  • Awesome price. I was debating between this and the D7000. Only went with the Netgear because it was $70 cheaper at the time!

  • I'm using this for my FTTN NBN and it's been performing quite bad :(

      In what sense?

      The routing/wireless, or internet connection?

      • The connection. it just drops sooo many times in 1 day. I tried that NBN recommended settings still the same, contacted my provider who said it's "user request" disconnection and suggested another modem to isolate. I changed to iiNet Budi Lite modem and it didn't drop any internet connection so far.

        • People have had mixed experiences.

Generally I would recommend finding the best modem only that works with your ISP and then bridging it to your router of choice.

Is the iiNet Budi Lite the unit that was supplied to you from the ISP?

        • @dbun1: no, it wasn't, I bought it second hand. My provider is Mate Communicate btw.

    • I am using this for tpg fttb, it's stable and fast, can get 85mbps. Great wireless range too, I also use the smart QoS and antivirus function on it.

  • Ensure this modem will work with your provider, as I had a lot of issues with this modem dropping my connection and requiring me to spend at least a hour or more trying to get my port reset. I have tpg FTTN.
Other people have had this issue as well.

I have since switched to the D7000 and it has been flawless.

    • Not reading the forum yet but a lot of ppl like me went and connect the phone cable to this modem without checking or knowing there's a setting that needs to be turned on so that it won't crash or break the port.

But I have to agree on the connection dropping. Can't help but wonder which provider does support this modem without the connection problem :(

      • Basically every time I connected the phone line the dsl light would flash and then go off, which meant at least a hour on the phone with tpg support. Happened 3 times in a week, so I had to give it the flick.

        • It sounds like my experience before.i called Asus and was told I need to turn on G.INP setting as far as I remember that's what it called.

Please remember to those who wants to use it for FTTN to best called Asus before you connect the phone line to the modem is my recommendation.

        • @nb85: Also updating the firmware to the latest version should be the first priority

    • Seems to have prob with those on HFC too

Any one here have this modem router and use on HFC recently and have no problem? I am still tossing between this and the router version, decision decision before the sale and cash back promotion is over. I am getting HFC in July/ August

      • I'm using mine with SkyMesh as an ethernet router and its bulletproof. Skymesh dont present PPPoE though - just straight IP. Its doing IPv6 perfectly, too.

  • I have the router only version of this using the Optus NBN modem and it's solid as a rock- reboot maybe monthly…Running the ASUS WRT Merlin software no sure why the DSL version is less stable

been using this from over a year and never miss a beat. It has been flawless, no connection drop and fantastic range and speed. I definitely recommend this

Super price! Bought $150 second hand and plenty of $200+ used sales on ebay.
If its no good when I get my FTTN in 2 years time, I am sure it will be still great as a router. It also has VPN server on board, so super easy to setup secure connection to home from anywhere

  • +2

the router only version is on sale as well and going for $188. Based on the complaints in this thread, best to go with the router only version and connecting it to the ISP provided modem for the best service.
