    Very tempting. If only xiaomi officially sold in Australia

  • +1

    Great price! Maybe even the first time below $400 I think?

    "Item Location: : Warranty Service in Australia, Hong Kong"

    I wonder would ShoppingSquare look after any warranty queries for you, within Australia presumably?

    • +2

      $399 here a few weeks ago. BUT ppl had to wait for over a month (maybe more) for delivery

      • +2

        Oh the RoboGuy deals?
        Yeah I seen them but I don't know if anyone has received delivery yet so I'll reserve judgement!

        • Yup that's what I i held off buying from him. I wasn't going to wait over 4weeks

        • +25

          @BlitzR:

          Yup that's what I i held off buying from him. I wasn't going to wait over 4weeks

          Hold on… so you're going to wait so you don't have to wait?????

        • +2

          @Maverick-au: can't say it's not working?? Hahaha

        • +1

          I've purchased a Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Clear from RoboGuy.. Still, has not received it. It has been nearly 4 weeks and my order has not even been sent or any tracking numbers attached. I honestly feel like RoboGuy just took my money and legged it. Put in the order to surprise my mum, but at this rate, I don't think it'll ever come.

        • +1

          Got it from Ali Express around the same time for around $390. Arrived earlier this week. Cool piece of kit.

        • @smellycow7: As people were saying in the original thread, it's 30 business days, so you're looking at more like 6 weeks. Then in the first email he made it sound like that's just to get the wholesale order into Australia, so he'll probably have to then redistribute them domestically. That's what the priority $5 fee or whatever was first. If you paid it he mails out yours first.

        • +9

          @taitems:
          That $5 fee is what put me off in the first place, you've already waited this long but he took that opportunity to milk more out of it instead of doing priority for the first 50 people that actually helped get it up and running in the first place.

          It was 50+ orders or the deal is off kind of offer, and there's that 'what if everybody bought that $5 priority scam', free money and won't make that much of a difference.

          It just ticked me off.

        • +6

          @smellycow7:

          He made no secret about it being a new business and him being young owner. With that plus the sheer number of orders he would have received it wouldn't suprise me if he was a bit overwhelmed.

          On a another note though - you bought your mum a vacuum cleaner as a gift? You're a braver man than I am :)

        • -3

          @joshk: Is your mother the kind of woman that gets offended if someone buys a gift that might imply she cleans at one time or another because she's a woman?

        • -8

          Maybe your Mummy should buy for you if you can't tell the difference between four weeks and at least thirty business days which is six to seven weeks.

        • @smellycow7:

          me to bought for my mum to for her birthday and still haven't received it. Maybe il dispute it with paypal get my money back and order this?

      • Still haven't received my order either. The order was placed on the 10th.

        • +1

          Still haven't received my order either. The order was placed on the 10th.

          So three weeks or fifteen business days ago and he quoted thirty plus business days which is six to seven weeks before you ordered which you agreed to.

          You're not even halfway through and you're chomping at the bit.

        • -2

          @Maverick-au:
          Thanks for the great insight mr patient.
          He did say that was to allow sufficient time in case there are delays.
          Surprised you didn't know that since you seem to know it all.

          By the way i didn't know the 30 business day shipping time when i placed the order as nothing was mentioned during the ordering process on the website. You didn't know that either did you?

        • -5

          @djc926:

          Thanks for the great insight mr patient.

          I'm not the one complaining about having to wait a few weeks.

          By the way i didn't know the 30 business day shipping time when i placed the order as nothing was mentioned during the ordering process on the website>

          I guess comprehension as well as patience are two attributes you lack. Maybe this experience will enhance them.

          @Maverick-au:

          I cancelled and ordered direct from aliexpress.com for $369 with the 10% cash back.

          Cheaper, faster and the warranty is worthless both ways.

        • @Maverick-au:
          Making up fictional story as well or do you not know what comprehension is?
          I can't comprehend information that was never there on the website to begin with. The shipping time estimate was only mentioned on ozbargain thread and not on the website.

