yes. band 28 is in there

    • What does band 28 mean? And will this get 4g coverage with vodafone? Please be so kind to help me out :)

      • +1

Google the will my phone work website. it's very handy

      • +1

It's even better than the previous 27 bands!

  • +5

Nice, this SoC not only is cooler and faster than the 820 but supports official RR ROM!! Thanks OP :-)

    • What do you mean by that? care to elaborate please? Thank you :)

      • +4

Since this is the international model, its using a exynos chip instead of the Qualcom 820, and Exynos is meant to be quicker.
It also has far more ROM support, the 820 basically has none.

        • +2

That's so weird.. I thought that the qualcom always had better custom rom support than exynos but just checked xda and what you say is true…

        • @cosjav: Yea it's something to do with US carriers locking it all down iirc

  • -7

waiting for s8 to come under <$800 :)

    • +10

Try again when S9 comes out.

      • S10 more like it maybe

    • +1

Not saying SS is great but those negs seem largely from people who have not even bought anything from them, just snowballing from other negs

      • +3

I do agree but people with legitimate issues shows that Shopping Square has little to no support with the warranty of the device. Plus, since the device is a grey import, Samsung Australia will not touch it.

It is a great deal though, if you don't have any issues.

      • +8

Unfortunately my experience with Shopping Square hasn't been very positive either.

Just this month, after placing an order for a S7 Edge and having to chase it up myself, I was told there was no available stock (even though I was one of the first purchasers according to the eBay listing). All in all, I didn't see a refund until over a week later. If this is their pre-sales service, I can't imagine what their after sales service is like…

Nevertheless, I'm only one of many customers, so maybe others have had a better experience with these folks. But personally, I will be staying away from Shopping Square when it comes to bigger purchases.

        • +4

My experience is also not good. I bought a "new" external hard drive from them that already had someone else's movie files on it. It was defective, and the previous purchaser had obviously sent it back.

        • @RedHab:

Me too. Both of my phones turned up from this deal and they are gimped G930V's. The software cannot be updated, etc, etc.

  • +1

    Beware shopping square.

    • +2

Other than slow shipping even from Sydney, I didnt have any issues. Care to elaborate why you neg?

      • +1

Think there was about a dozen neg votes the last time because an ozbargainer reported some warranty issues. Like not being able to get a replacement phone in a reasonable time or something.

        • +1

Oh. That is bad. We should spread the word more in the case. Treeman wording didnt help saying that.

Ozbargain tends to be an echo chamber of negativity though so it's likely many people don't actually have first hand bad experience but like to agree with each other.

        • +1

@scrimshaw: The ol' OzBargain Sheep Syndrome. Sometimes more severe than the Entitled Syndrome ;)

        • +2

@scrimshaw: Thanks. I can see few users had issues and Rep didnt sort them out. Other users just followed suite. But I agree that 1 user in 100 or 200 will have an issue and if it is not sorted, there is issue with the business. They have grown in size now. Buyer strength…
Dont support sellers who do not treat buyers properly. Mainly the online ones where the only mode is online.

I had issue with G4 which I bought from QD store and it dies after 14 months of ebay sale. Sale clearly stated 12 months warranty, but I asked store that they accept items in Australia and Australian consumer law states that item should have lived more. Also it had known manf. fault.

Store was quick to send me an email with apology and said they cannot repair that one, but will send me another repair set which they obtained from LG and LG has stopped repairing them further. Was a decent response I would say.

What SE is doing is not acceptable as they have more presence here.

        • whose winning the next race?

        • +2

@Gaggy: SE - Shopping Express and SS - Shopping square are completely different companies. SE are in Sydney and sell aussie stock, SS are grey imports.

        • @the69thhokage:

I personally have had no issues, but too many horror stories via thread https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/298081
It is not just one it is many.

Yet I get negged through this thead? Makes no sense, one month everybody is against this company the next month everybody is happy to buy from, is a completely different set of users on this time compared to the last? Where are the other 37 people complaining like last time?

        • @daisyrory:

Oops accidentally logged in under my wifes account.

        • +1

          @daisyrory:

I'm one of those unlucky one who had to deal with SS for a warranty replacement.

Though i got a new replacement (after 3 months), i would never buy anything from SS again.

          The stress wasn't worth it.

        • @the69thhokage: Yea I know. Accidentally wrote that. I meant to say SS.

        • @daisyrory: Yea. You will see, there is a pattern like that always and it amuse me as well.

