What are you basing that on? Looks like rep did their research to better other offers.

The S7 & S7 Edge on offer here are $30 cheaper than the grey import deal by Dick Smith / Kogan which received 118 votes and had 100s of units sold.

    • Maybe you're talking about the G6?

looking at the product pages :

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/product/samsung-galaxy-s7

they are actually the cheapest around right now, but I do like kogan warranty after my experience with a bootlooped G4

      • +5

Telstra have already released pricing for the G6, $1008 outright, I'd much rather pay that and have the Aus warranty then save $30 here and deal with any future issues via post.

        • +2

Better yet, don't buy a phone where 90% of the prior 5 versions have failed before the 12 month mark*

*Yes, completely unsubstantiated claim (sorry), but we'll never know the true numbers so why not eh. All I've seen a failed G3/G4/G5 units, mostly bootloop, others with serious GPS/other issues, throw in the Nexus issues and I (and many others) have 0 confidence in LG phones. Despite how beautiful they are.

        • @nzcoops:

Call me stupid but yes I've got a G4 and yes it boot-looped, like most of them, but I'd still buy another LG phone.

I bought mine from an eBay seller based in Taiwan and cost me $30 to post it back to them when it boot-looped and 3 weeks later i had it back with a new motherboard, and also a bonus battery and charging case. Overall very happy with that service.

I think the main issue with boot-loops related to the G4/V10/5X generation of phones… I haven't seen much evidence to see that previous or post generation of LG phones are failing much higher than the average for all android smart phones. I think some people just like to push the narrative a bit by adding in extra models… The GPS issue with the G5 I believe was fixed with later models and with the earlier ones it could be fixed by taking the case off and slightly bending the contacts out so they made proper contact with the antenna. Not good enough I know, but not something that myself personally would stop me from buying their phones.

        • @brad1601: I had the G3, had huge memory issues when lollipop came out. Switch out of the lightest of apps (say a weather app) to the homescreen and then back into the app and it would 'relaunch' the app, barely kept a thing in it's 3Gb of memory. Battery issues as well. Noting the G3 issues seem far less wide spread than the horrid G4. G5's also had bootloop issues. I know at least 5 people that had an N5 (N5X's predecessor) bought straight from the play store when released. All 5 had to get replacements from google within 6 months. Sure, largely batch 1 faults.

LG phones aren't 'typically mainstream', and I acknowledge that I (well we all probably are) am in semi techy circle of friends. With that said, with the exception of maybe one or two N5X's, all the LG's I known of (in the flesh, n>20) have 'had serious issues'.

        • +1

          @nzcoops:

Fair enough, I had never heard of widespread issues with the Nexus 5. I had several nexus 5s all bought day 1 from the play store in my friend/family group, including my own and as far as I know all are still surviving, albeit in a drawer somewhere by now.

        • +1

@brad1601: I know two people who bought a Nexus 5, both had the power/lock button fail which is the most common issue from what I've seen. -It just thinks its being pressed down all the time causing it to constantly turn off and on….looks nearly exactly like a boot loop i believe. Giving it a shake or whacking it against something soft like a couch can sometimes temporarily fix it. The button always felt fine but there must be something inside of it still making contact.

They both failed around the 1.5 year mark (one bought a month after release, the other about 7 months), one of the replacements failed just over 11 months after that. Just a poor button design, everything else worked fine.

    • Not a good price for the LG G6.

      • +1

Lg phones usually fall in price quickly.

  • +6

Which model variant of the S7 Edge is being offered, rep? Snapdragon or Exynos processor?

  • +2

S8 will be $1300 when it is released next week. By the time it comes down to $600 (that's when we jump in)S9 will be ready to rock and roll. S7 Edge was the best of last year. Best price I have seen so far!

  • Hey Rep, which model i.e. SM-G925F etc is the edge model?