          I guess you are too busy whinging about DJ to know that? Lol

          Plus all i said is reiterate what someone else said and say that i haven't received mine either. I didn't whinge like a serial whinger like you haha

        • @djc926:

          I too ordered from Roboguy.

          Do you think its worth cancelling and reordering from Aliexpress?

          Can I even cancel the order?

        • @d39833:

          I think there's nothing you can do but wait until 30 business days is up.
          Would I buy from Roboguy again? Probably not. It doesn't make sense to charge the customers before the item is even shipped from their own supplier.

        • @djc926:
          You can cancel still.

          They haven't even shipped yet from China…

        • @d39833:

          im wondering the same this wait is a joke

        • @plasmapuff:

          Are you going to cancel yours?

        • @d39833:
          Already have and bought via aliexpress.com with the 10% from cashrewards.com.au.
          $369 total. Shipped within 24hrs of ordering.

          Roboguy hasn't even shipped yet from his China supplier…

          Cheaper, faster and we both know the warranty is going to be useless regardless of who you buy it from.

        • @plasmapuff:

          how do you get it cancelled? What is the procedure?

          Can you also give me the link for where you got it at $369?

      • +5

        you are all mean for trying to throw roboguy under the bus. give the guy a chance. he has been honest about the situation from the start.

  • Good cleaner; I posted in the last thread that I think it's definitely better than a Roomba for the price. It's not close. App could be localised better, but it's a good value.

    • +7

      App is completely in English now, along with the voice.

      It's light-years ahead of my previous Roomba 780… probably more comparable now to a Roomba 9xx model, which is over $1k.

      • +2

        i also upgraded from a Roomba 780 and I couldn't be happier with the purchase. So glad I didn't spend the extra $'s on the neato connected because I can't see how it could've been any better than this. Only complaint is that the dust bin could be bigger and the Roomba virtual wall is 100 times better.

        • Can you please let me know how this rates with the roomba 780 noise wise?
          I find my 780 too noisy to be on when i'm in the room/house

        • @Car-la-la: I think it's marginally quieter.
          But you can change power modes to a low, medium and high if you want to vacuum while you're still in the room.

    So is this the Chinese or international (HK) stock? Thanks everyone.

    • +1

      What is the difference between Chinese or international stock?

  • I'm tempted. It would be handy for me and my wife, while we are out and the home needs a spruce up. Set and forget when off to work or our for the day.
    How is the emptying of the catcher? Do is vacuum or just sweep?

  • Sold out?

        • What a roller-coaster of emotions!

  • Thanks OP, was only just considering this today, so perfect timing

  • Now I'm glad I didn't go with the Roboguy deal. This is much safer. Thanks OP

  • Thanks!

  • Wouldn't the bag fill up quickly and need replacing thus you can't leave it AFK?

    • +1

      I dont know how people use vacuum cleaners these days, but as far as I know, mine is always Away From Keyboard. ;)

      • What happens if gets full of dust? Does it also know how to empty itself?

        • You empty it.
          No.

        • -1

          @chl15: Kind of defeats the purpose of having a robot vacuum that can do everything on its own while you 'AFK' doesn't it? If you still have to manage the thing, you may as well do it yourself, and get it done much quicker and with more suction than a battery powered vac.

          I don't know who this thing is for. Lazy people, or people looking for a useless gimmick? If you have a small home, sure. But it would be even quicker to do it yourself. It's not going ot be very efficient since it won't be smart enough to know which areas its already gone over and which ones it hasn't, so it will spend a lot longer doing it. And you still can't just leave it alone because the thing is small and needs to be emptied.

          It's a dud idea, and there's a reason the leading vac manufacturers don't make these.

        • @lostn: Not discounting what you have said, it works for some but doesn't for others. Thanks for your thoughts.

