I feel for those who dnot know about ebay and buy things from harvey Normans

    • +18

and buy from Harvey Normans without AMEX

    • -1

They buy things from Hardly Normal instead

    • +25

At least Harveys does not jack up RRP prices by 20% before a "sale" happens. LOL

      • +2

You don't know what's the RPP mean. Harveys is always selling at RRP or even HIGHER than RRP, which is much more than street price that the others selling at.

        • Source? :)

        • +6

          @bchliu: LIFE

        • -1

True RRP comes from the distributor/manufacturer, most retail stores will sell an item for under this price.
Generally a condition of sale to the store is that they will not sell an item ABOVE RRP, but are free to sell it for any price under that.

        • -2

@The Informer: Your LIFE traumas are too deep to help. Sorry..

        • +1

@manshrew: >Generally a condition of sale to the store is that they will not sell an item ABOVE RRP

That applies to hardly any products at all.

The RRP is a tool to manipulate customers sense of value in favour of the seller, it has nothing to do with "true" value of the product. It is only a tool for manipulation of value via the anchoring effect.

        • @bchliu:

Source: Quick search on internet in real LIFE.

        • +1

@virhlpool: Show me where Harveys actually sells higher than the RRP? I can almost guarantee you that this never happens unless in genuine error. It is actually their business model to sell at RRP, then for customers to go in and bargain them down with competition prices.

        • @manshrew: It would be an anti competitor behavior for manufacturers to dictate the selling price in any store whether it is above OR below their RECOMMENDED retail price.
          ACCC can punish those manufacturers.

        • -1

@berry580: Manufacturers/Distributors can absolutely set policies on product pricing. If they are a premium brand and get sold below a certain price it can damage the brand, or at least that's how they position it. Likewise they sometimes don't want to create unnecessary competition among stores selling their products as it gouges profits. There is no ACCC punishment for setting pricing policies on your products.

        • +2

@useruser: You are wrong. It's clearly stated on the ACCC Website: Imposing minimum resale prices

A supplier may recommend that resellers charge an appropriate price for particular goods or services but may not stop resellers charging or advertising below that price.

        • @trongy: Ok fair enough, I stand corrected.

    • -5

I feel sorry for people who buy tech on eBay :)

Dedicated Computer Stores are overwhelmingly better.

      • +1

that's a very general opinion. Built my pc via PCcasegear and Ebay sales for fairly cheap.

      • nah man, most components on eBay are much more cheaper…well, at least I think.

        • +12

Apart from the odd dollar less in an eBay 20% off I've found MSY reguarly noticeably cheaper. Plus the added benefit of picking up immediately without any more risk.

Cheapest 1080ti on ebay is $50 more for instance, and MSY's isn't even a Founders Edition either.

        • @scuderiarmani: Yep, ebay is an expensive place for PC components, apart from the lucky 20% off which may put you 10% ahead.

        • @Major Mess:
The irony, one comment of mine is heavily down voted, the next up voted.

Desirable components are in my experience always terribly priced. Great place to sell old shit though…

    • What's a dnot? Is it like a donut but with no u and the o switched around?

  • +1

    dell again..lol

    • +3

      Yeah I haven't seen a Good Guys 20% eBay sale in a while :(

      • There was 20% off in late March. I know because I bought a clothes dryer from them. Ended up getting upgraded for free to a dryer worth $500 more. But that's another story.

    • +18

I am not sure if TGG will still participate in these ebay sales. I hope they do, but things seem to have changed since they got bought over by JBhifi.

    • +10

TGG is owned by JB now. Good luck if they would even give you 10% off.

      • +8

To be fair, JB is still better than HN? :)

  • +4

Is this just an extension from ctek20%, seeing all the same supplier's.

  • What do we know about shopmonk?

    • +3

they have not sold a single item before

    • They are a bit overpriced even after discount!

      • +13

        $539 for Bose QC35 pre-discount. Ha.