  • I will wait for few months before buying a LG device, so normally drops prices quicker

  • +1

Dammit, just bought my wife one last week…
Interestingly the S-View case from a local seller arrived today, phone (from DSE) still hasn't shipped…

Anyone think the S7 Edge will go under $500 around the S8 announcement? thinking of treating my mum to something a little fancier than some Chinese Droid phone, she'll be shifting from my old Note 3.

    • +2

Anyone think the S7 Edge will go under $500 around the S8 announcement

unlikely. The price of $599 just so happens to be that because there is a coupon to bring it down from 650

Otherwise the current retail price of most units is still at $700 before any coupon.

If anything I feel that the normal RRP will still be upwards of $500 after S8 is released.

      • I don't think the RRP will drop, more that the street prices will suddenly push it down as it's not the latest and greatest.

eBay 'inflated' prices during sales aren't the best indication of it either IMO.

If it's suddenly able to be bought around $500 I may just do it. Though a 6" screen model would be far more beneficial for her.

    • I'll grab an S7 if under $500, that should happen soon.

  • +52

Warning…I have had serious issues with my Galaxy S7 Edge from Shopping Daily (same group as APUS Computing and Shopping Square). I returned the phone for repairs and the communication stopped. It's been 4-5 months without my S7 Edge or a refund now.

Read my forum post for other people's experiences with ShoppingSquare too - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/289858.

    • +3

Read your post. Thanks for the timely warning.
      Question:
What exact type of Australia Post service did you use that PayPal rejected?

      • It was actually reply paid to APUS Computing in Silverwater NSW. When I handed the package to AusPost I only received a tracking number sticker in return and got the response "That's it, done!".

        • +2

Yeh I actually paid for a signature just in case. Funny thing is they told me they haven't received it yet, until I showed them the signature upon receipt, which had been picked up and signed 3 weeks beforehand. I think they just make up responses on the spot and try to delay as long as possible until the PayPal claim period expires.

    • +4

Thanks for the warning, seems like you weren't the only one :/

    • +2

Had 2 bootlooped G4s, 1 from Kogan, 1 from a HK seller perfect_mission on ebay

Can't fault Kogans warranty, I have to praise them; couldn't replace/repair the handset and they offered a range of handsets for replacement but went with store credit (bought initially during ebay sales of course, so full value credit) + paid a little more for an S7 edge

perfect_mission, contacted via ebay'ed (was very close to 1year being up) used packandsend (local courier place; was expensive still to send li-on battery but literally reached them next day) to send it back (claimed back partial cost from paypal), and received it repaired after a few weeks

    • +4

was about to buy but saw your comment. ta for warning, taking my purchase elsewhere!

    • +3

You are not the only one.

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/295155

So sad, this company is still allowed to do business here.

      • Comes down to a % of complaints other 10,000 customers might be happy ……

        • +1

Yes, i was that 10.000 customer, until it happened to you.

    • +4

Exactly same issue as fruit bag, so I would steer clear, probably shipping out all the refunded phones.

    • +3

Wow, I will definitely avoid them. Thank you for the heads up.

    • +3

Thanks for heads up on this - looks like your not the only one

    • Just in regards to your post:
"I didn't get a receipt because it was reply paid. "

I've returned items with return postage paid too. Aus post will give you a receipt at the counter, you might have refused it, or lost it since but they definitely give receipts for paid returns. Did you take a photo of the item you returned? If you did the number will be somewhere on the label. You can always contact Aus Post and ask for a re-issue of the receipt.

      • Just responded above, handed to someone over the counter at AusPost and was just given a tracking number sticker and the response saying "That's it, done!". I did reach out to AusPost a couple of months back to ask for a receipt and they said they were unable to provide a receipt as they "didn't keep this type of information on their system."

    • +8

These guys are horrible to deal with - see this thread as well https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/264451?page=1#comment-3982…

      • +3

bullet dodged thanks! We ozB community should -ve voe deals from this company masisvely!

  • S7 Edge or Oneplus 3T ???

