  • Heya Jimmy.

  • This looks like a cool deal.

I bought the surface laptop today from the Microsoft store - i5, 8GB ram, 256gb ssd for $1999. This looks like a better laptop with the i7 (never had the luxury of using i7 b4) also with more ports.

What's your thoughts on getting this one instead?

    • Hi there,

Check my post below. They have XPS13 with better screen and Windows 10 Pro for $240 less.

      Cheers

      • Hey bud - thanks for the response. Yeah I think I might get that - it's a great price point and frankly better bang for the buck. cheers mate

    • i think it's different purpose, I recently got the old i5, 8gbram too….
i was thinking between dell and surface,

at the end i came up with surface because of the weight and flexibility.

Both can't do gaming much anyways, but when i feel the Dell Xp13, feel a bit heavy.

      • I think the surface laptop (not the surface pro) is slightly heavier than the xps.

Having a think about it extra ports is good - surface laptop only comes with 1 USB…

        • that's the good thing about xp3, lots of pot more, but i dont use much of them, 1 usb is more than enough, and the micro sd slot is a bonus for me :)

(using MS bluetooth mouse, and the keyboard cover. but never touch the pen….lol)

    • here is another option for you if you don't mind refurbished. Use coupon code CALM

If you are after a Dell product, always check the Dell outlet site where they sell returned products as new or reburfished at much better price. I have bought 3 laptopts from there (2 x XPS', 1 x Latitude) in the last 5 years, the latest one being XPS15 with i7 6700HQ. Never had a problem and laptops even marked as refurb looked and worked like new. Only down side is the warranty is 1 year instead of 2, but you can purchase additional warranty.

P.S: No affiliation of any kind. Just a happy customer.

  • Hi billy77 - have u experienced the coil whine and heat problem in xps?

  • Another day, another post about a mediocre "deal" on an overrated laptop.