        • +3

For reference, full retail price is $499.

        • +2

I get $549 from this link
But when you click on the item it shows $495.
          Obviously a shonky outfit

They changed it, just as I posted…..

        • @KentT:

Maybe they provide astranomically good service for that high price!!

        • @blibster: $495-20%= $396 decent price considering bose has international warranty.

        • +1

          @gjHarley: They have the QC25 for $339-20% = $271.20 Pretty good deal.

      • iPads about $5 cheaper than RRP AFTER discount…

  • +2

My friend just bought a geforce 1080 from futu, apparently they dropshipped from shopping express! =P

    • +13

From all reports on ozbargain they're the same company

      • -2

        Who are owned by Zapals

        • source regarding the zapals connection?

        • +1

          @furythree:
          http://www.shoppingsquare.com.au/about.php

"A division of Zapals Tech Corporation Pty Ltd (ABN: 50 617 844 149)"

        • +3

@nereus: thats shoppingsquare not shopping express

shoppingsquare has always been a hong kong owned semi drop shipping company
They started off as Apus and the variations of that name
          then grew and grew

        • @furythree:
          Oh my bad, misread
          Apologies everyone

        • @nereus: I don't think Zapals is the same as Zapal's Tech Corporation. Also the latter appears to have been registered with ASIC less than 3 months ago.

      • +5

I've never had an issue with either.

For those confused, Shopping square is the one to be weary of.

      • Oh. That explains a lot! Haha thanks for the clarification =)

    • You don't understand what dropshipping involves.

      • I'm pretty sure I do. The order was shipped directly from the supplier to the customer, not stocked by the vendor themselves.

  • +4
    • Yep as usual that's F*****

On the plus side there are far better monitors being released this year which I am awaiting

    • Still cheaper than buying it elsewhere… lowest I'm seeing on static ice is $1,375 without shipping, compared to $1,280 shipped from Futu through your link.

  • +30

LOL Iphone 7 128 from shopmonk $1399 … thats 170 more than Apples website … with 20% off its 1120 still that's a bit of high listing price loll

    • +1

yeah i wonder what their excuse is for listing it above RRP

      • +7

look im sure there are deals out there and got a bit annoyed with the listing prices .. so my negs a bit of a over-reaction.. but i dont know how you can justify 10-12% listing price which is higher than RRP .. makes no sense… i dont even know who this seller is.. is this grey stock? sent from where? no details on the listing or anything

        • +1

i shouldve clarified. i 100% agree with you

          see below comments

indian company, shipping grey imports from singapore, selling at above australian RRP

          what a joke

      • So you end up paying the same anyway.

  • +3

Is it worth asking if there is a good price on a 4k IPS monitor. Ideally I would like larger than 28"

    • Get a kogan monitor for 500 (it was when it was on presale). But yeh. it's 4k, 1.5ms and now is 600. but it was 500.

  • No cheap QC35s :( I'll forever be hunting that VideoPro deal.

    • I got mine from them during the floods for 334!!!

    • They come up every couple of months. Won't be waiting long for the next deal.

  • +47

I miss the days when 20% off actually meant something

    • +6

Ozbargainer for 6 years. Story checks out.

  • +21

Why do these deals even get posted anymore, all the retails just up their prices for the sales, its pointless.

    • +2

Honestly, I agree. I mainly posted it for the Dell sale as it seems to be fairly popular. Figured I'd put the other two in the title since they were included :)

  • +9

    Price inflation imminent?

    • +9

      More like pre-emptive increases.

  • Will I be able to get powerbuy discount on dell from ebay? Bring the cheap xps15 down to $1400 with cr and the discount

  • +5

Umbrella deal again, forecasting 400+ upvotes and not a single bargain.

  • Wow they do really hike up the prices, still have the Samsung S7 for $750+ only gets it down to $600. Not sure about Shopmonk as a seller either

  • +20

These jacked up 'sales' are highly illegal under consumer law.