    • I've used S7 and moved to Oneplus 3 and never looked back. Looks better, feels premium and screen is just awesome. Performance along is good enough reason for Oneplus 3 over S7. It's faster in all aspects. More RAM always helps. Android is pretty much stock. Fingerprint reader is lightening fast. Customization options are unbeatable. Only cons would be camera. I personally prefer S7 rear camera over Oneplus 3. But front camera I'd say both are similar. (I initially worried about only FullHD resolution on 5.5 screen on Oneplus 3 but you know what. I compared both phones side by side and I couldn't tell the difference. and Yes, I'm fuzzy..:-))

      • fuzzy … LOL

        • Sorry, I mean fussy.. LOL

  • -2

Quite strange, normally dual sim version will be cheaper

  • How is warranty, rep? Do I need to send the phone back to HK?

  • Vaya or SS?

  • +1

Anyone think I'll be able to get a better deal than this?

This time 2 years ago I paid $459 for a Samsung Galaxy S5. Was kinda hoping it would go under $500 but I'm losing faith.

    • I'll grab an S7 if under $500, I think that should happen very soon.

  • +1

Does LGEE GEE 6 work on band 28

  • Rep, any chance of a better deal on the LG V20? Currently $809 before discount.

  • +19

Lack of customer service and no reply from customer inquiries.
Refund was due over 4 months ago.

    NSWFT have been informed.

      • +14

I did, but you haven't reply to me yet.

        • Please keep us informed of progress.

        • +1

          @PJC:

Got a pm from danilochan, he said he's going to have a look at this for me.

        • @rockuman_ex: That's a start, anyway. Let us know how it goes.

      • +1

        @danilochan any update?

You said you are going to help me to look at my case?

I haven't heard anything back from you nor from my ticket on shopping square website.

        Please reply.

        • Negging due to numerous examples of inadequate customer care by Shopping Square and also the degree of indifference demonstrated by Store Rep OP regarding Member rockuman_ex's matter.

        • +1

          @PJC:

Yes, I'm starting to loose my patience.

If i don't hear anything from them next week, I'm taking this matter further.

          This is blatantly wrong.

        • @rockuman_ex: Basically OP and his company are teaching us to distrust Shopping Square. If I burn my hand, I do not put it back in the fire. Keep us informed.

        • @PJC:

Got a PM this morning from @danilochan, he said he's going to check with the repairer and will get back to me before the end of today.

I hope he can close this case once and for all.

        • @rockuman_ex: Good. This really should not have resembled tooth extraction.

        • +1

          @PJC:

Just got a reply from @danilochan

He's offering me a refurbished phone.

I hope it will in as new condition as my phone was in immaculate condition, not a single scratch whatsoever.

          We'll see.

Either way, I'm very thankful with @danilochan, he keeps his words.

        • +1

@rockuman_ex: That sounds like progress, but it really should not have grown so long a beard. Come back and tell us if the replacement is acceptable.

        • @rockuman_ex: That is a good result. Well done.

        • +3

          @PJC:

another update, just got the phone.
as @danilochan promised, it is brand new.

So, i'm happy with the outcome.

        • @rockuman_ex: Excellent, the perseverance was worthwhile. Let's hope that Shopping Square's performance improves significantly.

  • +2

I like the LG G6 but scared of bootloop and price too high for me. Will wait few months for price to drop and whether bootloop is an issue.

  • +1

My Lg G4 still going strong after returned after the bootloop fiasco

    • how many months?

      • +1

Around 18 months and no bootloop on my G4. But I don't see the point in buying the G6 grey import at this price. The Telstra outright price leaked the other day and it won't be much more with 24 month warranty from a local store with good reputation for after sales support.

    • +2

Me too, been running my G4 hard everyday from the Kogan deal this time last year for $368. Couldn't be happier with the phone. Will definately buy LG again. No proof that bootloop issue exists in G6 at this stage?

