    • How does that compare to the usual Samsung/LG panels

    • +3

At least they are up front about it, try getting that info from Samsung or Sonly. I had a Chinese TV with an AUO panel and found it great* especially with sports compared to the incredibly juddery washed out Samsung TV I replaced it with which I discovered uses a low grade Chimei panel. My only fear with the kogan is that bending the LCD could cause issues later on, perhaps I'm misguided.
*only caveat was the viewing angle which was below average.

  • Interesting… the manual only has HDMI input going up to 1080P although HDCP2.2 is listed in the specs…

  • +1

I think it's good deal + free shipping, thanks op.

Does this curved panel need the special wall mounted brackets?

    • +3

No, it uses "VESA Wall Mount Pattern 300mm x 300mm".

      • Many thanks!

  • I wonder whether this "Someone in XXX just bought a XXX" is true or just a motivational trick?

    • +4

      100% its BS

    • unbearable?

    • +4

I wonder whether this "Someone in XXX just bought a XXX" is true or just a motivational trick?

we purchased two items and the ticker came up stating the the items and suburb.

    • +1

Why would it be any trickery? Kogan has a big web presence so it is quite possible they are selling those things.

Whether it is a good practice or not is personal opinion. They've chosen to feature it so I'd imagine it raises sales. I'm assuming they'd defend themselves by saying it is anonymised data and that no user data was compromised.

    • "Someone in XXX just bought a XXX" is true or just a motivational trick?

It's true, I've been on heaps of online porn shops where XXX has bought XXX.

Hey OP, any chances to have free shipping for all goods in near future?

    • +13

OP isn't a rep for kogan

    • How would he know? You'd have a better chance asking your preferred deity.

    • +4

      sorry, my mistake :(
      thought he's "associated"

      • +1

You should see my mistakes, boy are some a doozy :D.

Yeah, I wish Kogan did have free shipping, it'd be great.

  • how is this compared to the sony one that was posted? The X8000D 49 inch

    • +2

I'd go Sony. It's Sony not a reject panel re-branded and sold.

      • I have sony bravia and doesn't play mh 2TB western digital usb external drive :(

        • doesnt it have to be formatted to fat32?

        • +1

Consider using Plex and a Chromecast to play those "Linux ISOs" instead. Much less painful.

Great first time post op and welcome to Ozbargain :D

      Thank you :)

  • do you guys think this is better than the also deal?

    • I too am looking for a TV and wondering if Aldi has a better TV than Kogan.

No clue….because i have never seen one in action….

anyone have real review to give…
also if you look at this link

      https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-series-9-55inch-mu9000-ag…

Under the title of the tv it states
"Built with a superb LG panel"

No such luck with the curved one…and so much cheaper

      • +1

The benefit of Aldi would be far better warranty support.

        • do you mean the 60 return policy? or the general warranty?

        • @iperezgenius: Return and the general warranty. Have bought a number of items from aldi, things for the kids, power tools, etc, and have had no issues returning or exchanging products on the couple of occasions that there were issues. The same can't be said for Kogan.

  • VA or IPS?

  • Any other opinions? Trying to decide whether or not to buy - looking for a cheap tv for watching sport and some gaming.

    • +3

      Be careful of input lag.

    • +1

Non-4K content generally looks better on 1080p TVs. I'm not sure if there are any cheap curved 1080p TVs though

      • Okay. Thanks mate. I may hold out than.
        Is curved really worth it?

        • +2

at this price, it's worth it.

      • Non-4K video will look generally look the same on high end 4K TVs and worse on cheaper ones due to the quality of the scalers. Non-4K gaming can actually look better on a 4K TV due to the upscaling having an anti-aliasing effect.

  • Not sure if this has HDR. The 65" Kogan curved tv doesn't…

    https://www.gizmodo.com.au/2017/04/kogan-will-sell-you-a-65-…

    Smart TV function sounds unreliable…

    http://www.productreview.com.au/p/kogan-55-agora-4k-smart-3d…

I couldn't find any intel on input lag. But in any case, pass.

    Review
    https://www.goodgearguide.com.au/review/kogan/curved-4k-55-i…

Note the review is based on the RRP.

  • It's similar to buying a Chinese car like Chery, Geely, Great wall etc. On paper, they have specs extremely close to Corolla, Rav4, hilux: 4 wheels, steering wheel, abs, same engine volume, HP and so on, but in reality, you can easily recognize when you see it, even on street.

My opinion, I wouldnt buy this TV even for $200.

    • i agree

you get what you pay for ( there is a limit of course)

there is a reason why samsung still sells last years KS8000 55inch tv for over $2000

  • +3

I find it cheaper on their Ebay site with 5% off code.

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/172524137675

    • What code is this?

EDIT: Nevermind, just the updated edit on OP. Cheers!

      • yea, I edited it.