    • +14

Yet no one does anything about it. We should really unite as consumers, provide evidence and complain to the ACCC.

      • +9

We're great at saying it should happen.

        • +1

FWIW I actually did report a few of them over the past year or so, maybe a few more would help. We need price history evidence though.

        • +2

@xrailgun: can't you use the sold history as an evidence

    • -3

No they're not. You don't have to use the coupon.

  • -3

    Here we go again!

  • +48

Samsung Galaxy S8 for $1,369 is $170 higher than full RRP.

    • +3

      This made my day haha

  • +7

I spotted shopmonk the other day.
They claimed to be an Ebay Preferred Seller or something stupid on their listings. I note that this has now been removed.
The about us etc doesnt work on their listings and they now state Singapore as their location.

    Example price: Bose QC35: $549.
RRP at Bose AU with AU warranty: $499

The inflated prices remain the same…The only new thing about this 20% offer is the seller..

  • +22

And the s8+ at $1549, which is $200 more than RRP. Disappointing really.

    • Wow.

I'd heard of grey imports being priced at AU RRP for these deals, but AU stock priced above RRP? That's a neg from me. And it's coming from Singapore too.

  • Shopmonk. Never heard of them before. Probably because they are new. All there items are shipped from Singapore. I'm guessing this mean non AU grey import model, no local warranty and must be shipped back to Singapore for warranty?

Agree about there overpriced items. Even with 20% discount. EG Bose Soundlink Mini 2 $329. Bose AU $249.

Also selling Blackberry. Does anybody actually buy those phones these days?

  • +13

Shopmonk seems very dodgy, they claim that they ship from singapore but they're actually an indian company registered in Dehli under a different name. I couldn't imagine the issues buyers will have if they try to claim warranty.

On their official website they list the iPhone 7 Plus 256gb for $1560 but on eBay it's $1729 before the discount. I'd stay away from them at all costs.

    • +13

I wouldn't even touch the bargepole

  • +6

The few Futu prices I looked at look fine.

Unfortunatley I bought an SSD on Sunday from them with a 5% off code. It's the same price today with 20% off!

    • +1

futu were in the last 20% off deal.

      • +1

        And the one before that

  • Futu always higher price than others.

    • +2

With 20% they're usually just a few dollars under the usually competitive prices. Which I always go, I'll get from them when not in impulse.

Though their QNAP TS-653A is about a $100+ cheaper than competitive prices, and fighting the urge not to buy.

      • Go Synology pal

        • The only benefit for Synology is their hybrid RAID and have no need of that software RAID.

    • Samsung EVO 850 500GB is the same price ($275) that it was on Sunday. On Sunday (with the 5% off code) it was the cheapest in Australia (when including delivery, based on looking at Static Ice). Still $275 today, but with 20% off.

      • link?
        any deals on 1tb?

    • FU too ;-)

  • +1

Information on Shopmonk's Samsung Galaxy S7:

"Samsung Galaxy S7 G930FD Dual Sim 4G 32gb Black . It is covered with one year shopmonk Australia warranty. It's not covered by Samsung Australia's warranty because it's an overseas model."

That model should have the LTE Band 28 (700MHz), anyone know if there's any issues flashing G903FD with a Telstra firmware so I could use Wi-fi calling?

    • +8

Please, do yourself a favour and avoid this seller altogether.

    • +6

One year Shopmonk Australia Warranty won't get you far given that they are not in Australia and your Paypal / Ebay protection will expire before that point.
      Resell value will be less.
      Your call :)

  • +10

    huge price hike

  • I am not bothered to click on the link because the sellers just mark up the price first before the discount, real discount of less than 5% is not enough to get me to buy on impulse.

  • +1

none of the 1080ti are value

  • can anyone recommend a 8gb ddr4 ram 2400 for my xps 15?