  • Is that too difficult to state whether it is snapdragon or exynos?

  • Are they going to cancel orders en-masse for this as well?

  • +2

For the S7 Vaya has the dual sim version for just $8 more. Would that not be better?

    Hey Rep!!!!
What will you do for fruitbag rep???
It looks like you might have ripped him right off!!

I really think you should explain this case publicly:
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/298081#comment-4538373
It is putting many potential customers including myself right off and effecting your reputation here.
No way I will buy from you if I run the risk of getting screwed over with terrible repair service or even losing all my money.
Getting ready to neg for problems with the company….
    Please explain

    • +4

True to the T. thanks for warning us about this shady group!! Will never do business with such hideous reputation.

      • +4

As I mentioned in our DM, the reply paid address was to APUS Computing in Silverwater, so your businesses must be somewhat related.

      • +8

I don't think you are convincing anyone with that line Dan.
No doubt you are all the exact same APUS group with the same address and repairs.
Instead of slipping out of it, what actual solutions can you offer fruitbag?
I would move like greased lighting, Danlochan, because you are watching your reputation here on Ozbargain go down the plug in front of your eyes. That translates to thousands of real sales lost and you can expect this to keep coming back like Herpes every time you post.
It's much smarter to actually fix the problems.

      • +4

Sounds like you guys shit the bed on this one.

I would focus on fixing the problems with your last batch of phones before trying to flog them off on here.

Issue the guys refunds at the very least.

      • +21

        OK Dan,
        Thats is total BS.

I seldom vote negative but today is the day not I but we have to pull the trigger, feeling bad about all those fellows who suffered at their hands

    • +1

Agreed, but I'll have to wait because "Your negative votes have been revoked 3 times over the last 90 days, and you are not able to vote negative until 22 March at 20:25".

  • +3

Thanks to those for bringing to my attention the previous incidents raising some serious concerns with this seller. I will be staying well away!

  • +11

I have had issues in the past with shopping square where I waited 2 months for a phone I bought then another month for a refund because they said it was never sent

    • +4

I waited 2 months for a broken phone sent back for repair and waited 6 months, about one week before PayPal escalation would expire. Tried to communicate just getting the same run around and eventually stopped replying to me until I escalated with PayPal. Got my refund from PayPal in this instance, hopefully fruitbag can solves his problems, cause I know dealing with them is a pain, tried threatening me also to drop claim if I wanted my phone back, like others on here. I just pasted the whole conversation to paypal and it was all good.

  • +5

Time for some explanation Store Rep, just because of your greediness(not acknowledging your mistake and refunding) , you guy's have lost at least few hundred potential customers. Shame!!!

  • +5

Unsure why Rep remains quiet. Surely if he can reply once, he can reply to other comments as well. Feels like he is trying to dodge…

finally, reach your post. I replied mostly of the "ShoppingSquare" customer issue via PM already. thanks for pointing out.

Just PM me, if your problem hasn't been resolved. I will try to help

      cheers

  • +3

wow, feel for those affected. Never thought this would happen.

  • +3

not to be trusted based on feedback from disgruntled customers.

  • +3

ShoppingSquare should be banned along with those affiliated!

  • +4

Voting negative for the good of the community, dealt with similar junk stores as this in the past and it's a nightmare.

@fruitbag You might be able to have your bank investigate for you if it was a credit card payment.

    • +1

      well… temporarily anyway.
Gearworst (gear best) should have been banned but recently their deals from china just make everything happy again.

  • +8

I have posted a few deals from Shoppingsquare previously but based on the poor service that fruitbagand hugh have received, I have to neg this deal. Can the rep please try and help these poor people. You are playing with people's hard earned cash. Just not on.

    • +12

Ive been a member of ozbargain for 8 years and logged in just to warn people to stay away as well as my first negative vote. Trying to blackmail me to drop my paypal disupute after waiting 6 months is ridiculous. Companies with such unethical business practices, shouldnt be in business.
