    Getting tempting… (using g3)

  • +2

Amazing price for an amazing phone

  • +2

Has LG finally fixed the boot-loop issue in the G6 or have to wait and see later throughout the year?

    • +6

I heard that it was fixed.

  • +4

    So cheap ….

  • +2

    Its so tempting………..

  • +2

When it breaks into $400 territory….for sure

    • It does once you discount an additional 1.6 percent with cashrewards.. :)

      • +1

Dont lol Will wait for the 450 mark like the G5 I bought

  • +1

Should i hit the trigger or wait for v30?

    • +1

Maybe buy this when the v30 comes out? It will probably be around $400.

  • +2

I think this might have pleased me more than the V20 I've got sitting in a box in my office. The V20 is huuuggee

    • +1

Yep this one is quite more compact size

    • +2

Sell me your v20 than ;)

  • +2

I don't need any of them, the G5 is actually really suiting me. But us rampant consumers know what keeps us going.

  • -6

    I have a nexus 6p

    • Running on eneloops I assume?

  • This or the Oneplus 3T? Nexus 6p conveniently started bootlooping last night lol.

    • +2

I'm coming from a 6p also. Battery life has fallen if a cliff in the past couple of weeks. If it weren't so hard to replace the battery i would actually stick with it.

      • 6P is a solid phone apart from a shoddy battery :.

I had the battery replaced 2 months ago as well.

Shame. This might do until the Pixel 2 comes out.

    • +1

This. Camera is actually good in this thing. Plus, behind that glass build is a pretty durable body.

  • +2

The DS version of this phone has a bootloader that can't be unlocked, so the phone can't be rooted and custom roms can't be installed.
Those who don't care about that get an amazing phone at this price..!

MUST BE REPEATED, HIGHLY WOULDNT RECOMMEND DWI, WARRANTY NON EXISTANT, SELLER MAKES YOU PAY TO RETURN AND TO SEND BACK TO YOU.

PAY EXTRA AND GET LOCAL OR GO TO QD_AU / KOGAN ON EBAY OR BUY LOCAL

    • Cheers, I went with QD_AU for the extra 30 :)

    • Or T-Dimension; they've paid for my previous faulty LG G4 to returned via Fedex.

  • +1

I was looking at the V20 - then noticed the $40 difference between the e-bay price and their own page, so decided to apply the far Q protocol and add them to the list.

  • +2
    • +1

Yep there are 5 or 6 other sellers slightly cheaper, but i rate dwi pretty highly from purchases in the past. Read some feedback on those other sellers. YMMV with warranty on any of these imports.

    • +1

No problem with buybuybox with my previous purchases. Same can be said for my experience with DWI, eGlobal, QD_AU, Kogan, etc. For me, the savings on the initial costs far outweigh the slim chance of potential cost shipping items back to sellers in the case of a warranty claim, which I have yet required any (touch wood!). My friend did buy a Nexus 5X from buybuybox last year which was DOA and was able to get a refund with no cost to him. It's really a luck of draw thing when it comes to buying grey imports.

      • +1

…For me, the savings on the initial costs far outweigh the slim chance of potential cost shipping items back to sellers in the case of a warranty claim…

I would say the complete opposite. You are placing your faith on the seller to honour the warranty, which they will be trying their hardest to make excuses e.g. not our problem, contact the manufacturer. Just so you can save a few initial dollars. Don't forget you will be without your phone for a few weeks or months, and there will probably be a lot of emails on your part trying to chase up the whereabouts of your AU$500 device…

Also, you are placing faith on the manufacturer making a faultless device that will only have a "slim chance" of needing repairs. In this sad day and age, it is unfortunately a laughable expectation. (I'm not saying this is right, just that this is the way consumerism has become - all about the latest thing, with very short product life expectancies.)

