Wow this seems like a great deal

    • Seems that way!

This is a solid deal. However, Clevo is releasing a complete series of new chassis and I might wait for the new ones.

  • Are you able to do any deals on the 14inch P641HK?

Also is that the P641HK1 or P641HK? Your website shows P641HK with 2400mhz DDR4 RAM. Only the P641HK1 supports 2400MHZ, the older P641HK supports 2133MHZ RAM.

    • It is the Clevo P641HK1 with 2400MHz. Metabox have tried to simplify the naming so go off our specs not the Clevo site. Metabox call it the P641HK.

Lol you recon I could claim this on tax working in a kitchen? " yeh Mr auditor, I needed this to load my awesome recipes"

    • Doesn't everyone play Doom while they cook?

    • Yeah just tell the Tax Office that you are inventing a VR restaurant ;)
You need a GTX1060 for that.

Needs less see pee yoos and rams and more gee pee yoos and gee-sinks.

  • is 32g the norm these days even if its a beast gamecard? i still have this mentality that anything over 8 is overkill

    • The laptops have 32GB of RAM, the GPU has 6GB. It really has gotten to the point where you want 6gb+ of memory on your GPU for AAA titles at > 1080p resolution.

  • Can the backlight be switched off? Why are the Samsung 9xx series SSDs so much more expensive to add when the market difference between them and Crucial's MX300 is significantly less? And finally could you throw in that free backpack? :D

    • +1

Backlight is present briefly on startup but can be switched off

    • Hi Icy,
As cwan suggests, yes you can turn off the back light and adjust brightness of it too.

The SSD prices are determined by Metabox so we don't have much say in the prices. You won't void the warranty if you want to open up the back and install your own HDD, SSD, RAM or Wi-Fi card. So very happy for you to buy your own cheaper SSD and install yourself. It's a really simple process.

As for the backpack, with our profit margin now after the price drop savings, we wouldn't be able to add in a free bag as well. Unless you paid full price. We need to be able to cover our cost of the backpack within the profit margin to allow us to offer something like that.

      Cheers

      • Thank you for your prompt response Kris :)

May I also ask which panels are used for the screens? I am curious about the sRGB/AdobRGB/NTSC colour space coverage.

        • No worries,

          FHD 60hz: LG LP156WF6-SPB1 (N7)

          FHD 120hz:AUO LCD B156HTN05.2

I'd have to wait until Monday to get the 17.3" screen info.

          Cheers
          Kris

        • Thanks, what does the N7 stand for, revision? I have a feeling 17.3" is LG LP173WF4-SPD1, but please let us know when you can :)

On the metabox drivers page I can only find mention of P650HP which I assume has the same drivers as P670HP or does Win10 automatically install them?
(in case of installing own SSD & OS as you suggested above)

Specs at bottom of your link integrated graphics mention 530 HD, which I believe should be 630 HD (fyi if it matters).

        • @Icy:
          Hi Icy,
The 17" screen info is -
          LG LP173WF4-SPD1
          You were correct.

I asked about the (N7) and no one seems to know what it means.

Yes the drivers for the P650HP are the same ones for the P670HP. It always best to download the latest drivers from the Metabox website.

Thanks for the pick-up on the 630HD on-board graphics. I'll inform Metabox to upgrade that info, so we can update ours too.

          Cheers
          Kris

  • What do you guys think? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Dell-Inspiron-15-7000-Gaming-Core… Comes down to 1575~ with the ebay discount or put 300ish down for this badboy? (which i dont mind putting extra towards)

    • This is solid specs laptop but there are some cons to it. The display is not that good and colors are kind of washed out. If you can compromise with the display it is good, but if you care about good display on a laptop then it is a poor choice. Hope it helps.

      • Cant decide between the 2 its killing me @_@

        • +1

Probably go for Metabox 500$ is worth it for 32Gb ram and 1060 graphics card.

        • @YousufEDGE: I was thinking of downgrading the 32 to 16 and adding 1tb drive? thoughts

        • @Tracy Grimshaw: Yes 16GB is more than enough for decent gaming. Still 16gb and 1tb HDD is good deal, don't forget to get 7200rpm hdd instead of standard 5400rpm.

    • wow , that a pretty good deal ,
https://youtu.be/qxwMlYMMSnI this was a great video where he ranks the dell as the best 1050 laptop , but it a $500 cheap then OP metabox.

  • when will we see a 1070 with i7 for 2000 grand delivered

    • Hey striker5950,
You can get close with the current EOFY sale here, $2190 if you take off the SSD and HDD ;)
      https://www.kongcomputers.com/product-detail/gamers/metabox-…

So yeah if you already have Windows 10 and have your own drives to put in, this is getting close.

      Kris

      • Hey Kris, do a deal :D

        • Hopefully we'll have something for everyone next month in June.