          I have one and yes I can vacuum quicker than this thing but I appreciate leaving it to run and keeping a clean house while I tend to my newborn at this point in time.

        • @chl15:
          yeah i would never have vacuumed under my bed or considered vacuuming the small gaps that were impossible to get to near the power outlets. This dosnt feel like a gimmick and i just leave it running while I take a shower in the early morning before work etc.

          Call us lazy or whatever, but its a godsend

        • @lostn: So who are the leading VAC manufacturers?

          Dyson? They make one
          Samsung has one.

          I can't think of any manufacturer's bigger than these two.

          No it's not a gimmick, it's called automation.

        • -1

          @JajaMinx:

          So who are the leading VAC manufacturers?

          Miele, Electrolux, Hoover. I would also include Shark and Sebo who make quality equipment highly recommended by vac enthusiasts, but they are not household names.

          Dyson is there in terms of sales and recognition, but not quality. Anyone who swears by a Dyson has likely never used anything else. I'll count them and give you that one. They took a long time getting one out.

          Samsung? No. They're a big brand that makes everything. They are not leading vacuum manufacturers. They make good electronics, but they are not a leading brand in household products or white goods despite making all of those things. They're the #1 electronics company in the world, but not everything they make is good or the best. Where they are best at is tablets, computers, smartphones, and TVs, and even then there are arguments that others have made it better (LG makes the best TVs right now).

          Call us lazy or whatever, but its a godsend

          I can see a limited use case for it, for example in hard to reach places. But for general cleaning, it's not going ot have enough power to compare to a manual cleaner, it will need to be recharged a long time for the amount of operation you'll get out of it, and it is going to take a lot longer to do the same job, if it can. Will also require management, making it limited in usefulness as a 'set and forget' machine. Its storage space cannot be big. If it's suction is worth a damn, its battery life will be poor, like a Dyson stick which gets you about 15 minutes without boost mode (real world test by me) but takes 3 hours to fully charge.

          No it's not a gimmick, it's called automation.

          If it were smart enough to empty itself and recharge itself, you could leave it completely autonomous but it isn't. Limited automation at best. Small room it's fine. But then you could do it yourself in a fraction of the time.

        • @lostn:
          Clearly this type of machine is not for you.
          I find it really helpful.
          On one charge it can go around my apartment twice. 2.5 hrs run time.
          I run it 3 times a week and have to empty every two runs.
          Yes i could do it faster myself but that's 15 mins of my day gone x 3 times a week.
          I don't use it to replace my manual clear. The size of the machine cannot compare to a full size vac.
          It works for longer and more often. It maps the room and knows which areas it has done.
          I use it to keep things tidier during the week than they would otherwise be.

          Electrolux & Miele also have robot vacuum cleaners on the market

        • @lostn: I don't think the acronym "AFK" means what you think it means.

  • I think if you shop around this price is normal price if you buy from AliExpress with cashrewards. Geek buying has this for $377 with free DHL shipping.

    But is this HK stock or Mainland China stock?

    • What is the difference between Chinese or international stock?

    • I guess the main difference is shopping square is advertising local warranty, though I'm not familiar with Ali expresses or geeks policies off the top of my head.

  • Can anyone comment on how this works an animal fur? We have a Mainecoon that leaves tufts of fur. I'm converned it will get caught up in the rollers.

    • some of it will get caught up in the rollers depending on length of the fur.
      i usually have to clean my brush after every run.
      but to me it's normal now. after every run i empty it and clean the brush. I run it three times a week.
      no major issues thus far.

      • I've a small dog that sheds and it handles it fine without issues with the rollers.
        I clean the rollers every couple of weeks maybe.

        The girlfriends hair is more of a problem in the rollers than the dogs!

    Decided to share my opinion;

    This robot vac is awesome! Bought mine about 3 months ago from GearBest and am still very happy with the purchase. From memory I paid around $400, so this is a great buy.

