30% off Renewal or Registration for The Coffee Club VIP Membership ($17.50)

1130
TCC-EXPIRED-020V

Hey Ozb,

Update: comments report that the deal is still valid, but gives only a 30% that takes the price from $25 to $17.50

This is a deal posted by BlueSkyHarvest a bit under 2 years ago. I was thinking of using the TCC near my house as a place to study so I took the coupon code they gave — TCC-EXPIRED-019V — and incremented the number '19' by 1. Completely genius if I do say so myself. The old deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/205447

Copy and paste of their write-up:

Just renewed and paid $12.50 instead of $25 by using code TCC-EXPIRED-019V

"If you have a special Promotion Code, enter this here
Promotion Code: TCC-EXPIRED-019V

Half-Price Renewal accepted

Price $12.50 AUD
All payments processed in AUD
Amex & Diners Card not accepted"

Benefits of membership are listed as - "Show your VIP Club card when you place an order in-store and get:
Buy one, get one FREE (for all hot drinks) all day, everyday – see Terms and Conditions
10% off the price of all food and other drinks on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays – see Terms and Conditions
The chance to win amazing prizes every month. At the end of every month, VIP Members will automatically be put into a draw to win one of eight x $100 The Coffee Club Cash vouchers, just by visiting The Coffee Club (and swiping your card). Winners are chosen at random. Remember – you MUST swipe your card to go into the draw!
Discounts and special offers from your local store.
The VIP Club membership is only $25 a year (which you’ll quickly make back in free coffees); this includes your very own personalised membership card."

I started using this when there was the free membership promotion (also posted on Ozb) and the staff seemed happy to ring up two hot drinks on the register and bring you the second one whenever you ask for it, if you happen to be on your own. IIRC it's a franchise though and even at the same store some staff are more rude strict than others so your mileage may vary. Works with new membership, they send you a temporary card (letter?) via email immediately and a plastic card within 10 days.

It normally takes 5 uses of the card on hot drinks to pay for itself. Now the same 5 uses represents a $12.50 saving, and the 10% discount makes their food prices slightly less unreasonable (how do you deduct '10%' from 'ridiculous'?) . Not a bargain for everyone but if cafe options are limited where you are then this might be for you.

If anyone from TCC is reading this, I was just kidding about the food, if I'm studying there all day of course I'll order some. :)

Edit: I just noticed that people have been reporting on the old deal that the alternative code 'R3ACT1V8' still works, as recently as two weeks ago. Whoops! I'll let mods decide whether to delete this post. 'TCC-EXPIRED-019V' code wasn't working and I guess I got carried away thinking I found a new code. :'( Has always been a good deal though.

This is part of Mother's Day deals for 2017.

    Just joined TCC.Thanks OP

    Promo code R3ACT1V8($17.50)
    Promo code TCC-EXPIRED-020V ($12.50)

Obviously I used the code OP posted

    • Oh! I didn't realise R3ACTIV8 was less of a discount. Technically the old deal never got marked as 'expired' so I was worried this deal was going to meet with a lot of 'yeah we know's but I'm glad it didn't. Thanks for telling me!

  • All good, great work genius!

    • +1

My ability to increment a number is unmatched except by the late Steve Jobs, who would also throw in the occasional 'S'. Maybe that would get an even bigger discount?

  • +1

Bought this last year. Coffee is good enough to justify going there.

Only need to buy a few coffees a year with my partner to make it worth it.

  • +4

The coffee is alright, the food is tragic though.

    • +1

You can say that again… Food seems to come out of vacuum sealed bags.

      • +1

i call it frozen reheated food.

        • It's fresh frozen

    • I have eaten at my local TCC many times and personally think their food is great.

      • Thinking their food is nice is a strange reason to neg

      • +2

Are you sure you don't own that local TCC franchise?

    • -1

I really can't agree with you more, and I could go into detail about that but I'd be afraid of upsetting the cook. Let's just say that my nearby TCC is a nicely furnished place, opens late, convenient spot, and I get a table with a powerpoint. They have a lot of draws but food ain't one.

    • I think it's hit or miss per store.

I find the stores in the CBD areas are absolutely awful (the kind of awful where you decide wasting the food is better than forcing it down.. but still force it down) but I find I've consistently had some really good meals at other TCCs - enough that I pay their relatively premium prices more often than I should be able to afford.

I find their coffee almost anywhere is juuust under so-so, I'm not super fussy about coffee but I find the only times I get a coffee that isn't really bland and almost warm milk, is when it's burnt. That or I'm just unlucky with the staff on at the time.