  • +5

Looked up a few components, eg corsair vengeance ram, was still cheaper at msy even after 20% off.

    • hey im after some ram, do you have any recommendations? after 16gb

      • HyperX Fury 2400MHz 2x 8GB Kit

      • +1

What's your current build? I'd advise higher speed than 2400 if your rig is capable.

        • building a new PC for a friend

former laptop gamer converting to a desktop

got a decent budget of 2-3k, so he would be looking for mid to top of the range

        • @furythree:

decent budget of 2-3k, so he would be looking for mid to top of the range

$2,000 AUD is actually more than enough for a top end gaming rig these days.

That will get you the fastest i5, GTX 1080, 16GB RAM, SSD, name brand case and PSU, and everything.

Beyond that you're better off spending the money on something else (VR headset? Massive monitor? 120" projector?) than i7s, 1200W PSUs, water coolers and other frippery.

        • Which will get you almost no increase in FPS

        • +1

          @zhuang281:
It will allow a better overclock = more fps.
Edit: thought you were referring to the blower gpu.
Btw, higher speed ram definitely helps with fps. Not massively but definitely noticeable. Also higher ram seed provides other benefits to fps…

        • @zhuang281 Faster memory may not improve average FPS much, but can assist with minimum FPS which is far more aggravating.

@SLYJD Plus lower latency is equally desirable as higher clock speeds.

Also worth noting that unless you plan on overclocking the RAM (in the BIOS or with motherboard software), you won't see any benefits anyway. /me running DDR4-3200.

  • +20

Retailers that increase prices to take advantage of a sales based promotion should be held accountable. No offence OP but negative vote from me.

    • +13

      None taken, I agree.

    • +5

Agreed - would definitely call this a promotion and not a sale.

      • +6

Futu seems to be Ebay's new poster child being included in all the fake sales.

No offense OP but neg from me, i wouldn't buy from Futu if they were the last seller on Ebay.

        • +4

I just upgraded my computer using parts from Futu via the last 20% off sale, prices for each part after factoring in the 20% but before Cashrewards was better than any search on Static Ice for the parts I was looking for. And they include shipping, which most places on Static Ice don't.

          Still a deal.

But not upvoting because of Shopmonk.

        • +1

          @Sike O:
Im the same. Bought from Futu last sale a few weeks ago. Best price i could get. Had the item in 3 days. No issues at all.

  • +8

    Beware the Shopping Monkeys.

  • +3

Wow, sounds like it's a disgrace for eBay to involve Shopmonk in this sale. Definitely deserve another neg.

  • +6

First neg from me due to the inclusion of this dodgy seller shopmonk. i couldn't believe this seller with zero feedback want to sell grey imports with a higher price than Australian price!!

  • +2

Before discount, the few things I looked at were more expensive that RRP!

  • +2

No thanks..As we all know eBay sellers tend to hike their prices up when the 20% happen and looking through the comments it seems like that's happening.

  • +6

Negging shopmonk for above RRP prices - they should be banned from OzB

  • +4

Lets jack up prices 25%, then discount 20%… No thanks…

  • +2

i monitored last tech sales prices b4 the hike up. and most of them hiked up the cart store wide 15-20%. negging cause im sick of these sales

  • -1

gtx 1080TI $1040 seems to be a good deal

  • +14

I feed off seeing eBay posts getting negged. Every day is a day closer to Amazon wiping their ass with eBay.

    • +6

Bring on Amazon. It's time to put those greedy eBay sellers out of business.

  • +7

I rather pay RRP than these monkeys

    • +1

You get a bargain, you pay above rrp…

  • +7

Deserves a neg for jacking prices as usual. In the end ebay and these shops pays when amazon comes in.

  • +4

    Jacked prices

  • +4

    The price makes a nonsense

  • +4

Yeah all red drives more expensive then umart after discount.

    • WD60EFRX from Futu Online, delivered $326.40
WD60EFRX from Umart, $345 plus delivery

or is my calculator not working?

