Free Listings for 99c Auctions on EBAY (This Weekend Only)

401

Quote from email:
"List on eBay.com.au this weekend! We're offering you FREE insertion fees on auctions starting at 99c or below.

On the 11 - 12 September, list as many items as you want and receive FREE insertion fees. Don’t forget, you only pay if your item sells"

I think this is good if you have stuff you need to clear at home, or if you were intending to list something already.

Keep in mind, any saving is still a saving =D

    Perfect timing! Thanx!

  • These promo's are used to bring the price of goods sold on the site down and attract more buyers (at the expense of sellers margins) expect a flood of junk as 45,000 identical drop ship items are listed.

  • Is this for every account? Or only for accounts that receive this mail?

  • So… 30c off. Whenever I want to sell something on eBay I don't wait for these "discounts" to occur

  • -1

    A 30c saving posted as a bargain?
    Are you serious?
I'd call it a wast of time and bandwidth for OZ Bargains webserver.
It is not enough to qualify as a bargain in my opinion.

    • If you have multiple item to list, then it could be a bargain. BUT! In the past few $0.99 promotion, not everyone was eligible. Those eligible ones would have received the email on this promotion!

      • Remember that every transaction now must offer paypal as a payment option (which means 99.9% of incoming payments are handled through paypal) this means ebay who own paypal makes another cut.

        • Offer an incentive for people not to use paypal and I have found they will take it.

    • +2

It's still a 100% discount if you think of it that way..

      • -3

Only if the item doesn't sell.
If the item does sell then you have to pay final evaluation fees anyway, which would almost negate the saving.

        • your logic is flawed - its a sale for an item that is never/rarely on sale.
so any saving is a saving that is hard to get.

But yes, in the scheme of things its not worth it if you're selling a 1k item but if you're selling 100 $1 items its a 30% off saving that otherwise cannot be gotten.

          • +1

@voter1: yeah but its the final valuation that the buggers get you on… so the 30 cent listing is just a drop in the ocean in the grand scheme of things… unless you think all your junk isn't going to sell.

            • -1

@wisc: final listing fees is 5% - if you have 100 items that sell for $1
Before: $100 income - pay ebay $35 in fees
Now: $100 income - pay ebay $5 in fees

              still approx 30% savings?
plus final value fees are always there - its like saying that you get free insurance on a new car and then someone complaining that you STILL have to pay for petrol?

              • +1

@voter1: oh please, who has 100 1 dollar items… I think your also forgetting about the paypal fees that they also force down your throat.

                • @wisc: actually i do. i have over 200 dvds and pc games and nic nacks to sell that ive been to lazy to sell until now. either i sell them or put them in the bin so this is great for me, atleast ill get a little bit of money.

and the paypal fee isnt too much roughly 3% for them and 5% for ebay. but you dont have to use paypal you can accept bank deposit, money order or bank cheque or cod

                  • @kwaker: 2.4%+30cents for paypal
and 5.25% for ebay (if item is sold for $75 or less)

              • +3

@voter1: what? you still have to pay for petrol! what a rip

        • But you still do not need to pay the listing fee.

I use these free 99 cent listings to list crap i have sitting around the house which i dont expect to sell for much.

If it only sells for $2-3 then i make that money less the final value fee.
If i had to pay the listing fee then i would make next to nothing as the fee of 30 cents AND the final value fee cause most of the sale price to go to ebay.

        • +1

Regardless if the item sell or not, you still save 30c from the listing fees. As you said, this bargain saves you 30c for each 99c listing no matter how.

Bargain or not, it depends on how well you make use of it. But I agree it's not a big savings for most people here. Still won't neg it though.

I'm not going to reply to each individual post above so i ahev replied to myself.

To all of you suggesting it is a bargain if you are selling a bunch of $2 - $3 items, don't you value your time?
Please, I'm not having a go, just merely pointing out that spending time taking pictures, making listings, dealing with buyers, packing, addressing and getting to the post office is all time and effort.

This effort is only worthwhile if you get a good price for your item, in which case the 30c saving is insignificant any way.

  • +1

it is good if your listing multiple items, and if the item is popular such as an ipod etc then it will obviously sell for more than 99cents. if your listing a justin beiber cd expect to only recieve 99cents.

  • +1

Only good for listing little things, too risky for listing most things at 99c.

But you've still got to pay 59c if you want an image to appear next to your listing on the search pages. Which is a pretty basic listing "upgrade", that should be free.

It's just a promo to get some more money out of you from additional listing fees, and Final Value fees.

Not much of what i've been listing on ebay lately is selling.

Only good for listing little things, too risky for listing most things at 99c.

There is no risk listing expensive things at 99 cents, it will sell for what it is worth.

I have found that i always get more money by listing at 99 cents as it attracts more people to the listing with the hope of getting the item cheaply which them means there are more people at the end who will bid against each other to win.

      • -1

        "no risk", are you serious?

Sometimes i've bought items off ebay from 99c auctions and they've sold well under the average ebay price.
I've listed things on 99c auctions, and had 1 bidder, sold it for 99c.

There is an element of risk, to ignore that is foolishness.

        • +2

well the key difference is what you are selling, if you are selling an iphone for 99c then I am sure it will go for market price.

but if you list an obscure or low demand item then there is a risk.

      • +1

I list all my items at 0.01, amazing how many people it attracts.

        • Every body knows that when they list stuff for 99 c they rip you off on the shipping! Ebay sucks

  • +4

    gee 30c savings..thanks ebay.
I've been using gumtree to sell stuff recently, has been great and of course no rip off fees

    • +1

Ebay is a rip with its fees.

Gumtree is the way to go, you will be suprised at how many responses you get. So before you list on ebay give Gumtree a go.

  • -1

im grateful, 30c saving is better than nothing. i have alot of $2 dvds to sell so ill save alot of the insert fees. gumtree just seems to get alot of timewasters

  • +3

ebay should only charge when sell.. so greedy

  • -1

does the promotion apply for turbo lister users?

    • Read the terms and conditions.

I could tell you but then you wont learn to find things for yourself.