  • +4

I remember when this was free and i still never used it

  • +6

Hrmm.. I've tried a few coffee clubs around Sydney, and the coffee has always been burnt, and food has been terrible or not properly cooked.

    • Same in Perth.

      • +3

And if you show your VIP card, they will burnt the milk even more. ;)

      • +1

        Same in Brissy.

  • Thanks OP.

  • +6

This is such a terrible chain.

  • +5

This place is only for those who know no better.

  • -7

Why would you want to be a "member"? This so called "club" is just all about overpriced food and below average coffee. It's no surprise that most of their budget goes on TV advertisements on the Today Show etc to lure the suckers in.

    • +3

Why not? Just because you don't enjoy what they have to offer, or you've had a bad experience at one of their stores, is no reason to discourage others from joining.

      • +2

Just because you don't enjoy what they have to offer, or you've had a bad experience at one of their stores, is no reason to discourage others from joining.

That's actually how society in general works.

People share their experiences for the greater good, it's a really cool system.

        • +1

I have no problem with people sharing their experiences, as I expect and encourage other OzB members to be open-minded and read my personal opinion/experience, but to negatively vote against a deal and question why others would want to be a part of said deal, is just not necessary and in no way adds a positive contribution.

          @cdestratis:

          Backwards thinking.

        • @pigferret:

          Thanks for your valuable insight.

    • +6

Because two coffees for the price of one is a bargain.

      • +2

There coffee should be half price based on the quality, so its not a bargain.

        • Their coffee could be better, but it's not the worst I've had.

        • -1

          @SavageCarrot:
If the establishment name is coffee club, coffee should be in higher standard, isn't it?
hit and miss good quality coffee doesn't cut it.

    • +2

I'm not a fan either but just because you don't like it is no reason to neg a deal

    • +1

Yeah, it's mainstream culture bullshit, it's weird how people try to make out that there's something in vogue or special about a cafe. It would be generous to call it average but it stays open late and that's something even trendy cafes don't do. It's purely about utility and convenience without being pretentious so it is weird how they try to dress it up. But hey, think of it like half-price coffees for a year but only after you get 3 6 stamps on your coffee card.

  • +2

Everyone is posting different reviews of their coffee's because they vary greatly depending on individual store. I've had both some of the best coffee (gold coast) and some of the worst coffee (canberra) in these stores.

    • +2

Who would have thunk that you would have varied experiences from a franchised store!

    • +1

Not only that, but people enjoy different kinds of coffee. Some people prefer darker roasts, some prefer espresso crema. The Coffee Club's coffee is fine by my standards, so that's why I'm a member.

  • +4

7-eleven has 1 dollar coffee and often free with other promotions. Er…, 12.5 is like 12 cups…

    • Yeah but its 7-11

      • +1

I don't rate 7 11 much worse than my local coffee club. Sounds like there are some good locations though

    • +1

.. can't go wrong with coffee from 7/11 .. love it!!! .. if you haven't tried it DON'T knock it!!!

  • +1

Used the code last time around and still never went to TCC to use it. Wasted $12.50.

To be honest I try to avoid the big brands/cafe chains when it comes to cafes. Much better coffee/dining experiences at the local cafes.

    • +1

Usually that behaviour is reserved for Udemy courses.

    • I joined when it was free and didn't use it then! Haha

  • +3

Gee, there are some grumps around here. I tried this and it worked - $12.50 - just renewed my wifes and my cards. We probably save about $100 a year or more on coffees.

    • +1

you should probably stop drinking so much coffee.
      you would save alot more.

      • +2

IMO, $100 per year towards an activity like drinking coffee with the wife is good insurance.

  • Is it just me or does the price not change on the page after you add the code?

    • Same here, the page doesnt refresh so it still shows $25. Is there a trick to applying the discount?

      • It should say that the discount has been applied. Maybe your net connection, or maybe someone at TCC put the brakes on the deal? Definitely don't confirm it unless it shows a discount.

    • Same here. Reluctant to hit submit (even though there are supposedly a few more steps before completion).

EDIT: Tried entering some dodgy CC details and clicking submit. Next page (i.e. confirmation of details) shows code accepted and price adjusted to $12.50.

  • Just renewed my card… worked perfectly, thanks OP!

  • I use my membership fairly regularly, more than enough to save $12.50 a year.

Unfortunately this code can only be used within 3 months of the renewal date.

    • my card doesn't expire until mid-June, if I renew now,
will it start my new year now,
or will it start when my current one expires (mid-June) ?