I would much rather pay the difference for local stock with local warranty for such valuable items. It came in handy with my LG G4! Claimed twice in the past year for an issue with the camera auto focus, and then the boot loop issue. In both cases, the process took a speedy 4 days (from me mailing the faulty phone out, to the repaired phone arriving at my local post office) and it's as good as new, and no anxiety associated with needing to chase people up and feeling helpless when they don't respond for days or weeks.

        • +3

Considering that the local G6 is still selling at close to $1k, it's probably worth taking the risk buying grey. If your phone dies and seller honours warranty then perfect, if not…just buy a new phone. I think that $400-500 initial savings would be pretty good for a newish phone in the future.

        • +1

          @clse945111:
          Completely agree.

        • @clse945111: Exactly what I meant. If the saving's only 10-20% then local stocks would be in favor. In the case of this G6 the saving is ~50%. It's a no-brainer.

  • +3

    like a g6, like a g6

    • now I'm feeling so fly, like a G6

  • How long does it take for them to ship from HK?

  • -1

they take a while to ship, if the package arrives after July 1st will we get dinged with GST?

    • I think qd_au shipping is faster.

    • +3

If you're referring to the GST for imports under $1k, wasnt that delayed until 1 July, 2018?

    • I would think it is the purchase date that matters for tax matters. I am not sure they have been able to figure that tax problem out yet. Too many problems.

  • Cheap! Hanging out for a Pxiel 2 but I know it won't get anywhere near this price…

  • +2

bought mine in the previous 15% sale from DWI. Be aware that box came unsealed. Fingerprint marks on the phone…

    • Thats bad :(

    • +1

I'm pretty sure these guys always inspect the contents before sending

    • Same, but all the cables etc where wrapped as new. But everything else I brought from DWI have come sealed. Not sure why this wasnt.

      • How long was delivery time?

        • 4 days. Was pretty quick

        • @flogbag: great. Im very excited

  • Don't even need to upgrade but this is still tempting lol

  • Damn, tossing among this, htc u ultra & s8 plus

    • Buy this upgrade once more when v30 arrives.

      • Yeah but U Ultra has a much better screen and camera. Decisions decisions.

        • You will miss out wideangle camera and thats imp for some occasions…. Tell me as i also want to pull the trigger mate. Be quick…

        • I have been eating my wifes brain since a few months… She is pissed off today :D

        • @Braintrain1000: U ultras image quality trumps G6 in most occasions. Wide angle is nice but realistically I won't be using it much. Colour reproduction on htc screen is much better as well. I am ordering the U ultra tonight when I get home.

        • @MadMaxBargainRoad:

Ok. I just ordered this lg in black. Go for ultra. Buy whatever suits your need.

        • +1

          @Braintrain1000:
I have played with both and can say that the U Ultra screen is just really hard to beat…it's such a pleasure to look at! G6 screen kind of just looks…dull.

        • @clse945111:

True. But i am not a fan of htc after seeing how you wasted the space on such a large device.

Ill use wide-angle and DAC alot and I'll wait for LG v30 deals.

I am bored with my xperia z3 now.

        • Doesn't U Ultra miss 3.5 jack though?

        • +1

@JetBombat:Yes, it does. Huge bummer but still suits me better than G6 as display & camera are always my top priorities.

        • @MadMaxBargainRoad:

I think g6 camera is a ted better.

  • Does it have a screen protector already? Looks like it has one already when you take it out of the box?

    • I hope, my G5 had one already.

      • Yes thin clear plastic cover. Good enough for me.

    • Mine did, but I took it off. Also getting a case for the Gloss Black is a must in my books. Its a filth magnet. Just shows up everything, sweat, dirt etc. Pretty slippery with some sweat too.

      • I put a tempered glass protector on top of the plastic one the phone came with :P

        • Why?! That makes me so triggered.

        • @Wonderfool:

I just thought why not :D

I kept my factory installed protector on my G5 for 6 months until it began to peel off and then went for a tempered glass.

