated in sawdust

    • Yeah you are right but, unless you make your own, they are the only ones you can get from a supermarket . My wife loves them so that's good enough for me.

      • very limited options for the real thing
fortunately there are a few restaurants around me that do them
damn I really want some now

      • I've developed a taste for them ….. have deep fryer so they go well with the steak and chips ….. don't but them when full price but they taste yummy when on special.

    • Processed onions and made into rings and crumbed …..
that's the same as used in most fast food chains ……..it's the only way they can get so many to be the same size.

Very Yummy, first tried them last year when on special.

The only other options is make them yourself, cut onions, cost in batter, crumb, deep fry , and what to do with the small rings ………………..

        Don't cry about it! :)

    • Nothing beats Hungry Jack's angry onions. HJ's regular onions are nowhere close.

Eat them with some baked beans make tear gas.

  • Does this taste like the hungry jacks ones? I've only ever tried their onion rings and they're pretty good

    • they're pretty similar - helps if you have a deep fryer

      • Good to know thanks!

  • Oh no! They're BACK! I overdosed last time :/

  • Funyuns are tastier

    • assuming people know about Funyuns (I do)

i usually make thinly sliced onion rings at home, and they come out pretty good. i haven't made in a while though.

    1. thinly slice onions with mandoline
    2. leave it in buttermilk overnight
    3. season flour with salt and pepper, and cayenne
    4. coat onion rings with flour, and fry them immediately at 180c. if you don't fry them immediately, you'll have soggy instead of crunchy onion rings. note: it usually takes 2 min or so. take them out just before they look almost ready because they will continue to cook.

Funny how there is a "limit" of quantity when you just go through self serve….