  • +4

These 20% deals need to GTFO of this site as sellers jack prices

  • +3

    This is ridiculous

  • +10

These deals really show that some users on here vote without checking if there are any bargains.

    • +1

I up voted once I saw this deal. Dell are decent as always.

      • The individual deals should be upvoted, not the blanket '20%' off.

        • -1

Then how would OzBargainers now about the major deal? Where would the incentive to hunt for deals come from?

        • +1

@sween64: maybe there could be a separate page storewide discounts and then only the good deals from those stores make it to the front page.

I haven't really thought this through but there must be a better way.

  • +2

    Another scam ?

  • +6

Above RRP is a new low…

  • +7

Am I reading too much into this or does FUTU stand for F-U-too …. in regards to their pricing strategy?

  • Deals are way too jacked up over retail. The 1060 strix isnt too bad at $360 though ($430 at msy).

The stores need to be held accountable for their actions - perhaps have the prices locked in from 7 days prior to a promotion.

  • Just bought my I pad air from Shop monk. Thanks Ozbargain

    • +3

      you must be trolling right?

        • -1

          @doweyy:

Thanks, that eBay sellers' feedback indicates some v unhappy campers as the seller seems to be based overseas

        • @myocum:

Oh yeah my bad, I just saw the pos feedback and thought it was decent. That's insanely misleading that they advertise AU stock.

      • Not aust. stock.

  • ? mean I should not buy from them

  • Laptop choice help please!

These prices are making it a very good time for me to buy a notebook. My current one is a 6 year old i7, 8gb, 256GB SSD. It's a Dell inspiron 15r (15.6") - which I plug into an external monitor and fundamentally use it as if it were a desktop PC but have the luxury of portability should I require it.

I use it mainly for work - MS Office - but also for watching video, multiple youtubes, streaming sites etc. Recently my Dell had an issue with the graphics card and the repairer disabled the graphics card so it now uses internal graphics card only, which creates some lag (not a major thing) but importantly I can't plug it into an external monitor any more. I don't really want to go down the external graphics card route as I don't want anything overly technical or expensive. I bought a $12 external graphics card thing off ebay and that didn't work, which I thought was likely.

I am a gamer, but I have a PS4 and would just play last gen (PS3 era) games on the notebook, if any at all, so having a good graphics card is good but not a necessity.

I've looked at a few of the Dells for around the $1000 mark. I think this one is the best?

Can anyone suggest another one. I couldn't find one with 256 or higher SSD which i'd prefer over 1TB HDD I think if it was roughly the same price

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Dell-Inspiron-15-5000-Laptop-Core…

  • +2

Even with the %20 it's still expensive than everywhere else. Neg vote for that. No hard feelings OP.

  • +1

    Stay away from this seller.

  • For those waiting on Logitech Harmony Elite deal Futu have a good price with 20% off (sub $300). JB put up their price to $449 (from $399), and when I checked I couldn't find it online anymore on JB website. So Futu with this sale might be the cheapest right now. Who knows if $199 deal will be back…

  • +5

Futu really should have their own post. Their prices are usually good.

  • +1

Price jacking as per usual. Thanks ebay!

  • +2

These sales are ridiculous. eBay just appears to use these as a way to hand some commission back to big retailers. I feel like the smaller sellers then end up subsidising these established guys.

  • +1

false advertising should not be encouraged

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/306269

    • -1

While I agree about Futu, do Dell jack up prices? I haven't noticed it in the past but I'm not sure.

  • +2

The threat of Amazon is making eBay go wild with these codes. Stores are jacking up the prices and really no one is benefiting.
    Disappointing!

  • +1

    Jacked prices, no bargains. Neg.

  • +1

    Futu Price gone up !!!!!!!!!!!

  • +2

Will this be the first eBay deal (that I know of) negged out of existence on OzBargain?