    • +1

This is a bad neg IMO… I remember back in the day when Neg's meant something serious

      • +1

Just like currency inflation, OzB votes ain't like they used to be…

        • Damn… Shoulda invested in more votes 10 years ago…

    • "allow 3-8 weeks for delivery"

    • lol true ozbargainer here.

  • -3

I just got an S5 for $367…….. help

    • +5

      cancel, refuse delivery, cry. etc…

    • +6

Just blame yourself, a true ozbargainer wouldn't buy an S5 for $367…

    • Soz for confusion guys, I didn't buy it online

    • +31

      also buy an S2.
      S5 + S2 = S7, problem solved :P

    • Nothing wrong with an s5

  • S7 edge worth he extra $100 ? Really not drawn to the s8 or s8+ as much as I thought with all the issues…

    • +2

You mean the pinkish screen that's easily fixed via software?

      • Sure if its pinkish right throughout, but many people have reds just around edges. Also Bluetooth issues.

Is it really worth a 100% premium for a bigger screen with a format not natively supported by many apps. Camera is the same and most other features.

        • +2

Ah, hadn't heard of the other issues. Screen format is a bleeding edge factor though. Just have to wait for the applications to catch up. Shouldn't be too much of a problem.

        • @Spectator:

I think OnePlus 3T is value at $496 on this sale. Much quicker updates than Samsung and also features AMOLED (not as good as Sammy though).

        • @samprofs: where did you see oneplus 3T at $496?

        • @pyramid:

This deal buymobileau shop. I feel like the s7 is still superior due to waterproofing and camera…

        • @samprofs:
Note that Oneplus 3T has no band 28. Good value if you're a vodafone customer, not so if you're Telstra or Optus. Losing speed on the internet is as bad as having a slow phone.

          Hope this helps.

    • Depending on if the extra 15% battery life, screen size and the 'edge' is worth $100 more to you.

  • use shopping square at your own risk, but cheapest i've seen S7 for

    • What is the risk exactly? Care to elaborate please :)

      • do some searches on warranty claims or repair requests when sent faulty units

  • Are there any non grey imports on Ebay? 20% and 5% discounts on right now but it seems hard to find a seller that is selling a new S7 that isnt a grey import. Also seems like a lot are refurbished phones as well.
Ive already bought a GI S7 for myself, but I think for my wife Id prefer something that can be fixed after the warranty.

    • How can you tell if its been refurbished. they say its new.

      • Hi, I was referring to other S7s on Ebay, lots are refurbs. Id like a new S7, shipped from Au and Id pay $630 or so, happily.

    • I second this as well. I don't mind grey imports tbh but if anyone knows of a legit seller, or a non-grey import at a reasonable price I'd still buy it.

  • I might pull the trigger on this one.

  • cheers OP. Figured it was time to upgrade from my S4.

  • keen, but hopefully a slightly more positively reviewed seller will come up with a sub $500 s7 deal

  • -1

Any cash rewards on this? Thanks

  • +4

I believe this is one of the most dishonest company on eBay. I bought LG G6 in March 21 got it on April 9. The box was all opened up and looked kind of old, the phone also had carrier logo pre installed. I immediately sent back the item and after numerous messages and return case on eBay, finally got refunded today. 13 days after the return. I don't believe they sell brand new phones, it's all refurbished. The price isn't worth either it's all jacked up. Here is my purchase proof.
    http://m.imgur.com/gallery/HHzH8Qp

    • Seems like that phone flopped like the G5 according to the recent deals selling it for around $750.

  • +1

    I am poor af.

  • +8

7 months, still haven't received my refund for my defective phone. Appalling customer service and I'm not the only one.

See - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/298081 or other forum posts for dealings with the ShoppingSquare group.

Rep - if you are adamant ShoppingSquare is not related to ShoppingDaily I suggest you disassociate your return mailing address from them. Until such time it is reasonable to assume you are the same company or somewhat integrated.

    • Lol, I think it'll be cheaper for them to give you the refund… You're very vocal. Have you tried chargeback? (Apologies in advance for not reading all your SS comments, there seems to be a lot)

      • Agreed! Not that hard to just refund me.
Tried chargeback and PayPal disputes. My next step is probably going to be the police as they've got my money and the device and are refusing to respond.

        • Don't waste your time, the police wouldn't do anything because you can't prove it's a criminal matter.

They have an ABN so you can take them to VCAT. (OR NCAT/ACAT, whichever state you are in). High success rate for a case like yours, only downside is another month wait for hearing and a month for the order to be enforced. If they refuse to pay, you can send a Sherif. CAT and Sherif bill payable by shopping sqr (if they are found to be in the wrong).