      • +1

Mine expires mid-June as well. I renewed mine and got the remaining time, plus a year, so fear not :-)

        • great thanks alot :)

    • Maybe so, but I used it with a new account and it worked. I had a card around 3 or 4 years ago but it's long gone. The new account is with the same name and AFAIK there aren't any benefits to renewing an expired card vs re-registering unless so if you have a long expired card you could make a new account.

  • Thanks, might renew again. The best coffee club lunch I've tried is at Market City, Sydney. The other surrounding suburbs were average, and so was the coffee.

  • Not unless they bring back the $5 memberships!

  • I m from Gold Coast as well. I had no problem with quality or service, and smiley faces in surfers, tweed are bonus. Negative mark is unjust, unfair. And saving is huge if you have a coffee with your friends once a week. I personally have two drink myself few times a week. It is a great saving and great coffee

    • Negative mark is unjust, unfair.

I don't think I've ever been defended so righteously in my life. Thanks!

  • Too bad there isn't one near me :/

  • +1

If you want coffee which comes from an espresso machine (which is fine by me) then you may as well just get it from 7-11 for a dollar.

  • Can't they just do 50% off drink, instead of buy one get one free, and I can't drink both.. Duh..

    • Hey, I'm writing this from the TCC and when I asked to have the two drinks at different times the lady serving me just said 'that's what people normally do'. That's at Kogarah so again, mileage may vary, but you can use it to get a tea before or after your coffee or just two teas. :)

      • +1

It's australia wide. I order one to drink and then you remind waiter towards when your ready to leave for the 2nd

    • Get a girlfriend (or boyfriend).

      • My missus ain't gonna follow me around the business hours, so yea your point is invalid..

  • +1

Would you believe I received 2 VIP renewal letters today? thanks, great timing!

  • Eastgardens TCC shutdown

Mascot Central seems decent enough to jump onto this.

Can it be used with the weekly specials?

  • +1

I hunted all last week for a new code. Pinned the tab for the renewal as mine expires on the 2nd and I was so hoping an OZ Bargainer would come up with a new 50% off code.

And YAY!!!!! @Krizy did it! Thanks Krizy!!!

I love a cuppa out with friends and Coffee Club is a nice place to visit with them. I am not a fanatic about my coffee - though, if it is real bad I do notice and Coffee club is not even close to real bad.

I have had coffee in various Asian countries (including the Coffee Clubs),I have not found the coffee near as enjoyable as the Coffee Clubs I have been to in OZ.

  • I don't understand why people just like to criticise a deal. Half price is half price. If you don't like it ….don't get it.

  • I just joined using the code. Thank you OP.
I got an email with a letter to use until my card arrives. Do I really need to print it out or can I just show them my email?
Also I couldn't see anywhere in the T&C about if the buy 1 get 1 free applies to take away coffees. Does anyone use their VIP memebership for take away coffee?

    • You could probably just write down the membership number on a piece of paper and use that. They need to enter it into the POS computer before they can give you a discount. If they ask questions tell them your card is in the mail and show them your email.

  • Sigh didnt see this post.. i just renewed my membership using the mother's day offer (paid $15). "Spoil mum this Mother's Day with VIP Club membership! $10 discount of the VIP Club card using the code: ILOVEMUM". Could have save the $2.50 for something else

  • +1

Can confirm this still works. Used on a renewal. :) Thanks OP.

  • Can confirm still works, just signed up today 26/7/17

  • Confirming this code still works on 7/8/2017

  • Code still works, even for my targetted offer - 14 months for $12.50 :-)

  • +2

The code bring down the price to 17.50

  • +1

Code TCC-EXPIRED-020V is still working, but as sophie11 has already stated, the discount is no longer 50% but $17.50 is still better than $25.

  • Just an update: code TCC-EXPIRED-020V is still working as of today, but at $17.50.

  • Tried the code today, still works but for $17.50

  • TCC-EXPIRED-020V still works and renewed for $17.50

  • TCC-EXPIRED-020V still works, joined for $17.50 but try EXPIRYTHIRTY17_15 for $15 first…. i found it after I made the purchase… D'oh!

  • EXPIRYTHIRTY17_15 still works for $15 renewal.

  • Has anyone noticed when you renew you no longer get the free coffee sign up voucher? Also, looking at the coffee club VIP site, no mention of free birthday freebie either? Can anyone confirm if this is really the case? Thanks in advance!

  • Still running??

  • +1

Didn't work for me. Tried 2023VIP1250 and renewed for $12.50

  • How do I renew? My plan doesn’t end until a week or two. I tried cancelling but only gives me option to renew without entering code. Tia