    The app has been updated and now both the spoken notices from the robot and the app are in English.

    It has all the functions and then some of the $1000 machines.

    You can even control the thing over the net from your phone.

    Great job cleaning. The mapping is amazing and it doesn't miss a spot.

    I can go on, but I'll just say buy one whilst it's available at this great price!

    • +1

      Do you have kids and how does the vacuum deal with small toys?

      • +2

        how does any vacuum deal with small toys if they are not pick up?
        it will either push it around or suck it in.

        • OK great you have one of these units, so your saying the sensors are there for walls and stairs only?

        • +2

          @spriggan43:
          the first thing the bot will do as it approaches an object is slow down if the senses pick it up.
          second thing is to give it a little push with the bumper bar.
          if it pushes back it changes direct if not straight over it will try go.

        • @dasher86: It won't fall down stairs, it won't bang into walls etc… but it tends to drive over toys sometimes and make a bit of a racket.

          But yeah, kinda straight forward, clean the toys up beforehand.

        • @Deviner: Lame, I am the type of person that does not pre-wash anything i put into the dishwasher, so maybe this is not for me.

        • +1

          @spriggan43: …. either do I..

          Did you think the vacuum cleaner would pick up the toys and place them in their appropriate places or something?

        • @Deviner: lol, sure in 10-20 years; but i would expect all of them 12 sensors to like you know do somthing,
          if (GoingtoCrash)
          } Dont () {

          why have 3 proceccors if its not going to do anything smart :)

        • +1

          @spriggan43: Oh, it'll move around most toys without issue, but only of a certain size.

          If it's a little small flat'ish sort of toy, like most of my dogs, it'll drive over it which can sometimes be an issue - this would probably look, to the robot, similar to going from a hard floor up onto a rug or carpet etc.

          It's probably hard for the sensors to differentiate between a flat toy and an elevated piece of flooring - and I'd rather it wasn't overly sensitive to the point that it would avoid any elevated bits or it wouldn't be able to go up onto rugs etc.

      • The robot sucked up both the kids and the toys,A+!

  • +1

    I presume this will include an AU power plug?

  • Can this be delivered to another country for no fee ?

  • +1

    Interested, but can the battery replaceable/user serviceable? Can't really see any battery accessories.

  • Cheers ordered, will hopefully replace my cleaning lady.

  • Thanks OP, also ordered here. Missus has been asking for one of these for a while.. and this seemed like a good price. Also echoing some earlier comments, hope it has an AU plug for the charger (otherwise adapter or new DC power supply needed)

  • +1

    Actually ordered one direct from shoppingsquare a couple of weeks ago at $388 plus shipping. Order took a week to process, then it was shipped and into SA from Shenzhen within 4-5 days.

    Annoying thing was, it shipped right around the corner from my work in Shenzhen and I was up there at the time!

    • what's your opinion on it?

      Cheers bud.

      • +1

        It's a great machine. Having used a Roomba 600 series in the past it is so much better and its mapping makes alot more sense. It has struggled with getting onto my 1" high rugs and won't actually work once placed on them as the sensors play up.

        • thanks mate!

        • Does this actually vacuum suck or just sweep?

        • +1

          @albanyson: Both. Watch some youtube videos to get an idea of what it does and comparisons.

        • Can you map it to not fall down stairs ? I'm also still searching for an english language manual if possible and wondering if there's an english language app for it (iphone..)

        • @jason andrade: I'm pretty sure there sensor underneath that would detect a drop and will move away

  • +2

    Has anyone tried putting two of them on the same floor? Do they communicate with each other once you pair then to the app so they don't overlap the work?
    Got a big floor space. Worried won't finish the work before the bin fills.

    • Highly unlikely I'd say, but that would be cool.

      • Haha I know right. Only other option I can think of is using the magnetic 'walls' and segregate them to different parts of the house.

        • +3

          Put a knife on each of them, only the strong survive :)
