        And the one before that

  • Futu always higher price than others.

    • +2

With 20% they're usually just a few dollars under the usually competitive prices. Which I always go, I'll get from them when not in impulse.

Though their QNAP TS-653A is about a $100+ cheaper than competitive prices, and fighting the urge not to buy.

      • Go Synology pal

        • The only benefit for Synology is their hybrid RAID and have no need of that software RAID.

    • Samsung EVO 850 500GB is the same price ($275) that it was on Sunday. On Sunday (with the 5% off code) it was the cheapest in Australia (when including delivery, based on looking at Static Ice). Still $275 today, but with 20% off.

      • link?
        any deals on 1tb?

    • FU too ;-)

Information on Shopmonk's Samsung Galaxy S7:

"Samsung Galaxy S7 G930FD Dual Sim 4G 32gb Black . It is covered with one year shopmonk Australia warranty. It's not covered by Samsung Australia's warranty because it's an overseas model."

That model should have the LTE Band 28 (700MHz), anyone know if there's any issues flashing G903FD with a Telstra firmware so I could use Wi-fi calling?

    • +8

Please, do yourself a favour and avoid this seller altogether.

    • +6

One year Shopmonk Australia Warranty won't get you far given that they are not in Australia and your Paypal / Ebay protection will expire before that point.
      Resell value will be less.
      Your call :)

    huge price hike

  • I am not bothered to click on the link because the sellers just mark up the price first before the discount, real discount of less than 5% is not enough to get me to buy on impulse.

  • +1

none of the 1080ti are value

  • can anyone recommend a 8gb ddr4 ram 2400 for my xps 15?

  • +5

Looked up a few components, eg corsair vengeance ram, was still cheaper at msy even after 20% off.

    • hey im after some ram, do you have any recommendations? after 16gb

      • HyperX Fury 2400MHz 2x 8GB Kit

      • +1

What's your current build? I'd advise higher speed than 2400 if your rig is capable.

got a decent budget of 2-3k, so he would be looking for mid to top of the range

Try the whirlpool forums if you're unsure of your build. They froth recommendations over there. Plus, there's 5-10 posts a day for builds - one of which will be similar to your requirements.

$2,000 AUD is actually more than enough for a top end gaming rig these days.

That will get you the fastest i5, GTX 1080, 16GB RAM, SSD, name brand case and PSU, and everything.

Beyond that you're better off spending the money on something else (VR headset? Massive monitor? 120" projector?) than i7s, 1200W PSUs, water coolers and other frippery.

        • Which will get you almost no increase in FPS

        • +1

          @zhuang281:
It will allow a better overclock = more fps.
Edit: thought you were referring to the blower gpu.
Btw, higher speed ram definitely helps with fps. Not massively but definitely noticeable. Also higher ram seed provides other benefits to fps…

        • @zhuang281 Faster memory may not improve average FPS much, but can assist with minimum FPS which is far more aggravating.

@SLYJD Plus lower latency is equally desirable as higher clock speeds.

Also worth noting that unless you plan on overclocking the RAM (in the BIOS or with motherboard software), you won't see any benefits anyway. /me running DDR4-3200.

Retailers that increase prices to take advantage of a sales based promotion should be held accountable. No offence OP but negative vote from me.

    • +13

      None taken, I agree.

    • +5

Agreed - would definitely call this a promotion and not a sale.

      • +6

Futu seems to be Ebay's new poster child being included in all the fake sales.

No offense OP but neg from me, i wouldn't buy from Futu if they were the last seller on Ebay.

        • +4

I just upgraded my computer using parts from Futu via the last 20% off sale, prices for each part after factoring in the 20% but before Cashrewards was better than any search on Static Ice for the parts I was looking for. And they include shipping, which most places on Static Ice don't.

          Still a deal.

But not upvoting because of Shopmonk.

        • +1

          @Sike O:
Im the same. Bought from Futu last sale a few weeks ago. Best price i could get. Had the item in 3 days. No issues at all.

  • +8

    Beware the Shopping Monkeys.

  • +3

Wow, sounds like it's a disgrace for eBay to involve Shopmonk in this sale. Definitely deserve another neg.

  • +6

First neg from me due to the inclusion of this dodgy seller shopmonk. i couldn't believe this seller with zero feedback want to sell grey imports with a higher price than Australian price!!

  • +2

Before discount, the few things I looked at were more expensive that RRP!

  • +2

No thanks..As we all know eBay sellers tend to hike their prices up when the 20% happen and looking through the comments it seems like that's happening.

  • +6

Negging shopmonk for above RRP prices - they should be banned from OzB

  • +4

Lets jack up prices 25%, then discount 20%… No thanks…

  • +2

i monitored last tech sales prices b4 the hike up. and most of them hiked up the cart store wide 15-20%. negging cause im sick of these sales

  • -1

gtx 1080TI $1040 seems to be a good deal

  • +14

I feed off seeing eBay posts getting negged. Every day is a day closer to Amazon wiping their ass with eBay.

    • +6

Bring on Amazon. It's time to put those greedy eBay sellers out of business.

  • +7

I rather pay RRP than these monkeys

    • +1

You get a bargain, you pay above rrp…

  • +7

Deserves a neg for jacking prices as usual. In the end ebay and these shops pays when amazon comes in.

  • +4

    Jacked prices

  • +4

    The price makes a nonsense

  • +4

Yeah all red drives more expensive then umart after discount.

