Jetstar Japan Awaits Sale - eg. $360 Return Gold Coast - Tokyo (Narita)

1010

Another sale from Jetstar to Japan.

I just booked a return flight from the Gold Coast to Toyko direct for $360 return in late November - early December. Looks like they are using the roomier 787 planes so should be relatively comfortable for cattle class (compared to Air Asia anyways).

One way fares for reference so you can play around with the return flight to see the cheapest fare:
OOL-NRT 06 Jun 2017 - 26 Jul 2017
OOL-NRT 05 Oct 2017 - 07 Dec 2017
OOL-NRT 15 Jan 2018 - 31 Jan 2018

Example of a ~$360 return flight OOL-NRT:
10:30AM 26 November 2017 - $199
08:25PM 10 December 2017 - $161.68

There may be sales departing from other cities.

Sale ends 11:59PM Monday 10 April 2017.

  • Cheapest I could find (from GC > Narita) was around $500 (regardless of time period).

      • Ah, obviously didn't look hard enough - nice find. Meant to ask what the exact period was that OP booked but forgot to add :)

  • Not quite as great as the $273 flight deal back in Feb but still a great price.

    • For same period?

      • I think so, my tickets are for November. Maybe not the January period (which would be nice and cold-great to get out of the heat)..

        • @nultma you won't get january or feb under $900 return

          @laurence:

You can. I did, albeit in a cheating way. Found Air Vietnam flughts for KL-TYO $200 return and found some cheap scoot flight MEL-SG for like $3/400ish. Proceeded to bus it from SG to KL for $10. Ozbargain tings.

          and then spent $5,000 in japan… :)

        • @friedrais:

oh nice, yeah i go skiing and snowboarding so that probably wouldn't work with the luggage. Cool find though

        • @laurence:

I bought my kit from Japan so wasn't a problem. Having said that Air Viet charged $200 odd to carry ski luggage, biggest rip off. So I just left my kit at my mate's place. Will pick it up when I travel there by Air Asia when I go next season.

          @dirkgonnadirk:

Yeah might have been more than 5k lol, we copped macbooks, hella bape and supreme from shibuya. Of course all the des garcon and yohji pick ups. Just can't find any any of the stuff in Australia.

    no perth…

You've got cheap Bali flights, stop complaining! :P

      • +4

Bali is no where near what Japan is ;p

  • I flew on the 787 from the gold coast to japan last year. I didn't think it was over and above the a330 or what other operators use for mid haul flights.
the real pain is the terminal that Jetstar uses in Tokyo. it probably adds half an our each way to your journey.

I'm not a fan of the 787….. been on it many times with multiple airline, and the same problem arises, those bloody LCD window shades. They don't block out bright sunshine, and they radiate a huge amount of heat when the sun hits them.

      • Can you control your window shade or is it automatically done? I didn't sit near the window last time I flew in a dreamliner and was wondering.

        • +2

You can control it at cruising altitude.

    • +1

I dunno, the bags seem to come out quick and the walk to T2 is only about 5-7mins.

  • +3

Annoying that they no longer have the direct melb to tokyo route…. sigh
Only had it for 1-2 years then Qantas realised that it was a lucrative route so they took it and removed it from Jetstar…

    • +1

Yep and now from MEL $800 is a 'good' price :(

  • +17

For those taking carry-on only luggage, Jetstar OOL are extremely strict when it comes to weight limits. I had to strap half my possessions to my body like a drug runner to avoid being over the limit.

    • They gotta be strict when probably half of OOL pax are actual drug runners

  • Damn I wanna go japan again. Would it still be cheap to catch a flight from melb to gold coast then use jetstar to Tokyo? How much are return flights melb-gold Coast usually be for the same promotional period?

  • +19

If you've never been to Japan, go.

If you have been to Japan, go again.

    And again.

    • +1

      Agreed..and again!

      • Kanpai!

If this was from syd id go just because.
Once a yr for 4 straight.

    • Spent a month in Japan a couple of years ago. Would go back in a heartbeat. Beautiful country.

    • I went last year and am going this year. With this sale I might go twice in the same year!

  • +5

I always love reading how everyone loves Japan as much as me. Awesome place and people. If you haven't been….go. go NOW.

  • +4

The 787 is not roomier at 9 abreast. It was originally designed be be 8 abreast like the ANA setup

  • Is it possible to book these with Qantas points?

    • +1

yes but it is not worth it.

  • all gone :(

  • +1

At this price if you want to comfort just by the extra seat as comfort if you are a couple, so 3 seats or a row for a couple.

  • OOL-NRT 15 Jan 2018 - 31 Jan 2018

Departure flight is cheap at $300 bucks

Returning flight is $500/600 a pop.

  • what is a decent price for a return flight from melbourne to tokyo these days (including checked luggage)?
