That's overseas stock again. The direct shipping banner below the product indicates that.

          Save ~$10… But have to:

          1. Buy egift cards
          2. Go to WW and buy Kogan gift cards (hoping they have enough)
          3. Go home, order from Kogan, and have to ensure you create a new account to get the referral credit.
          4. Wait for postage from HK

and you still end up with a grey import!

          Lol what an awful suggestion.

  • These are just normal desktop drives inside?

    • Yeah, but they're normally 5400rpm instead of 7200rpm.

      • +1

The Desktop Drives in the 4TB and larger Expansions spin at a more energy efficient 5,900RPM.

The portable versions pack 2.5' HDDs that spin at 5,400RPM.

    • The 3TB Seagate Expansion Desktop has a 3TB Barracuda 3.5'HDD that spins at 7,200RPM with a 64MB cache.

      • 6 year old article. Hopefully they haven't changed since then.

I bought this HDD the other day. It's still got the same specs.

@Ge3ks: So it has the notorious ST3000DM001 inside? Avoid if true! https://www.extremetech.com/extreme/222267-seagate-faces-law…

        • @alvian: Interesting, definitely avoid if so. Are you able to confirm drive model please Ge3ks? Or anyone else who has purchased…

        • I've had Seagate drives in my NAS, have cycled all 4 due to failure within a couple years. I don't trust using them ever again.

        • @ScottyP:

          It's a newer model;

          Seagate Barracuda ST3000DM008 7200RPM 3TB SATA 6GB/S 64MB Cache 3.5in Internal Hard Drive OEM

  • would officeworks in store match this price, as i don't want to use ebay.

    • +1

No they won't. It's an eBay code.

    • +1
