          Hi Level380 last years was 20% off no upgrade discount https://ventraip.com.au/blog/announcements/renew-your-web-ho… and "Customer Appreciation Week" is later in the year normally November. Last year that was 30%, 60% for upgrades.

          This is no guarantee that this year will be run similar. However it does give you some idea of what to expect.

        Hi i got a cpanel hosting with netvirtue that's about to expire in 5days. also have the domain up for renewal in June. Good timing! with the cpanel hosting, currently have a prod with mySQL db and a few test environments scattered around on the same account. Will the migration be an issue?

      As stated by Level380, all .COM.AU domain names must be registered for a period of 2 years. There are unfortunately no exceptions to this rule as it is enforced by the registry associated with these domain names.

      Correct and there is no way around it unless you meet one of the other eligibility requirements. https://www.auda.org.au/policies/2012-04 You also shouldn't follow the advice of using someone else's ABN to register. In the .au name space domain names are owned use to prove eligibility.

    In regards to Domain Names:
    Couldn't discern whether or not the deal is only for new domain name registrations, or does it include existing names transferred to VentraIP?
    Secondly is the $10/year perpetual … or does it go back to normal price upon renewal?

      It is for new registrations and the discount applies to 1st year only. Transfers of .au are free, however if the domain name only has a couple of weeks left on it you may be asked to renew it at transfer.

      Just to clarify; the discounted .COM.AU domain name offer is available for new registrations only and applies to the full 2 years. Transferring a .COM.AU domain name to VentraIP Australia is free of charge, however renewals will not be covered by this particular promotion.

    Be careful. During a previous Ventra sale, I signed up to discounted web hosting offering 12 months hosting for only about $1 from memory - a bargain. But after a month, I was invoiced full monthly fees anyway, which Ventra explained was my fault for not ticking a magic box they assured me was there. Process to cancel was a nuisance - wouldn't trust Ventra a second time.

      It sounds like you didn't use a 12 month (annual) term when you initially purchased the account.

      Process to cancel was a nuisance - wouldn't trust Ventra a second time.

      Out of curiosity what was hard about clicking the cancellation box? VentraIP, have a pretty generous cancellation policy, With no need to give them prior notice and no late fees or fees if you fail to terminate.

      The offer you're referring to was valid for purchases between 1-12 months and the discount only applied to the initial invoice. Unfortunately as you opted to purchase the service for a single month (instead of 12), our billing system then automatically reverted your payments back to RRP after the prepaid period had ended. There is no magic box but you are expected to select the billing cycle and thus the prepaid period of the service.

      Our Billing team were offering anybody who had opted for less than 12 months the opportunity to extend the offer. We also feel that we should take the time to assure anybody reading that cancelling a service is as simple as clicking a button and ticking a few boxes.

        In pursuit of truth, it wasn't that simple.

        It was, as I said, a nuisance. Especially as it involved first establishing why I'd been overbilled, which meant contacting Ventra. Immediately any savings were obliterated by the time it took to sort the issue out. Additionally, your control panels & interfaces are sub-standard to other hosting & domain providers; they lack finesse and feel like they belong in the past.

        As is evidenced by the magic box on your sign-up, which offered the opportunity for the error to occur in the first place. Perhaps a more experienced, professional company would take user experience and interface design into account, especially when offering promotions designed to capture new clients?

        Hence I also feel you should take the time to design better systems, least you ensnare other unsuspecting consumers who are used to better experiences elsewhere.

      I used hostgator for the past 5 years (cancelled in January 2017) and all I can say about them is their performance and customer service got worse each year. Can't speak for ventraIP's performance, but I'd be shocked if they're worse than hostgator.

          Ended up switching to free static site hosts like github pages. However I'm now in need of a cheap, shared host for a Wordpress site, so will be giving VentraIP a go. It's $14 for a year, worth the risk IMO

    I got this in my email last night. Excellent timing as I have at least one new .com.au domain to register plus I've got a couple of renewals that I can do this month. I might even shout myself a new cPanel account for one of them that I've been meaning to mail-enable.

    I've been with Ventra for several years now and always found them excellent. They don't try to be the cheapest but they do offer good value for money and very good customer service.
