I did that 3 years ago at KMart and filled my trolley with 25c boxed Easter Eggs dated Best Before 13 months later.

  • My Kmart had nothing at all. all gone at 8am

easter bunny beat you to it?

    • +1

8am? What time did they open?

      • They opened at 8am, had to pick up other stuff. Egg section all gone

When I used to work at Kmart it was not uncommon to sell out of all Easter eggs on Easter Saturday.

  • It's opened on Easter Sunday?

    • Yes!

  • Plenty at K Mart Belmont (WA)… got a heap for $10

a true ozbargainer will check use by date…. and get one tht expires this time next year

Good thinking! Unfortunately, I would imagine most choc manufacturers have figured this out, and put an expiry date before that. Although in reality, they are probably still good to eat. Just so you cannot stock up for next easter, at discounted prices.

You cheap chocolate it likely to get a white-ish tinge to it, which happens to old chocolate.
Still edible, but anyone you give them to will know you're a tight wad…

    • +2

I bet storing them in your closet for a year makes the chocolate taste terrible. Not to mention getting the mad munchies and eating them all anyway before next Easter.

    • Up here they kind of deflate in their wrapping. Not worth keeping in the fridge for 12 months.

  • +5

Even at half the original price they are expensive

  • Had some Cadbury's eggs today and it seems they have found a new cheaper recipe as they tasted crap, I'm very surprised that the typical toothless Kmart customer can knaw into an egg.

Cadbury has done their dash, even Woolworths and Coles brand chocolate is far better now.

Apparently Aldi's 99c bunny was the way to go this Easter, but they sold out by Sunday. :(

        • +1

Aldi chocolate is good also, never even thought about getting bunnies from there, next year I will :)

    • Pauline blames the Halāl additives.

  • Burwood only had Tulips and home brand when I called at 7pm. Turns out the sale started Sat/Sun midnight, not tonight as I thought.

  • Like all these types of sales you had to go in the day before and hide a little stockpile if you want the best pieces.

Come to my house you can have as much as you want for free

  • Was in Kmart Warwick (WA) store about 30 minutes ago, and they've just marked down all their Easter stock another 50% off the ticketed price - e.g. Cadbury Dairy Milk bunny 150g now $1, Dairy Milk carton of small hollow eggs 250g $1.75, Cadbury solid eggs 125g bag (Oreo, Dairy Milk, Marvellous Creations, Caramello) now $1, Cadbury 450g Dairy Milk and Roses giant eggs now $4.75.

They still had quite a bit of Red Tulip and home brand stock as well.

    • Are you saying they're now 75% off? Or still just 50% off?

      • Yes, now 75% off, sorry should made that clearer in my post.

  • Kmart Broadway (NSW) was empty. No Easter confectionary. Bought some at 75% off at Target though
