    baytrail z3735g

probably not that well received here given this is generations old

  • -1

Yes baytrail Z3735g release q1 2014. But does kid or student need anything more?

    • +9

      Yes, they do.

      • Correct. This processor is laggy as fark. Anyone that says otherwise obviously hasn't used one

Can't agree more with the comments.
I also call bullshit on the RRP.
When you see the name Pendo run in the opposite direction.

          This certainly isn't a deal.

        • @darmz:

Isn't that a Dodo group brand?

    • Absolutely they do!

Doesn't even come close to the education departments minimum for BYO device in a School.

2GB of RAM will prove challenging for productivity. The 32GB of storage will give further challenges as many applications won't allow external storage to be used, eg Dropbox. Windows update, a few applications and system restore will also make you notice the limitations of the internal storage capacity.

  • Only reviews I can find give it one star..

I have 3 kids at school (2 at high school) and most of their use and storage is online.
For a BYOD laptop that is going to get knocked around it is a good entry level one.

    • Private school?
I configure hundreds of BYO devices; this doesn't meet the usual minimum.

If this DOES meet it for your kids,
      What state are you in?

        Denial ?

        • Zing!

        • HarHar.

I'm actually curious! because AFAIK, this doesnt meet Education QLD, nor NSW specs.
          Maybe hes in WA?

  • Hmmmm what does a Pendo?

    • +1

      something something pineapple.

I reely thunk dis pin is speeshall bru. Dis pin wriyets bickwards whail speening around.

    • I think it's a Spanish word, as far as I can tell. But it's missing a couple of letters. Think they mean pendejo Pad ?

I currently have a different brand laptop with windows 10 and with 32gb ssd and can't reveive the anniversary update because it requires 16gb of free space. I would avoid any windows 10 device with less than 64gb.

    • same here.

    • You can force it to update. Just have to free as much as space as you can (I think around 10GB should be plenty), then go to https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10?… and download the Update Assistant

It'll take some time to update (i.e. a horrifyingly long time depending on your hardware) but once it's complete you should then run Disk Cleanup to clean up the leftover files and Windows.old directory.

  • half the price from the current sale and ill buy one.

Sounds like a James Bond Film title!

        • It is, was released just after Goldfinger

32gb notebooks running windows 10 is a terrible experience.
Even if you delete the recovery partition and resize you're rarely left enough space for a windows update (major one anyone).

While the baytrail/2gb/32gb was good initially, it's very much outdated now and it's sort of disturbing to still see that spec on sale at jbhifi as "entry level".

Really need 4gb/64gb as absolute minimum even for light activity

    Pendont.

    • Well played Sir

I strongly urge anyone to not buy a Pendo. Bought two of their devices one a Windows 8.1 tablet and a Transformer style tablet and keyboard dock.

Both failed and had to claim under warranty. Customer service was great in that they provided a full refund of the purchase price to my bank account.

Pendo is a chinese import, intially SOLELY distributed by DoDo Internet as a value add! (true story)

      • I believe that. But now they change their name to ProTab or something else then switch back every so often, helping people forget how much they've effed up

  • Pendo gear is under specc'd so badly that what they sell isn't fit for purpose. Steer clear.

  • Same price in 2015

    my generally positive review

this tab has charging issues. wont top up the battery the instant its plugged in, have to wait about 10 mins or more for it to begin. The power brick makes a coil whine noise when the tablet 'rejects' the charger, once the charging begins the noise abates.

have replaced the charger unit itself by talking to Pendo tech support but i think its a flaw with mainboard.

It also gets very, very hot when it's charging while powered on. It's hot enough to almost burn your skin, in fact.

Bought mine roughly 2 months before Dick Smith went bust so I have no warranty support anymore.

  • Title and description require amending because this is now reduced to $235.00.

  • I just want to add… after the Windows Creator's Update was installed, I now no longer have functioning Wifi.

The Broadcom A/G/N SDIO wifi adapter now no longer works, I think the later builds of Windows are generally incompatible with it. Have tried downloading the Broadcom drivers and installing three different versions (they are all published from 2015) and none of them work.

I've spent about 2 hours trying to find a solution, eventually gave up. I don't recommend anyone buying this as such. If your wifi still works, then congrats, please share your drivers with me :)
