  • How good are these compare to Dyson Animal?

    • +3

Don't use this on your dog.

      • Speaking from experience?

          Read the reviews

          lol ;)

        Don't use this on yourself

      • +2

        Gee, that's ruff.

    • Same suction and run time motor wise just different main powerhead attachment basically.

      • Is the canister smaller on the SLIM version?

        • Nope both about 400ml capacity.

  • Does this work with the DC44 animal attachments?

    • +1

I have a DC58 and a V6 and the attachments work with each without a problem. I THINK there may be an issue with the DC series and V6 attachments on the V8.

  • +1

For those wondering, the suction and motor on all V6 are the same. It's basically just the size (width) of the powerhead that differs between the different models meaning with a slim you'd take longer to clean the same space as you would with the attachment from an animal or absolute as they're wider. Combo tool and crevice tool are standard from what I understand with all the models as well.

    • Ok, so is there really much point in getting the animal over this? This would be just used as a secondary device

      • +1

I don't believe so. I just double checked the Dyson website - the slim has a narrower motorised cleaner head compared to the animal (and absolute) which is slightly wider and the animal also has a mini cleaner head for getting animal fur off lounges and stairs etc, so if you're mainly after a secondary device I would go with this.

  • Reviews are mixed, 3+ hour charge for under 10 minutes of vacuuming going off the bad reviews. I can't think of an instance where I have needed to vacuum for more than 10 minutes at a time though.

    • +3

Using one of these requires a change in cleaning culture. Instead of doing large cleans, you do more frequent little ones. Honestly since i've had one it's been great and the low run times have never been a problem.

      • +3

Sounds like Steve Jobs telling people to hold their phone a different way.

    • Well the vacuum head is between 2-3x slimmer than a regular head, so it will take a lot longer to vacuum a room.

10 minutes is woeful though, everytime I've needed to vacuum more than a spot mess, I've needed more than 10 minutes!

      • Well, I get 20 minutes with mine if that helps. Am happy with mine (would be even happier with the V8 but not paying $600+ for a vacuum cleaner)

        • 20 minutes would be enough for my weekly vacuum.

I suppose if I could change vacuuming habits to a room every 2-3 days opposed to once a week entire apartment clean that 10 minutes might even be enough.

Have you got the v6 slim? How do you find the slim head for cleaning carpets?

        • +1

          @c0balt:

I actually find the slim head easier to vacuum with being more manuevrable and can get in most places.

The Dyson has really changed how I vacuum. Used to dread vacuuming, but now happy to vacuum for short periods (20 minutes) any time and more often. The place looks cleaner as a result. What is more limiting than the battery life is how quickly the dust container fills up. Often need to empty it twice within that 20 minutes. Goes to show how well the Dyson vacuums however, picking up all that dust in that short time

  • Get yourself a Miele C3 and actually clean your place.

    • I'm all for Miele washing machines and dryers (in fact I've stopped looking at other brands), but in this day and age I would like my hoover to be bagless. :)

Then again people really are paying a premium for the Dyson name…

    • and keep paying for bags s well

is this the same as handstick version?

  • I take it there's no way to use Myer (gift) cards to offset the final purchase price when buying from them via eBay?

    • Yeah no way to use any retailer gift cards on eBay, payment done completely through eBay.