    • +2

Hopefully it continues with further deals if they keep this up. If the posts aren't negged, those unfamiliar with the price jacking will but thinking it's a bargain.

    • +8

      Yeah, I'm getting destroyed lol.

      • +9

Props for posting it. It's definitely worth posting. Creates good discussion.

      • Looks like it will probably survive, I think you might have a winner for the most negged deal though, I think that's more impressive than just a deal that just gets 100ish upvotes.

        • +2

          Lol! Guess that's a win then :)

      • +2

No the deal is being destroyed.

We love you, and want to give you a group hug which is pretty hard to do online, but we're a little bit sick of the eBay price jacks just before and during these deals.

        • I'm in for a virtual group hug ;)

In all seriousness though, I should've had a look before posting. I had no idea who Shopmonk was and also didn't check everyone's prices but I was in a rush and literally had 5 minutes so I quickly posted it haha. I know for next time :)

        • +1

My view is always post, and let the voting buttons do their work.

  • +2

    Inb4 price hi… Nvm

  • I thought "Boourns" was an appropriate reason to neg. Well, the price hikes and listings above RRP definitely is!

  • +2

I am now convinced the price jacking is real. No deal.

  • shopmonk_australia (0 )

    ZERO feedback, what a joke..!?!

  • +2

Case #1 $200 over the RRP
Case #2 $170 over the RRP
Case #3 min 12% jacked up price
Case #4 works out to be normal retail
Case #5 a meagre $10 discount and any probs that comes with some unproven sellers

    thats easy andrew…

    NO DEAL!

  • +3

This is why only posts which lists actual bargains should be allowed. Posting a 20% off code is a store promotion not a bargain.

  • Wow, thought Futu was better than this

  • +7

Not this again… why aren't ozbargain doing something about this? Why bother advertising this kind of click bait RRP, dodgey marketing RRP type promotions. I remember back in the day OzBargain was where you got BARGAINS. Is a bargain saving 5% off RRP? If it is to you, you're not a true ozbargainer.

These kind of dodgey type sales waste ppls time. Go post these kind of bargains elsewhere. Like whirlpool or something? Bargains should be types where you save MINIMUM 10-20% off RRP on the vast MAJORITY of products if its a store wide type deal or a minimum 20-30% for 1 product type deals. Then you won't have muppets putting the price of a USB stick down by 70% as a loss leader but then advertising "Up to 70% off". Sickening.

    • why aren't ozbargain doing something about this?

Because there are sometimes 1 or 2 good deals in there.

  • +1

from my personal and painful experience, and the hundreds of google reviews… whoever you buy from, I'd suggest you ask them not to use fastway couriers.
this is especially true for futu, since they use them a lot.

  • +1

    not worth

  • +2

    So expensive!!

  • +1

They surely do not know the real meaning of RRP (Recommended Retail Price). Or thinking that "Recommended" can be ignored

  • Anyone know of a good NBN compatible modem with this deal?
I was looking to buy the Netgear Nighthawk D7000, but it doesn't look to be compatible on their website.

    • Don't bother. I had about 10 saved on my list waiting for a sale like this, and all of them from futu got prices jacked the day before the sale…

  • +2

Its a shame really. It means that there isn't enough margin in the products to make any money. Hence the price increases.

I can comment on this specifically as we were apart of the last promotion. At 20% "OFF" eBay covered 5% and we had to ware the 15%. Lets not forget too that eBay/ PayPal still collect their standard fee's which is an average of 6.5% combined. So with 21.5% in fee's and free postage. There just isn't enough margin in tech products, in a highly competitive market space. Once you add a few missing items, issues with customers, damaged in transit goods, you make bugger all of nothing.

Not only that, it seems that because the promotions are happening so regularly, when a promotion isn't on, regular traffic really dies off.

    • Did you opt in to the promotion?

      • Yes we did.

When you go from daily sales of $$ too $$$$$$$$$$$, the promotions do work.

