Skype: Free Voucher for up to 30 Minutes of World-Wide Calls

1334

For registered members, Skype offers a free voucher for world-wide calls for up to 30 minutes. (Skype membership is free; click here to sign up.) It's the best such offer we've (Dealnews) seen from any Voice-over-IP company. The amount of time you're able to call internationally will vary depending on the country called.

Description and deal copied from [Dealnews]

I've signed up but haven't received a voucher yet. Their page says:

Thanks for requesting your voucher, have a joyful Eid! Your voucher code will be with you within the next 3 days.

FYI, Eid is a Muslim holiday that marks the end of Ramadan.

"Thanks for requesting your voucher, have a joyful Eid! Your voucher code will be with you within the next 3 days."

A big + for the offer, and + for Eid!
Watch out for another freebie for the 2nd Eid (Eid-ul-Adha) in November.

I think your pushing your luck now lol

  • how $ for 30m skype? $1?

    • prices vary according to country/landline/mobile, an Australian landline call is 3 cents per minute.

      • Wow far out, a whole 90c, for FREE!!!!!!

        • 3c a minute vs 8/10c untimed for mynetfone, pennytel, maxotel and others -

Put in perspective this free 30m is said by the OP to be….

It’s the best such offer we’ve (Dealnews) seen from any Voice-over-IP company

So if I make one 30m call I save 8c

Get Real People like Stumo says this isn't a deal.

With Voip so easy to set up why bother with Skype, it gets the press excited as they cant be bothered getting up from their inner city cafe and skim milk lattes to realise there are FAR better deals out their.

And you can make calls without needing to tie up your computer or even turn it on

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: How can you neg this free deal? Are any of these other VoIP companies you mentioned offering a deal better this one where you get more free mins free? If not, this -ve vote is surely against the guidelines

            • +1

@SydGuy: Because as I said its only 8c worth AND max 90c with many limitations, (signing up for emails etc etc) and like having to use your computer etc. And having a Skype account means higher prices normally vs local grown voip

I gave a detailed reason why AND Neil made the comment its was the best offer EVER from a VOIP company which it isn't.

Now if it wasnt being compared to VOIP as we know it, then maybe its not a valid neg vote. But it is so I dont think its a deal or bargain.

BUT if another mod - even Neil disagrees. I'll accept the vote being removed - live by the sword die by it…

  • are the voucher codes unique ???

    • I'm guessing the codes would be tied to the email address you enter into the form.

      • Its tied to your IP. Try opening another window and going.

        • Its tied to your IP

Nothing like this is ever tied to an IP address.
Think of a big office building, that would mean that only one person in the entire building could register for the deal.

          It is cookie based.

          • @anthony: True, I kept hitting z2.php and wondered what was going in.

"Enter your email address to receive your Skype Credit voucher and Skype news and promotions about new features, products and other Skype-related information."

You are also signing up to receive news and promotions!

    • -5

yeah… not worth the 90 cents you are saving just to get more spam…

    • +3

or maybe dont tick the box that say's please send me news and promotions!

      thanks a + from me…….

  • Great. Thanks =)

"30 total minutes is based on a single call to a landline at the rate of €0.02 per minute. The actual number of minutes you can redeem with this offer may vary based on your calling destination and whether you call landline or mobile phones. A connection fee applies."

I assume the connection fee comes out of the credit they give (whatever that may be)… Wonder why don't they just give a $ credit value for the offer.

    • +2

Probably because 30 minutes of calling sounds better than $~.90 of credit. Still free is free.

      • Indeed! lol

  • +5

Just sign up to an Australian based VOIP provider, the deal is only worth about 90 cents

The call quality is going to be better and you dont need to be tied to your PC/wifi areas.

    • I agree that being tied to your PC / wifi could be a problem (other than Skype on iPhone or other mobiles), but I always seem to have fine call quality, even with international calls.

  • +3

must be a fightback against Google voice.

    • +1

      hardly.

  • Good news!

    • I can't imagine how many people here would consider turning gay for a free iTunes voucher or similar.. let me find out :P

  • Woohoo. Thanks Neil.

  • I know it said upto 3 days, but has anyone recieved an email yet?

    • Yep, got mine today and it was added to my account. The email had a coupon voucher code which you have to punch into your Skype account.

  • +1

i wonder if u dont use your skype account when will this .51 euro credit expire? btw betamax group of website companies is much better value and gives you free 2-5 min trials and heaps of free minutue's when u sign up i.e voipbuster.com nonoh.net freecall.com etc and you can direct the call via a landline etc.

  • +3

I have not recieved my voucher yet! :(

  • i received only 2 out of 4 accounts. its perhaps random winner or ended

  • +2

Stunned that this deal received 131 positives.

  • Still waiting for the voucher…

  • no voucher yet - may be changing to neg if nothing by close of business today

    • You can always contact them and ask. This deal was posted on their blog and a number of worldwide bargain sites, so maybe they have gotten behind.

  • got the voucher waste of time its worth the grand total of 0.51euro

  • +1

yeah i got mine just now too… 0.51 euro! go nuts!
    changed vote to neg

    • why neg it ?

  • free is good, but skype is way expensive than other voip providers or sites like www.locaphone.com

  • +1

Got 0.51 euro… Not worth the time I spent registering.

    • why is it less, exchange rate ?

  • -1

    Got mine…
can't believe some of you are complaining about free money…

  • I got my free voucher. Happy!

  • I never got the code. SAD.
