    Thanks purchased $999.99 worth

  • Thanks, bought 3 pieces

5 weeks shipping on previous deal and still waiting.

    • +6

So long I'd forgotten this 'un completely. Like you, still waiting. Gearbest but PostageWorst…still they do say up to 6 weeks.

      • +1

For these types of deals though, I wouldn't really expect anything other than the cheapest shipping method available. If it arrived sooner than 6 weeks I'd consider that a bonus.

      • …………..and two days later they float into the mail box. Well that's inside the 6 weeks so I got wot was said & when was promised.

FWIW while I'm typing - very simple, flat piece of mother board like material about the length of (female?) thumb top to knuckle and 60% as wide (I have smallish hands) metallic USB connector stripes imprinted into one end and 3 tiny rectangular bumps towards the other end which are the LED's. Would not block access to other USB sockets as so tiny. At the LED end a tiny hole is drilled through for a lanyard & (probably big enough & edge-close enough) to suit a standard wire key ring attacher. Durability to stand bouncing around while attached to a key ring unknown. Just a mention, I'd say susceptible to breaking off in socket if given a solid whack - not designed for robust situations at all of course but just to consider re install where kids are involved.

Surprisingly bright, painful to look at directly. Read by it, definitely, if you can avoid the glare/dazzle effect. Throw, unfocused of course but would I'd say would dimly light a room (untested). Night light, definitely, with the caveat about dazzle effect. Heat, had it plugged in to a USB hub socket 25 odd mins- only shade above tepid to the touch.

Worth the minimal cost, positively. The only caveats would be the unknown durability and how long they perform/retain lumens over time. Oh yeah, heat, if left on overnight say, is an unknown.

The Nitecore rechargeable keychain torches (& I really like them for the cost & quality) outclass it by miles as an emergency-small form factor light source but when you compare costs that is neither a surprise nor a negative.

Delivered in a padded envelop which is sufficient protection IMHO.

        • Durability while attached to keyring: I've had mine for about 2 weeks now, and have one attached to a keyring. Daily carry, and no damage so far.

Room lighting: Easily lights a 3m x 3m room with one light. Would recommend more lights to be active to properly light the room.

They do get warm after some use-time.

    • +3

Mine arrived on the 21st. Had forgotten about them also.

      • +1

        Me too.
But it was a good feeling in a way, getting something when you are expecting none :)

And it is too bright. Very nice

        • Ditto. Really surprised by the brightness of these. Turned an old near-dead powerbank into a super-bright torch. Backlit the tv. Still thinking of other uses.

        • I heard they get really hot, does it become a problem when trying to remove them? (yet to receive mine)

        • @Baebs: I ran one overnight for 24 hours straight - didnt get hot. was warm but not hot.

        • @rxjb: Thanks :) Received them yesterday, ripper bargain for 10 cents + they work well.

      • Same here. Was the best feeling opening an unexpected package and seeing these. Although I could have sworn I paid a lot less last time

      • +1

I was this deal and thought hang on I ordered them a while back and haven't got them, I then went looking to make sure but then thought no that right I remember thinking, no I won't buy them as ill have no use for them and they will just sit there………..and then today I got a package in the mail

    • +2

got mine a few days ago and still dont know what to use them for.

    • +29

Mine washed ashore yesterday. Delivery time seems to depend on seasonal Ocean Currents.

      • With the heavy rain in Melbourne mine made it to the house today. I guess that living away from the beach the current had to flow up the storm water system !

Still, so much better than the bullshit shipping costs from the US.

    • i got mine from the last 9c deal

    • Got mine sometime last week, and yeah, I'd forgotten I'd bought them too.

    • I got mine today.

  • +15

Mine arrived yesterday from the last deal, and I feel 9c is what they're worth - I have absolutely no idea how these are going to be useful.

    • +1

I found uses for mine :D
      1. keep two of mine with my 20,000 mAh Xiaomi Power Bank, a quick dirty LED torch that lasts for ages
      2. one in the car to plug into the USB port on my headunit if I need a bit of extra light
      3. one plugged into my laptop cooling dock, & use it to backlight up the wall at night (easier on the eyes).
      4. last one is on my keychain.