        • Can you tell eBay to go (profanity) themselves for me?

        • until the whole deal collapses because the general public wise up to the pump and dump routine

  • +1

this is ashame to those sellers marking up this price. And no way ebay doesn't know about it.

    • +1

the more they sell it for the more commission for ebay .. :)

  • Commenting about the ridiculous reps just to neg

  • +1

Wow.. laptop ram over 9000!!!! No deals..

  • +2

It's a shame to see what ebay has become. 15 years ago almost everything I bought online was on ebay and the prices were the best you could find in Australia for most things. Now you can't find a bargain even with 20% off.

    • +1

You're over exaggerating. Still plenty of bargains to be found on ebay.

    • +1

Hand in your ozbargain badge if you can't find a bargain on eBay. Bargains to be had every day even without discount codes for those of us who don't expect bargains to just fall out of the sky into our laps.

  • +1

Pure bait and switch bulldust from eBay these days. 20% sales are largely a bad joke now,
Bring on Amazon, I'm over these eBay clowns.

  • +1

This has gotten beyond stupid and is now just false advertising. I don't normally neg these deals but this one has gone way too far.

  • Why dont they stop jacking prices and just change it to 5% off.
Jacking prices up and saying 20% off pisses people off.

  • please dont revoke negative votes

The deal is not the cheapest available
    Defective product
    Major issues with retailer

  • +2

Guys lets do something about the price jacking -> misleading customers… We must hold them accountable especially so for Australian based stores.

    What can be done?

  • +1

Let's face it, OzBargain does not care about deals anymore. These types of post violate the posting terms, but still get spammed…

  • +1

    Disgusting

  • +7

Safe to say the OzBargain tide has turned on these fake 20 % off eBay sales now.
Ebay are failing to protect their reputation and brand by routinely allowing their sellers to pump up their prices and then offer a discount off the new fake "only at sale time" prices, often much more than RRP or any normal B& M store. no doubt they all dump their prices back down to normal eBay market levels once the promotion ends.
Its just a farce now and eBay are taking us for mugs. The inclusion of some dodge-o-rama new seller called "shopmonk_australia (0)" with a feedback of precisely 0 into this promoted eBay sale, speaks of back room deals being done and general shonkiness.

  • +1

I think eBay should be held accountable for this and not Futu, et al. It's against Australian consumer law to list as a sale price when the original price was never actually used. The supermarkets were taken to the cleaners by the ACCC. Now it should be eBay's turn. They could easily stop this by enforcing ethical listing practices.

P.S. I'm not associated with eBay. I listed a deal on there once. Apparently this prevents me from down-voting this deal.
    Mod: Fixed association.

  • +1

Just got a Samsung 500gb nvme for less than ple locally at $296. Still cheaper overall. There's some deals out there…

    • Ryzen 1700 is $400 after discount from Futu.

ranges from $425 to $490 on staticice + shipping (~$15 depending on store).

  • +1

So surprise to see the amount of neg votes, but totally agreed with what being said here. Bear in mind though, that eBay is only a platform for seller to list their products, if everyone stop buying from these fake 20% off, sooner or later they will stop doing it.

Best to vote with our wallet, and buy from those who genuinely honour the 20% sale.

  • SO MANY NEGS

  • +2

Personally speaking they are still decent deals out there. Not the best deal historically but if you needed something now, some deals are still decent.

For example I needed a micro sd card. I got a Samsung 128gb evo which at jbhifi is selling for $154. You can buy it for $60 after 20% discount. Not the cheapest by ozbargain history standards but I still get to save money right now since I couldn't wait

    http://m.ebay.com.au/itm/Samsung-128GB-Evo-Micro-SD-Card-SDX…

    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/cameras/samsung/samsung-microsdxc-…

MSY doesn't have it on stock at the moment.

    • Also purchased another and a Dell laptop.
      Saved $95 :)

  • +2

blah futu online isn't worth a look these days even with 20% off.

