Sigh The eternal wait for the black stainless continues…

    Great price.

    • agreed. with the $5 credit this is a bargain.

      Thanks OP, ordered

      • +3

So not a bargain without $5 credit?

        • Haha just noticed that. Add the $5 on top of the equation and you have more of a bargain.

  • nuts. bought one. thanks!

  • How much would be the w2? And battery life would be better than w1?

    • +2

IIRC, several reviewers say the W2 is quite disappointing.

      • Probably true. More features they put in, less battery would be. Or device will be thick.

      • Yep. The CEO of Huawei said he thinks smartwatches are pointless. Personally I think the board should've fired him on the spot, but on he goes.

  • +1

I really like the watch but battery doesn't last longer than 19 hours according to reviews which means it gotta be charged every night…

    • I just read review about baterry last 2 days. The first few weeks usually people play alot with the watch therefore battery won't last a day but after months will be different.

      • +1

I have one and charge it every second day (with always on screen).

    • I've had the W1 for almost 2 years now and the battery lasts about 2 days for me.
I have bluetooth and wifi enabled on the watch, all the alerts from my phone get sent to the watch, and I have developed the habit of using voice to search for things via the watch.

    • Most full function smartwatches do. Who cares? You have to be recharged every night too. Just charge it while you sleep.

      • It was a response to someone mentioning reviews that say the watch only gets 19 hours per charge.

Thanks Op, bought.. Now to get a Screen Protector and a Stainless Steel Band

    • Isn't the screen covered with sapphire? I thought it was more scratch-resistant than good ol' Gorilla Glass.

      • +1

Knowing my history with watches vs brick walls, those pesky kids playing dress ups or wanting to see the Darth Vader or Mickey Mouse Watch I need all the protection I can get. :) Bought 2 glass protectors on eBay for less than $5 so will see how it looks.

      • Unfortunately, not all sapphire crystal glass is the same.
For example, Tissot watches use the traditional sort, which resist something akin to a MOHs hardness 9(out of 10). Whereas Apple watches also use what they call sapphire crystal, however it only resists a 5-6(out of 10)

So without having someone volunteer their model of this watch for testing, there's no way to be guaranteed this watch will be as scratch resistant as people are likely to expect of sapphire crystal.

So it's better to be safe than sorry. And for $5 that's a pretty cheap peace of mind.

Apple tries to short change, corral users and increase profit where it can… their Sapphire IS NOT real, it's like gold plating, and they have a patent for it.

I personally never understood screen protectors… it's like 1/2 assed insurance for the clumsy, which degrades your experience for the life of the product.

My current 2 watches (Garmin Fenix 3, Oris) have sapphire screens and I can scrape them against a brick wall, bench press… with just the metal being scratched but the screen has no ill-effect.

        • @raybies:
          Oh no, I'm well aware
But if Apple does it, who else is doing something similar?
I don't trust anyone to do what they say they do
Where there's a profit to be made, companies can't be trusted.

And I've never found a screen protector to degrade my using experience

That said, I'm still waiting on my watch screen protectors to arrive. So I'm basing that statement off of my phone

  • Anyone know how to avoid the insane Amazon tax? it comes to 349! Which is proposterous

    • What amazon tax?

    • Was $274 for me with expedited shipping

      • sorry, I saw it wrong, I clicked the wrong one. But I must've assumed that stupid tax thing whenever I look on Amazon, that's why I never buy from amazon

        • Total before tax: $273.93
Estimated tax to be collected: $0.00
          Total: $273.93

I'm not sure what stupid tax thing you're referring to?

Been waiting for a price drop to get one, my wife had one from the last prime day sale at 170usd.

I was literally asleep. These Americans don't think much of my sleep, clearly.

      No watch for me.

      • +1

Me too. Been waiting so long. Aughhh.

Apple watch is dropping ever so slowly, I think my wrist will be wrinkled by the time I can afford one. LOL

  • +1

    Yeah back to $265 US.

Having owned this and Apple Watch, I'd give this a 9 for look, a 3 for functionality if you use with an iPhone. Apple Watch 3 for look, 8 for function.

Hope android ware 2 comes out soon on this then iPhone users can install apps.

    • Thanks for the useful info.
As an iPhone user I think I will just hold off for a little while more.

  • +1

Annnd back at cheap price! At least, I just ordered one at 164.88. Came to 234 delivered.

My wife has one, the slightly recessed screen avoids scratches. I still put a clear plastic protector on though. It lasts about a day and a half. More if you turn off the useful functions.

    • Just had a look again and it's back to US$265! Boo!

    • Stop getting my hopes up!

  • says it wont ship to oz anyway around this?

    • +1

Under the price, there's a line:

Note: Available at a lower price from other sellers, potentially without free Prime shipping.

You need to click the "other sellers" link and find a supplier that'll ship to AU.

However, the reason the price has gone back up is because the supplier that was shipping to Australia was the one that had the cheapest stock, and they've run out of stock (so Amazon is redirecting you to another vendor with the same product, albeit not at the same price).

  • Wil this get android wear 2 and android pay?

  • Damn procrastinated too long and missed out. If anyone has seconds thoughts and wants to on sell it, let me know :)

  • It's 199usd now

    • It dropped to $169 for a few hours at 2am ish

      • I see.. I won't buy until I know it gets wear 2.0 and I can use Android pay in Australia

        • From what I've read, this watch will be getting wear 2.0 before the end of May, but it won't be getting Android Pay. There was some rumor that the watch had some kind of dormant NFC chip that would "awaken" with 2.0 but turns out that isn't the case.

        • @CaptainStingray: i see. i was more worried about this "non australian" stock will not get android pay - who knows maybe they locked each device depending to the regions? im not sure.
anyway, no point to get one without android pay for me.

      • Oooh… :( Could you message me when that next happens? I've set an alert on camel camel but it never went off. I presume there is a delay on camel camel?

        • Yeh there is usually a hour or so delay for camel site to update Amazon prices

  • This is still one of the better watches out there at the moment and it was announced in March of 2015!