    • I actually bought some off eBay (paid more for a reseller with stock in Australia) recently to use as cheap room lamps. USB chargers are fairly ubiquitous in bedrooms/studies nowdays. My other planned use would be seeing how it goes with a portable charger and using is as a torch or camping lantern.

  • +1

there is one use for it. for a computer case where there is no power on lights or they are broken. this would show the PC on?

    • Depends some computers still give power to USB when off. For things like wake on keypress or click of the mouse etc. Others have powersharing turned on in bios/uefi and other mainboards are just junk and supply power to USB no matter what you do.

So long/short is that it might work. :)

    • -1

Checked the motherboard connections. Kind of unlikely for case LEDs to break anyway.

  • +3

Great tips re flex light and TV night light! Thank you.

  • Are these reversible? i.e. Can be flipped in the USB port?

    • +13

Yup, but when you reverse it you open a dark portal. Careful!

    • +3

No, there are only contacts on one side.

  • +6

Good to bundle with your power bank for an emergency light.

  • +9

A Whopping 20 times more expensive then last time! Looks like it's better to invest in these rather than the property market…

  • Thanks, three weeks to Sydney for me too. Not as good as the last deal, but still good value at this price if you know what you're going to use them for.

  • mine came yesterday from the last deal, nice Kris Kringle presents this year lolz.

    • Yep mine also came yesterday.

      • Mine also came in yesterday. Now, what to do with them? They're very bright.

        • i like torturing myself staring into them until i get a blindspot, then when it clears rinse and repeat.. im a sadist lolz.

        • In a blackout plug 4 of them into a hub and plug that into a power bank.

  • -3

These might damage your computer if in for too long.

    • How so?

    • how? i left them in my usb port today and coming back home tomorrow night.
i cant understand how - these are led light, if anything plugging a usb cable to charge my phone or powerbank will draw more energy

      • +1

It wont damage anything,I had to plug a hub in as well as one of these to even get it to register a current, by itself it did no show any current use!
With the hub it reaches 20mA without the hub 0mA, a normal phone charging would see around 500ma!
I was using one of the little usb voltage/amp meters that just go inline with any usb device.

  • +1

Delivery times are woeful but I suppose that's expected with cheap items from China. What is inexcusable is me waiting on an item for 8 days that was coming from 30km away. Australia Post do my head in.

    • +1

      ^^this

buying stuff from aliexpress and seeing that an item left china/HK/etc by air 4 weeks ago and I still havent received it.

  • +1

Thanks OP, you've shown me the light…

  • Just received my order of these from the last deal. All of them are working, & surprisingly don't heat up that much from continuous use.

  • Don't forget Cashrewards!!

  • I just ordered 5pcs which might receive within 1month.
    Anyway, thanks for posting!

  • I ordered these on the 20th of last month —— still waiting.

Hopefully will arrive this week or the next, or the following one, or the one after that.. eventually….

    • mine arrived today.

      • Mine arrived yesterday and I'm rather impressed with the brightness and low power usage…. Definitely keepers. Glad to hear you got your ones as well.

  • thanks op, bought 2

  • thank you, ordered.

  • Can I program it? E.g. it light up if one of the server is going down?

  • +1

Just received a coupon code from GearBest. GBLED reduce the price to USD $0.10 for new customers / PayPal payment only.

  • Has anyone owned and run these long term (or own enough of these for variation) able to comment on how they are performing despite the fact these are LEDs wired in parallel?

    Long version:
From the look of it anyway it's 5V to 3 LEDs in parallel then all through a 150 ohm resistor. Now being a "cheap" yum cha product (not that I object hehe) I'm kinda assuming a higher chance the LEDs aren't perfectly matched so one may pull much more current (and thus brightness but also wear and tear) than the other two.

I'm doing some small USB lighting projects at the moment and being able to use prebuilt 20cent ones (sadly not 2cents for me lol) would save a lot of time, effort and cost of materials too! Since I was thinking of using 2835's too.

  • How come it's $2.4 for me?! When I click on the link that's the price I see.

  • Received my pack today that I'd ordered on the 25/04 or later (I can't really remember)

    Thumbs up

  • +1

Back on sale it seems US $0.99.

I recently received my prev order only a couple weeks ago too. But I've ordered another 2x 5 packs because this time the warm white is also the same price. Last time I could only get cool white. (yes I have a specific use in mind where it matters)
