Joining fees are for 1980s video rental businesses.

"Pay us to pay us more later!" BS.

Yeah even IF you can somehow justify the annual fee there is no justication for a "joining fee" as well.
Seems like a gym scam. The joining fee is really a scare tactic so you don't cancel membership and rejoin later.

  • Interested to hear if anyone has found the membership useful…

yes, managed to grab some $13 fares before it reaches non-members and sold out of course

Had it for 12 months previously when it was 49 with a 50 voucher so it was free I didn't buy anything or recall any special offers to me.

  • When they say 20% off seats, are they referring to airfares or seat selection only?

    • +1

Okay just read the terms, it appears they're actually referring to seat selection, and not the actual airfare as I initially thought. Sneaky buggers

  • Isn't it always no fee in the first year but a $49 joining fee? So the deal is the $20 voucher?

  • The discount I paid on my luggage and fares from the membership paid for the for membership :)

    • how much discount do you get for the luggage?

      • From memory 20%

  • How easy to cancel a membership? Cancel online?

  • I got the membership recently also in the return for free sale. Paid the $49 membership, but saved about $160 in total for the air fares… as well as 20% luggage which would been about another $20 or so… so it was worth it for me in that respect.