    • WD60EFRX from Futu Online, delivered $326.40
WD60EFRX from Umart, $345 plus delivery

or is my calculator not working?

  • +4

These 20% deals need to GTFO of this site as sellers jack prices

  • +3

    This is ridiculous

  • +10

These deals really show that some users on here vote without checking if there are any bargains.

    • +1

I up voted once I saw this deal. Dell are decent as always.

      • The individual deals should be upvoted, not the blanket '20%' off.

        • -1

Then how would OzBargainers now about the major deal? Where would the incentive to hunt for deals come from?

        • +1

@sween64: maybe there could be a separate page storewide discounts and then only the good deals from those stores make it to the front page.

I haven't really thought this through but there must be a better way.

  • +2

    Another scam ?

  • +6

Above RRP is a new low…

  • +7

Am I reading too much into this or does FUTU stand for F-U-too …. in regards to their pricing strategy?

  • Deals are way too jacked up over retail. The 1060 strix isnt too bad at $360 though ($430 at msy).

The stores need to be held accountable for their actions - perhaps have the prices locked in from 7 days prior to a promotion.

  • Just bought my I pad air from Shop monk. Thanks Ozbargain

    • +3

      you must be trolling right?

      • ? mean I should not buy from them

        • +1

nah keep your ipad air, close your ozb account and go live on a farm with other sheep

        • +2

Good luck if you try to claim TRS

  • +3

    The price hike is real.

  • -1

If all of you negative nancy's want to let me know where I can buy a Samsung Galaxy S7 in Australia (with Band 28 on board), at a reasonable price, ie less than 631.20$ I'm all ears :)

    • +1

Do you mean S7 edge? You can get the S7 with B28 for $551.95 Aus Stock Here or the S7 Edge B28 Aus Stock for $635.55 Here using C5OZ.

      • -2

Thanks, do I look like someone that would use a gold phone LOL. I'm after just the S7 std unit, but in black.

        • +1

Here you go then, Black for $596.60

        • -1

          @doweyy:

Thanks, that eBay sellers' feedback indicates some v unhappy campers as the seller seems to be based overseas

        • @myocum:

Oh yeah my bad, I just saw the pos feedback and thought it was decent. That's insanely misleading that they advertise AU stock.

      • Not aust. stock.

  • ? mean I should not buy from them

  • Laptop choice help please!

These prices are making it a very good time for me to buy a notebook. My current one is a 6 year old i7, 8gb, 256GB SSD. It's a Dell inspiron 15r (15.6") - which I plug into an external monitor and fundamentally use it as if it were a desktop PC but have the luxury of portability should I require it.

I use it mainly for work - MS Office - but also for watching video, multiple youtubes, streaming sites etc. Recently my Dell had an issue with the graphics card and the repairer disabled the graphics card so it now uses internal graphics card only, which creates some lag (not a major thing) but importantly I can't plug it into an external monitor any more. I don't really want to go down the external graphics card route as I don't want anything overly technical or expensive. I bought a $12 external graphics card thing off ebay and that didn't work, which I thought was likely.

I am a gamer, but I have a PS4 and would just play last gen (PS3 era) games on the notebook, if any at all, so having a good graphics card is good but not a necessity.

I've looked at a few of the Dells for around the $1000 mark. I think this one is the best?

Can anyone suggest another one. I couldn't find one with 256 or higher SSD which i'd prefer over 1TB HDD I think if it was roughly the same price

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Dell-Inspiron-15-5000-Laptop-Core…

  • +2

Even with the %20 it's still expensive than everywhere else. Neg vote for that. No hard feelings OP.

  • +1

    Stay away from this seller.

  • For those waiting on Logitech Harmony Elite deal Futu have a good price with 20% off (sub $300). JB put up their price to $449 (from $399), and when I checked I couldn't find it online anymore on JB website. So Futu with this sale might be the cheapest right now. Who knows if $199 deal will be back…

  • +5

Futu really should have their own post. Their prices are usually good.

  • +1

Price jacking as per usual. Thanks ebay!

  • +2

These sales are ridiculous. eBay just appears to use these as a way to hand some commission back to big retailers. I feel like the smaller sellers then end up subsidising these established guys.

  • +1

false advertising should not be encouraged

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/306269

    • -1

While I agree about Futu, do Dell jack up prices? I haven't noticed it in the past but I'm not sure.

  • +2

The threat of Amazon is making eBay go wild with these codes. Stores are jacking up the prices and really no one is benefiting.
    Disappointing!

  • +1

    Jacked prices, no bargains. Neg.

  • +1

    Futu Price gone up !!!!!!!!!!!

  • +2

Will this be the first eBay deal (that I know of) negged out of existence on OzBargain?

    • +2

Hopefully it continues with further deals if they keep this up. If the posts aren't negged, those unfamiliar with the price jacking will but thinking it's a bargain.

    • +8

      Yeah, I'm getting destroyed lol.

      • +9

Props for posting it. It's definitely worth posting. Creates good discussion.

      • Looks like it will probably survive, I think you might have a winner for the most negged deal though, I think that's more impressive than just a deal that just gets 100ish upvotes.

        • +2

          Lol! Guess that's a win then :)

      • +2

No the deal is being destroyed.

We love you, and want to give you a group hug which is pretty hard to do online, but we're a little bit sick of the eBay price jacks just before and during these deals.
