these prices cant compete with tpg etc for large amounts of data however internode is a really good isp and put a lot of effort into making sure their network is great.

I actually was about to edit the post and say '… and before anyone starts to compare this to TPG …' :)

TPG have on and off peak - Internode have 1TB 'anytime' usage. When you feel like using it, you use it.

TPG and Internode are not the same sort of ISP. If speaking to a local person is important to you, if customer service with knowledgable people is important to you, and if having a lot of control over your connection is important to you, Internode is a great choice.

I've been with budget ISPs in the past, TPG and Exetel. Couldn't really make the move to Internode based on cost, but finally sucked it up after quite a bit of trouble with my Exetel connection. Suddenly, no more dropouts, no more speed dips, and of course no peak/off peak business.

Nothing worse than speaking to incompetent humans, on the other side of the planet, that have no idea about IT!

I agree, that said, my TPG connection is pretty stable, and i would stay with them in the future, ive had a few frustrating issues, (TPG finally admitted they where at fault, and about 6-12 months later they updated the exchange) but now that its running good haven't had issues for ages.

      • TPG do not have peak/off peak on their $70 and $75 unlimited plan.
I don't have any problem with TPG but I'm not going to say anyone of them is better.

  • i wish there were some ADSL1 deals posted occasionally! Im stuck on a dodgy exchange with ADSL1 only so can't get any of these good deals :(

    • Actually this has better coverage - i might be able to get this deal. This could be really helpful for ppl who cant access the TPG/iinet deals

I'm on a Telstra wholesale port :( so I can't take advantage of these but they're still good value plans. Internode are great!

    • Same here :(

But to be honest, I'm pretty happy with my current plan (IEBv2)
I barely use the 50gb, and that's shared between a family of 5 :o (I still live at home :p)

But word is that Telstra have got onto Node with an 'interim offer' that should see us getting a better deal in about a month :)

  • pffftt…. TPG and Internode aren't even in the same ballpark. TPG are good, but Internode speed and reliability unsurpassed by any other ISP.

Not being a fanboi either, a recent industry survey had Internode streets ahead of any other ISP in key areas including the all important customer satisfaction ratings. Dont ask where Telstra came :).

I don't think comparisons should be limited only to quality of support and perceived quality of service.

Internode include with all of their plans two key additional services that are very important to me - but which no other ISP's appear to include - thus if I weren't with Internode I would have to pay extra for them:

    • premium Usenet server - for web downloads this is much faster and more secure than torrents - worth USD$10 to $12 per month to buy externally;

    • secure smtp server - so I can always happily and easily send mail from a standard email program on my laptop, regardless of where I am in the world and what internet access I am using. This is invaluable for laptop owners who when travelling, prefer not to be limited to browser-based email that can only be read/accessed whilst on-line.

These two are key services for me - can't understand why other ISP's don't offer them too. Other users may find benefit in other additional included services of other providers. Examples:

    • some ISP's include Annexe M with some plans in some areas - allowing double up-load speed (ISP's: Adam; iiNet; Internode;)

    • TPG's free IPTV trial looks pretty interesting (where available) to access Al Jazeera & CubaVision;

    • I use ABC iView a lot - so having it unmetered helps me never come close on my monthly download limit (ISP's with unmetered iView: AARNet; Adam Internet; Cinenet; Comcen/SPIN; iinet; Internode; iPrimus; TransACT; Westnet; - source: http://www.abc.net.au/tv/iview/isp.htm )

    • "browser-based email that can only be read/accessed whilst on-line." I use gmail offline. Works great! You can download all your emails and work off your inbox like you would online.

  • I know I'm probably missing something obvious, but what is the difference between Internode Easy and Internode Extreme? Is the only difference whether or not uploads are counted?

    • Yeap. Pretty much.

      • The shaping is also different - Extreme is 128kbps, EASY is 256kbps
Negligible, but it's a difference nonetheless!

Oh and all Agile ports get Annex M (much higher upload speed)

  • This for ADSL2 uses only? I am with Internode but can only get ADSL :(

    • Yeah you need to be on an Agile or Optus port unfortunately.

"What about plans on ‘Telstra ports’?

This new release of the Internode ‘Easy’ plan tables uses Agile/Internode direct and Optus Wholesale ADSL2+ ports. It does not use ADSL2+ ports from Telstra Wholesale.

The available Internode plans that offer access on Telstra Wholsale ports (the 512, STANDARD, and FAST plans) will be revised once we have completed ongoing access pricing negotiations with our key wholesale supplier for those plans."

They have jacked the price up it used to be $49.95 without bundling. They are taking the price too high for the average user.

It's funny when you see internode raise its prices and Bigpond is lowering. Will be moving my folks plan to Bigpond after this increase of price.

    • Yep they did :(

    • +1

Actually it's been $59.95 for about 8 months or so now for the cheapest 'Easy' plan. Furthermore, it's $59.95 a month for 150GB now, whereas it was $59.95 a month for 50GB last week.

      100GB a month extra… for nothing.

Enjoy the 24 month contract with Bigpond, I'm enjoying a zero month contract on Internode.

    • No, it's not funny at all.

And jesus christ I hate seeing people rag on Internode when they really have no clue..

You think they keep prices high because they feel like it?
They have a perfectly valid explanation for it, and I believe it's called "survival". If they lowered prices, they would lose money.

Please, do us all a favour and have a read through this:

  • Hope Adam update their plans soon else I'm moving to Internode soon!

  • Do all of these T-Shirt deals include the requirement of needing to sign a x-month long contract? If so, how long are the contracts?

    What the F !
I am sick of having to watch while others get a massive amount of data cheap while I suffer because I can only have ADSL1 or ADSL2 wholesale. When are you going to give us decent plans?
    Internode Fast ADSL 2+ = $109.95 for 50gb
Internode easy broadband ADSL 2+(selected areas only) = $59.95 for 150gb

    Absolutely ridiculous…

Might pay to do your research mate. Direct your anger at Telstra instead of Internode, as they are the one to blame for this.
Internode are doing as best as they can with the current situation.

But fear not, there appears to be light at the end of the tunnel:

Also, a pity you didn't get on the Easy Broadband plan when you had the chance.
I'm on a Telstra port, paying $59.95 a month for ADSL2 and 50gb of downloads.
They've had to take this deal away for new customers sadly :(

Thank you for the links and information. A very helpful post.

I was actually lucky enough to get on the easy plan - uploads count though which hasn't put me in a much better position then the 30gb I was on previously :-(
I feel for the people who didn't get on the easy plan though.

As for research, I am often accused of researching too much. I can't research everything that effects me in life (although I have tried at times) - there just isn't time. It would have taken me hours to go through the whirlpool posts (49 pages!). You directed me to it in minutes, thanks for the help.

        • Glad I could help :)

Yeah that's fair enough - there is certainly a lot to sort through on those forums.
I've just been keeping an eye out, as it's definitely relevant to my interests :p

In regards to uploads - are you saying these account for 20gb of your usage each month?!
From checking MUM, the last few months my uploads have only been about 3-5gb.

If you're torrenting a lot, perhaps you should have a look into Usenet (free premium service for Internode customers!): http://users.on.net/~cooperj/usenet/

Maximum download speeds, no uploads :)
Personally, I use the Grabit client - but that guide is certainly a good start.
