Bring on the xbox one x

    :)

  • pretty good deal if you dont want forza/fallout 4

    • -5

Yeah I heard Forza and Fallout 4 don't work on the Xbox One S /s

  • Not sure if they still do it, but I bought the 299 deal a couple weeks ago (I think its the same). Went in store in Sydney to get it and was offered 3 years warranty + 12 months xbox live for 49.95 or similar (so warranty and 12 months live for less then the price of either).

Was worth it for me as I wanted to get xbox live either way. But I didn't get the 30 or cashrewards so might not be worth it for some people.

  • Thanks. This deal or bigw?

    • +1

BigW - use eGift cards to bring it down to $255.55.

      • Please explain?

500gb is useless these days. Xbox one X is the way to go.

    • +8

Yes, a 1TB hard drive is the reason to spend an extra $400. It's the way to go.

      • -1

Go ahead, buy and regret after 6 months

This is a great deal and I was really looking forward to E3 giving me a reason to pick up an XB1. In the past I've always owned all consoles each generation, but this gen Xbox seems to have done away with all their decent exclusives. The only games I'm really interested in are Cuphead and the new Ori and both of those will play fine on my potato of a PC. Where's Fable? Or the days where the likes of Mass Effect and Bioshock were Xbox exclusives? It seems all they have these days are Halo, Gears and Forza and the best days of those franchises seem behind them. Come on Xbox, I want to like you, but you make it so damn hard.

Microsoft shutdown the studio responsible for the Fable games. They cancelled Scalebound. Forza & Gears are both on PC now starting with Gears 4 and Forza Horizon 3. So you really only buy an Xbone for Halo which the studio who used to make it (Bungie) no longer make, it's been outsourced to a new studio they created called 343 Studios and the game plays nothing like the old ones anymore since all the talent is not at the new studio.

The main reason to pickup an XB1S is if you recently got a 4K TV it's the cheapest 4K blu-ray player and does great upscaling of Blu-Rays. I have 1S that I got off Gumtree for $280 and I really want to buy more games for it but I can't find anything to get :( Have got Rare Replay, Sunset Overdrive, Forza 5 and Forza Horizon 2. Can't find anything else.

They seem to be really pushing the XBOX 360 backwards compatibility and it's great that I can play Gears of War trilogy & Red Dead Redemption with less slowdown now and also enjoy replaying the JRPGs Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon but I think if the console has to exist on the merits of old games it's pretty abysmal offering. Meanwhile on my PS4 I have close to 30 games that you can't get for PC/XBOX.

I honestly can't see the selling point for this brand new 4K XBOX One X they are launching, sure the console is the most powerful of the generation but how is a souped up XBOX 1 going to benefit XBOX 360 titles? I suppose saying that it plays multi-platform titles better than the PS4 is what they are relying on but big deal since a PC would play them better than either system and with all the deals on graphics cards these days you are pretty much set spending your money on one of those rather than upgrading from the original XBone.

      • Thanks for the informative reply. I'm thinking of buying this as a bluray player for my 4K TV. So you reckon it does a great job as a bluray player and playing 4K movies?

      • Definitely agree. If I end up getting a 4K TV it would be worth it just for the 4K blu-ray playback, but that won't be happening anytime soon. Backwards compatibility is great, but I still have my 360 so not much point at the moment, plus the 360 has better backwards compatibility with original Xbox games than XB1 will ever have. They need new, unique and exclusive content. Games, not hardware specs, sell consoles; it's been proven time and again.

So you reckon it does a great job as a bluray player and playing 4K movies?

Absolutely, it's a great player and loads bluray/4k bluray really quickly and works great on both 4K TV's I've tried it with. You have to go onto the store and download the blu-ray playback app (it's free) for some reason it doesn't come pre-installed (perhaps a way for Microsoft to only pay royalties based on how many users actually download it rather than per unit produced).

Original XBOX backwards compatibility coming to XBOX1 was announced at E3 this week.

        • @Agret: Yeah I know it was announced, I just mean they will never support as many original Xbox titles with it as what is currently supported on the 360.

        • @mr_me450: You reckon? I imagine they will just copy the compatibility flag data they mapped out for the 360 emulator over to the XB1 emulator. I guess if they don't let you use your original discs then yeah it'd be a problem due to licensing issues when trying to re-list old games on the Store.

Where are all the PS4 console deals?!

Agree with above, PS4 exclusives are way more exciting and maybe Sony know this. Was hoping E3 and EOFY might inspire some deals…