Sherif can seize company property in case of non-payment

          Good luck

    • Hi fruitbag

Since you are NOT shoppingsquare customer, I am not able to help you here.

I would suggest you to open a eBay or Paypal dispute if your seller didn't response to your enquiries. You can have your refund if the seller didn't response to your request or PayPal agree with your refund request.

I hope these information can help you solve your problem.

      cheers
      Dan

      • I've recieved a G930V instead of a G930F. Please advise how to return these phones as they have been incorrectly advertised.

  • From researching I found out that this company is the worst in customer care experience and dishonesty is a bonus you get. They send you used phones as a replacement of your new phone.

    Buyers, you've been warned.

  • +2

I thought they would of refunded by now?
I had to use PayPal protection after almost 6 months without a refund from a defective phone.

    • -1

      Hi jinx83
Please PM me your order detail and problem, I might able to help

      • I've recieved a G930V instead of a G930F. Please advise how to return these phones as they have been incorrectly advertised.

  • agreed with everyone, i bough some fake brand T-shirt from these guys before. looks like they are selling everything with no garenty. be aware.

    • +1

      no garenty.

      with no what? ;)

      • +1

        ha, sorry, my spelling

        guaranty

  • +3

Please stay away from this company
I was one of those that they tried to blackmail into dropping my PayPal dispute after not getting my phone back for 6 months

  • +1

I have received a fake/defective SD card from shopping square I wouldn't trust them for something as big as a phone.
Looking historically you may be able to get this phone for ≈$100 more expensive but local stock.

    Ozbargainers beware.

    Reason for neg->

    • Major issue with retailer
    • I have received a fake/defective SD card

Just wondering… was it defective, or was it fake? If it was fake, how did you identify this? Thanks.

      • Hello sir Mr tightarse.

The actual capacity turned out to be ≈8Gb when advertised/labelled was 32Gb…
I used this to test the capacity…
What it does is it writes "useless" data on the SD card and tries to read it.
Only ≈8Gb of useable memory was included.
Giving the illusion that it was a greater capacity than it actually is. Any data after 8Gb was overwritten rather than saved.
I would like to think it was defective but now that I think about it it was probably fake.

Thanks again for everything you do…
I'm a big fan of your work.
        0p

        • :/ Fake is common problem cos hard to spot. But if it's 8gb vs 32gb, that's easy to spot… not sure why anyone would intentionally try to do that, other than if they where a 1 day store… open today, close tomorrow

        • not sure why anyone would intentionally try to do that, other than if they where a 1 day store… open today, close tomorrow

It's SS there are a permanent shop?

      • +1

I should have mentioned, the software I used is called-

        h2testw

So either Google that or download it from the linked link for your linking pleasure…
        0p

        • Hey Op, thanks for the feedback. Personally, I would have given the benefit of the doubt to SS and asked for an explanation and a chance to make good. But that's just me lol. I'd hate to think they deliberately sent you a fake (could be a supplier issue at their end). Still, you're not the only that's had an issue so it appears the store does have a few things it needs to iron out, which I'm sure they eventually will. After all, it can only be a good thing for OzBargainers having all these stores competing against each other. Have a great day :)

        • Hey tightarse
I gave them the benefit of doubt and continue to be Thier customer…
I just asked for a refund and understood this was probably a shipment error.
But if the label states 32 and the computer says 32 I would expect 32.
Not some 8Gb SD made to look like it's 32Gb…
          Thanks

  • Dodgy as hell! Good luck fixing the any issues you may have with them!

    • What happened to you? If you don't mind me asking

      • Their "4k" hdmi cables they sell on under "apaus" or something were an absolute joke! Tried 3 of them and they were all cutting out at 4k res, even 1080 sometimes.

At the end I just gave up

        • -2

You must have bought the cheap non gold plated ones :/
Next time may I suggest monster ≈$4000 ones instead?

        • Some manufacturers just don't understand how to make cables… They think its just an electric wire. I remember back in the day most micro-usb cables didn't do fast charge, and they try to sell it as fast charge.

They just think you wouldn't know the diff.

Did you get a resolution to your issue??

  • -2

    What an explosive deal!

  • +1

Hi, how can you tell if it I'd brand new or refurbished phone??

    • Battery charge cycles? Sealed box? SSD power on time?

      • from my experience with SS, none of the phones I bought from them came sealed. They were all opened, and you can see finger prints on the phone already.

First thing i did when i got the phone was to restore to factory default or flash the phone with official firmware.

  • Anyone able to to me if this is the version with the good processor and DAC for music?
Also would it be worth the $50 extra over the Moto g5+ that's going to launch soon?
