    • +1

      What deal would that be?

I get better reception with Optus and I dislike Telstra as a company.

The 'friend/family' of Telstra staff deal.

I stacked this with the 25% off offer. My wife was already with Optus so the 15gb plan came out to 63.70 a month.

    • How'd you go about this ?

i tried instore and they tried to say it cant because of this deal saying something about data deals….

      • I rang them up. Said I'd like to get the bonus data Samsung deal, and to stack it with the 25% deal. I used my wife's referral code. The lady making the sale said it was all good and conference called my wife into the call, who then agreed to the new contract.

        • I tried to do this also, but they said I have to be the account holder of the first optus account. Which provider were you with before?

        • @lorpek:
Vodafone. But I had to get a new number, no porting.

  • +1

You can get iphone 7 128gb for the same price as a 32gb now

    • what do you mean? how? it says something about 'leasing a 128gb iphone 7 same price as 32gb' ? meaning its not yours when the 24 months is up?

  • So I'm trying to get this deal. I am not with optus, what do i need to do?

I just registered a $2 sim, pending activation now.

Live chat told me it must be a post paid service to get the extra data. i didnt see that anywhere though? maybe he didn't know what he was doing

    • Dunno, didn't use it. Wife doesn't want the deal, the fool.

  • I went to my local optus store today, before i did i purchased a 2$ optus sim kit, registered and activated it.

I went into the store and asked for this deal along with the 25% off deal. she said should be no problem, we start filling all the details, she checked and if you update your prepaid into postpaid, thats classed as a new service apparently and does not get slugged with the $4 handset fee. all good start filling in forms. she couldn't find anywhere to put the friends and family code in.

i spent 1-2 hours and she said i would have to come in tomorrow.

im wondering if maybe the area that the staff enter the codes in, was not there due to this already being a deal? or due to it not being a 'new' service but upgrading. either way im a little annoyed!

    • -1

Did you have to put the $2 Sim on a postpaid plan? If so, how much is that ending up costing you in addition to the $63.70 per month?

      • too much. this deal was not avaliable to do a convert from prepaid to post paid.

in the end my first service had to be 25% off $85 10gb deal ended up being $63.70 + $4 handset.

the next one (for my wife) was $63.70 and 15gb data. still good

        • With this, did you end being able to keep your existing numbers?

        • @jazzleg: He only allowed me to keep the existing number of the $2 pre paid starter kit that i purchased. i never ported my number to that starter kit, if i did i guess it would have been fine.

  • So how does the offer work? I'm currently with telstra. My girlfriend is currently an optus customer. So she adds the samsung s8 to her account to get the $85 p/m deal. Then does she refer me? Or how does the referal 25% discount come into the equation?

    • +1

Visit the 25% off page, get a reference code. Call Optus, mention this deal along with the 25% code and the second phone account will be eligible. You may need to be there, I don't know as my wife doesn't want this awesome deal. $63.70 for 15GB and a Samsung S8?! Wife is happy with BYO plan for $40 with Samsung S6, the fool.

      • +1

Yeah figured that how it goes, called up local optus store to confirm. My girlfriend just signed up for the $40 byo offer to, shes using my old s5, ill be giving her my s6 edge now and taking that s8 haha

        • +1

          Hmm…wonder if we can do an ultimate deal, stack up 3 deals (this + F&F 25% + ip7 128GB for 32GB price), to get iphone7 128GB for $63.70/month !??

        • @BlackCaviar2016:

          You can!

I just did this. Option is to do the 7+ but it's $63.70 plus another $15 making it $78.70 too if you wanted.

  • Im on the phone with optus, they said this promo is for Leasing only, +$4 if you want to own the phone.

    • So at the end they take it back?

      • Yes, but if pay extra $4/month then you keep the phone.
I already have a mobile plan with optus, so I just signed with a 2nd plan and they gave me I think it was $73.25 or $73.75 for a Samsung S8+ with 15gb for 24months contract ($85 My Plan Plus).
I ported my prepaid number to them, and I used the code 'ZSTG8E' to get the 25% discount.
        Hope this helps.

After 12 months, if you want to change your phone you just return the phone +$99 then you get another new phone with a fresh 24months contract.

        • So did you sign up online or via Live Chat ? This bonus data deal is valid on S8+ as well.

Is the code - ZSTG8E a promo code or just the 25% Referral code ?

  • I called optus to sign up, it's the referral code.

  • Discount rules seem super strict. The referrer can't cancel or change their plan during the 24mths or the discount (+bonus data) gets removed?

Am I reading the fine print right?

    • Yep

    Thanks OP.

Signed up with the 128gb iPhone 7 for $63.70. This after signing up for the S8 earlier for the $67.75.