And I thought it would be waste to peel the plastic off so… :D

        • +1

@datafellows: Dude that will kill me. Most pre-installed plastic have a white-ish tint to them already, then you shove a tempered glass, which has a thick layer, dimming the colours even further? Just…. arggh.

        • @Wonderfool:

Good point. I will have to have a rethink :)

      • G6 with b&n headphones?

  • +1

Bought one for wife, I hope this won't have boot loop issue, have 1 year warranty from DWI.
My previuos G5 had one after one year but Kogan covered it & replaced with S7 edge.

    • +2

I keep hearing great things about Kogan and warranty; will consider them for next grey import. Seems they are more than happy to replace with you have issues.

  • Ok. So couldn't hold the freaking temptation

    Thanks!

    Your order was placed.
    Estimated delivery: Fri, 30 Jun–Wed, 05 Jul
We'll send you email confirmation soo

  • Lost my faith in LG since the G4; had mine repaired under Boot Loop fault and it has since suffered issue with screen digitizer.

    Not worth paying for repair.

LG need to work on quality.

    • None of last year's phone has consistent bootloop report, and it's already passed the period when it should be rampant.

      So maybe they did? Dunno.

  • -6

DO NOT DO NOTTTTT BUY LG!!
currently have g4 and when i go do a backup on pc, the app tells me my phone doesnt have enough space to do backup.
    im like what!?!?!
so i talk to support and they tell me to delete/move some things off my internal memory to free up space, that is, open up file browser and delete folders/files in internal folder structure and fingers crossed you dont stuff your mobile.
Absolutely pathetic!! I will be trying to get my money back. 2 year warranty, only had it for 6 months.
Itunes, samsung, sony doesnt have this bloody problem.
But lg, ooo lets backup your whole mobile onto your mobile and then copy across to pc. Bloody idiots!!!

    • +9

Buzz off mate. We all know g4 had manufacturing faults doesn't mean the company is shit

    • +1

Every individual handset has its pro's and cons, no point writing off a company because of one failed phone.

    • Itunes, samsung, sony doesnt have this bloody problem

      Old people twitter?

But lg, ooo lets backup your whole mobile onto your mobile and then copy across to pc. Bloody idiots!!!

      OK, definitely old people twitter.

    • +3

A simple solution is to use a cloud storage app like Dropbox, MS OneDrive, Google Drive, etc.

Also, the LG G4 has a micro SD card slot, so another simple solution is to buy a micro SD card and back up onto that.

It's a bit of a stretch calling LG a bad company when the problem is not really a problem to begin with…

  • Very tempted to grab one of these, I'm still using a Nexus 5 with a very cracked screen, was considering a Oneplus 3T but this looks to be slightly better for around the same price.

Any thoughts on waiting for either a 20% sale or price drop?

    • They will probably bump up the prices on 20% deal as last time.

      • That's only specific store sales that do that AFAIK, if its a 20% ebay wide (which may just be a dream I keep reading about on ozbargain)it should be fine.

  • Not quite as good as Samsung S8+ but much better price!

  • +1

    Bought it, woo hoo!

    • From dwi?

      • Yep.

        • +1

Same here. I hope they ship quick.

        • @Braintrain1000:

I left my old phone (Sony Z2) on the roof of my car this evening, it fell off on a freeway, spotted it descending off the back windscreen at 80KM/H. After finding it on the side of the road it is cactus so definitely time for a quick replacement!

        • @mr fox: lol. I got z3 sony and few days ago charged it a th samsung s7 charger and burnt a part of screen on the top right.

        • @mr fox: they haven't updated.

  • Mi6 for $523 or lg G6 for $503?

    Expert reviews please….

    • +4

Mi6 has better specs, so on paper it should be faster. LG G6 has a subjectly better screen, camera and look. Also has an headphone jack. IMO its LG G6 easily.

      • But smash melee on the go! I can flaunt my epenis of my wavedashing skills, ON THE TRAIN!

Also 30% battery efficiency on the gpu is pretty nice too.