  • +1

The "ACCC" is investigating. We should see the end of this drivel from Ebay. Very bad form indeed.

    • ACCC is all bark and no bite.

  • Ebay and all their associated corrupt retailers can blow a goat.

  • Rigged sale

  • Useless sale

  • +2

Can't find anything "cheap", so no buy. Neg on their deal, not on you OP. But thanks for your effort anyway.

    • +2

      No worries :)

  • Most electronics are cheaper at MSY

    • +1

Yes, and there's even a chance they'll treat us with marginally more respect than eBay.

  • Prices are inflated, can't see any bargains here.

  • wow talk about jacked up prices…

    samsung 850 evo 250gb ssd sata3
    from this lot $175
just a quick search from another seller $148

  • Just saw this deal from another post referring back to this one. Thought, great! Got a heap of routers and phones saved up from heaps of different eBay sellers. I thought, at least one of these sellers will be in the next tech sale. All of the prices were within $5 of each other. Went to my eBay wish list and had a router saved that was being sold by futu and it's about $50 more expensive. Price was updated a day before the sale…

For the mods: negging this deal due to the questionable price rises pre-sale. This is shady and most probably illegal.

  • Negging due to higher than rrp prices

  • Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me!

  • Jacking up the price. Talk about misleading advertising…

I said it before and I'll say it again, these posts should be banned to discourage these dodgy practices.

Well at least people are coming to the realisation.

Time to find a new website as OzBargain hits mainstream…

  • +1

Down voting due to inclusion of Shopmonk

    • +1

Based in Australia, shopmonk_australia has been an eBay member since 28 Feb, 2017

Not only is the account only a few months old. They have had no activity during those few months. I would avoid for obvious reasons.

  • increase in price, any real deals?

  • Negging due to price increases before sale

  • And just to annoy me more i received an email from ebay today letting me know that the item i was watching from shoppingsquare has now been drop by 15%

original title on item from shoppingsquare had use CMUM20 for 20% off which has now expired.

So they replaced title now with use C5OZ for 5% off.

  • Honestly surprised a mod hasn't commented on this yet.

    • Mods can't delete the post because someone else who hasn't seen this one will repost it and it'll all start again. Which is fair enough.

      • +1

I don't want them to delete it. Just want to see them weigh in. Should we expected every bs eBay deal from here out to get negged to oblivion?

        • Well at the end of the day that's why the neg button is there. Obviously in this case it wasn't a deal, hence the negs (as I've said I should've done some research prior to posting). That's not to say every eBay deal after will be negged, there is genuine sellers on there.

  • +1

    Negging due to price hike

  • shopmonk_australia has 0 feedback.

    Just saying.

  • Something needs to be done regarding price hikes. ACCC come in!
    Neg due to price hikes

  • Neg vote for fake sale ( s8 for example)

  • I don't know why people up vote automatically as soon as they read "%" SALE!

This is becoming a con by ebay and sellers!

  • +1

Thanks, order WD NAS hdd. It was cheapest with 20% code.

    • Which unit did you get?

      • +1

i got WD 3TB NAS hdd for $151.20. The cheapest on StaticIce was $159 from MSY in ACT. Others were including postage.

        • Sorry, I thought you meant a NAS unit. I misread your post. I'm looking at a NAS for backup and pseudo media server.

  • +5

So now ShopMonk have added 11 fake feedback ..

    http://feedback.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&u…

They sold 11 pairs of "basic" headphones yesterday and amazingly all customers have received them and left feedback within 1 day. (the headphone image is actually Bose).

Seriously fast shipping from Singapore :D

    What a joke.

    • +3

Thats fraud - dont ebay have rules about feedback manipulation?…and eBay is promoting these grubs?
      Amazing

  • +1

Woot! Found something that wasn't jacked. Harmony ultimate remote. Last one just died. Actually was 20% less than staticice
